  1. Exactly. A board of directors, heavy bureaucracy, and industry constraints bind large companies. Their primary goal is to maximize shareholder profits which conflicts with the idea of bringing the highest quality product to market.
  2. I had one in my 2017 since new and never got anything like that. Every month I got the report as usual.
  3. AMSOIL Oil Filters provide a filtering efficiency in accordance with industry standard ISO 4548-12 of 99 percent at 20 microns (from AMSOIL web site). Don't rely on dealer sites as some don't get updated.
  4. This is 100% true. Order status codes: 1100 = Preliminary Order (Order passed GM edit tables but dealer has not received allocation to place order) 2000 = Accepted By GM (Dealer used allocation to place order into production) 2500 = Preferenced (Order pulled to the production system) 3000 = Accepted By Production Control (Order input into the production system) 3100 = Sequenced (Order sequenced for Production) 3300 = Scheduled For Production (Order is scheduled into the plant build cycle) 3400 = Broadcast (Order is sent to various build & supplier areas to bring order together) 3800 = Produced (Order is built and VIN# shows in the Dealer Order system now) 4150 = Invoiced (Order is invoiced to the dealer) 4200 = Shipped (Vehicle is shipped to the dealer or point of delivery) 5000 = Delivered To Dealer 6000 = Delivered To Customer DOSP - Dealer Order Submission Process The weekly process consists of 4 stages. 1. Constraints Distribution - Dealers are informed on constraints to review before placing orders. (A Constraint is a limit placed on specific build configurations.) 2. Dealer Order Submission - Dealers can order on Thursday, Friday or no later than midnight on Saturday. (You can submit orders earlier but you don't know the constraints.) 3. The 4-Pass Process - GM will attempt to place each dealer’s orders on Mondays using a 4-Pass process. (At this point a dealer may get more or less than was allocated, if they asked.) 4. Dealer Review - You can review your placed orders for changes or replacements until Tuesday at 9pm ET. That's when the accepted orders are sent to production control.
  5. Suburbans as popular fleet vehicles, thousands and thousands sold to gov't agencies. We had them at work for survey crew vehicles and they came special option pkgs. not available to the public. White it a popular fleet color, NOAA has 1000's of vehicles in white.
  6. It’s a proven fact, most of the things we worry about, NEVER HAPPEN. Many owners are afraid of losing their factory warranty should they deviate from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-recommended oil. Some OEMs and dealers take advantage by trying to pressure customers into buying the OEM brand of lubricants. Illegal scare tactics The fact is, tying use of an OEM lubricant to the factory warranty is illegal. What’s more, manufacturers can’t deny warranty coverage without showing the aftermarket part or lubricant caused a failure. The federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects U.S. consumers with the freedom to choose the brands of parts and lubricants they think are best. Similar consumer-protection laws exist in Canada.
  7. Maybe its the opposite way......I was just in the car wash yesterday and never paid attention.
  8. The pass side mirror has a longer arc to travel so it will never park at the same time as the drivers mirror. There is a reset procedure, check the owners manual for instructions. Basically as I recall its manually folding them that will reset them, can't recall if one or more time it needed.
  9. I has been said several times. These are just standard pipe plugs and nothing special. Any well stocked hardware store should have them. Finding them at GM parts look-ups can be difficult because won't be listed in a regular parts guide. Fasteners etc are what are referred to as standard parts. I dare say that AC Delco shown probably fits all from the 1950's up.
  10. They are on my 2021 1500 Sierra Denali so not all......
  11. Lots of things go out of favor. My 2021 Sierra Denali Ultimate does not have a cd player, turn signals mirrors are no more. Rain sensing wipers are Cadillac features.
  12. Lots of municipalities have enacted green laws to curb vehicle idling and that's why this exists.
  13. Don't feel bad. I know some who bought a Land Rover Range Rover (MSPR $90000+ and they don;t deal) and has had nothing but issues with brakes. And the dealer is some 500 miles.
  14. DexosD is a license, not a specification! The license is a revenue stream for GM.
  15. You won't risk any warranty problems. That's a scare tactic. Generally, the public is unaware that it is illegal for a vehicle manufacturer to tie the warranty of its product to the use of the manufacturers own brand of lubricant or filters. Federal law seeks to ensure competition within the marketplace and that specifically includes guaranteeing continued warranty coverage outside of the OEM-branded lubricants and filters. In short, you have the right to use the oil of your choice. If the lubricant did not cause the problem, the OEM warranty cannot be voided, period.
  16. If you are keeping it like you said, might just as well put in the best money can buy and IMO, that's AMSOIL. OEM lubes are from the low bid supplier. That does not mean they are not any good but they also are not the best available, only that they are good enough for GM. After the warranty is done, its your problem. They make money selling parts, service and new vehicles, they don't want it to last forever, they want to sell you a new one.
  17. From GM Active Aero Shutters are a General Motors active aerodynamics technology that improve the aerodynamic performance and maximize aerodynamic efficiency of a vehicle in order to deliver better fuel economy.
  18. Yes, is a design feature. I recall reading a bulletin about that. The TSB pic shows exactly the same as yours.
  19. I rode with a friend 100 miles to help him haul back some new windows he bought. Not more than 20 miles down the road you could see his driving style. You be driving 40mph and you know there is a stop ahead but instead of slowing down he stays at 40 mph and <200 ft from the stop sign, he stands on the brakes. I felt like I was in a rocking chair for the whole drive and it was very annoying. He never anticipates traffic slow ups, catches up to slower traffic and then has to use the brakes to slow down. By his driving habits I can see he been doing this all his life and thinks nothing of it.
  20. GM (and the dealer) has NO CONTROL over interstate commerce. They do not use first in first out, they have to build a load the includes your dealer in its route. If its still at the distribution center its usually means there is not enough to have a full load to your dealers destination or there are not enough drivers. The truck won't dispatch without a full load. The shipping company has complete control of that vehicle till the dealer signs off at delivery. Take the bs the dealer tells you with a grain of salt, its unlikely the dealer ever talked with the transporter.
  21. The trans shop guy doesn't want you to use AMSOIL because AMSOIL saves transmissions and he is in the repair business. The use of AMSOIL ATF will not void any factory warranties. Anyone who says that is trying to use scare tactics to advance their agenda. An oil analysis cannot determine what brand of ATF it is, especially when its a used fluid. Talk to the lube analysis experts, I have, they can't tell what brand of fluid/oil is used. All the can tell you is the present condition and weather its suitable for continued use. Anyone who thinks GMC Dexron branded fluid is superior, just look at the fiasco with the 2014-2016 8-sp transmissions shudder problems and low-bidder GM Branded Dexron HP. No good, they had to go to Mobil 1 to save their butts.
  22. AMSOIL has been producing synthetic lubricants since 1972 and synthetic ATF since 1980. Its well known/respected in the industry as the leader in synthetics. Heck, they buy their PAO base oil from Exxon-Mobil Chemical (different than Mobil 1) and their additives from Lubrizol as well as Infineum, Afton Chemical, Motiva etal, the best in the world. Does that mean it is somehow garbage in an AMSOIL bottle and perfectly fine in a Mobil 1 bottle? The short of it, the trans guy is full of BS.
  23. Kelly blue means nothing to them when the value a trade-in, they will use GM auction values or wholesale. They will never pay those KBB inflated values on trade in's, its leaves them little margins for profit. Plus, they are talking a vehicle in and have to then sell it so weather you think so or not, there is some risk to that for the dealer because that sale could me months later, its a risk. What its valued today may not be what they can sell if for later. They are in business to make money, you are getting the new vehicle for a fixed invoice supplier price which limits the dealers profit on the vehicle. If think the deal is not to your advantage then you are welcome to go somewhere else and purchase a vehicle. They are in the game to make a profit and there is nothing so force them to bend to your idea of a good deal or limit their profit on a sale. If you were buying your very truck used I bet you would think your KBB value is high.

  25. Friend put a bypass trans filter on his 2007 Sprinter 3500 Van (MB 5-cyl diesel). He uses vehicle to custom haul loads all over the USA, he and his partner drive about 10,000 miles a month. Within 6 months the trans went suddenly when he was on the road our west somewhere. Found a used trans and the installed it out there somewhere. Again a few months later and this trans failed, engine started racing and trans slipping.. So in the first year with a bypass he lost 2 transmissions. He's been hauling for over 25 yrs all over the US and it capable of doing most any repairs. He's convinced the trans problems are related to the bypass oil filter he hoped would make the trans last 500,000 miles. He has put another trans in and has not hooked the bypass filter in and its been a year and no more problems. He found a spare just in case. I told him I thought it was a bad idea but when he's on the road he comes with these hair-brained ideas and you can't talk him out of it.
