1. Yes, known issue. GM out sources these parts, Melling.
2. They have more orders than they can deliver...... Friend is a die-hard RAM guy and its the same thing with them, he wants a 2021 Ram Ecodiesel and the dealers tell him, impossible to predict when they will accept the order. Not only is the OEM constrained, their suppliers are constrained at being able to supply the demand. It seems the big problem a lot of companies are have it getting qualified people to work. My nephew works in production for a big CNC parts supplier (mostly to powersports industry), says they have jobs up the ying-yang but no one looking. Todays generation don't want to work, they want free gov't money.
3. Do you know if the order was accepted by GM? Current status code? Salesman are inherent bs'rs so anything that they tell you you have have to take with skepticism.
4. They mark them up because they know people will pay and many will even brag the had to pay more, more money than brains. When the Dodge Viper came out many west coast dealer were doing the same, markup. Local dealer here was discounting one because he could not sell it very easy. Guy who bought, still owns to the day although I have not seen him driving it for couple years, old trucker.
5. Just the region you live in. They charge more because they know they can get more. Found this at local dealer. GM incentives are less because they don't need to offer as much as inventory is low. Local dealer who typically has around 50-75 trucks (GMC & Chevy) has only 7 Chevy and 1 GMC. All low level trims except this one. Grab a parachute and a plane ticket. New 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab Standard Box 4-Wheel Drive High Country MSRP $69,925 Keweenaw Price $63,434 Keweenaw Total Savings $6,491 VIN 1GCUYHEL7MZ228963 Engine 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine Transmission Automatic Trim High Country Color Cherry Red Tintcoat Destination Charge $1,695.00 Installed Options 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine $2,495.00 Technology Package $1,870.00 Adaptive Ride Control $900.00 Wheel locks $75.00 High Country Deluxe $4,300.00 Cherry Red Tintcoat $495.00 Power-retractable assist steps $995.00
6. Maybe this? Lane Keep Assist (LKA) Light After the vehicle is started, this light turns off and stays off if LKA has not been turned on or is unavailable. If equipped, this light is white if LKA is turned on, but not ready to assist. This light is green if LKA is turned on and is ready to assist. LKA may assist by gently turning the steering wheel if the vehicle approaches a detected lane marking. The LKA light is amber when assisting. This light flashes amber as a Lane Departure Warning (LDW) alert, to indicate that the lane marking has been crossed. LKA will not assist or alert if the turn signal is active in the direction of lane departure, or if LKA detects that you are accelerating, braking, or actively steering. See Lane Keep Assist (LKA) 0 281.
7. Car salesmen are some of the most hated professions, right up there with members of congress and telemarketers.
8. AMSOIL demonstrates an uncommon loyalty toward its Dealer network that is remarkable in today's world. This is one of the reasons you will not find AMSOIL synthetic motor oils at big box retailers like Walmart, Costco etc. The company is dedicated to preserving brand value as well as limiting price-gouging competition. As one of a few independently owned oil companies in the USA (Wis), they have always stood apart from the big oil companies. They maintain the freedom to formulate products based on performance, not price and are NOT beholden to a large corporation driven solely by profits. All these lists you want them to be on are lists of oils meeting the minimum specifications. Why would they want to be such a list? If you are happy using what meets the minimum spec, great.
9. Its installed wrong, just needs to be shifted rearward, take it back and complain. I have same cover and dealer installed mine half-assed as well. It now overlaps the t-gate by about 1/4-3/8 inch. Note, the lowest paid flunkies gets to do this job.
10. Build out for 2021 models is 09-24. Order banks open 7/1/21 for 2022 allocations Production is scheduled for 9/20/21 for 2022 light duty.
11. ...................................................................................
While the GM dexos and Dexron specifications play the important role of setting a minimum-quality standard, it also limits the flexibility needed to create the highest level of protection. AMSOIL uses these standards as an initial benchmark, then moves beyond them to provide motor oil and transmission fluid with superior performance and protection. GM also collects royalties on the license. Subscribing to the program would limit our ability to produce the most innovative products on the market. The additional costs would also require price increases. Rather than paying royalties and passing the cost on to consumers, we back our products with our warranty.. We have ample test data to support our claims.
12. GM is planning to build 2021 model trucks until Sept 24.........model year is coded in the VIN and cannot be changed.
13. An old vehicle like, 20 yrs +, they probably don't have records anymore.
14. When it comes to fleet vehicles like AT&T would buy it may be unique and be one off for them. Huge buyers can get purpose built vehicle that they do not produce for anyone else. We had them at the DOT, mostly K3500 suburbans (GPS Survey crew trucks), 4x4 and all emblems said it was a 2500 but it really a 1 ton . Yet it had HD springs, a larger 45 gal fuel tank, big brakes, Silverado seats, deep tinted glass, p.locks ++. Its was a special order I recall when it came time for new brakes they could only be ordered from a GM dealer using the F&SO code in the glove box. Anything the parts stores had did not fit. They ordered parts from the NAPA store and they did not fit, were not big enough and NAPA had no parts to fit. Even the Chevy dealer had to go through the F&SO group to order the correct parts, they were not in the parts catalogs, they were exceptions unique to DOT special order. I pity anyone who purchased that truck from the auction and had to put new rotors on, they cost nearly a $1,000 each on the 4wd versions. F&SO - Fleet and Special Order (aka COPO).
15. The taller the tire that you install, the higher the gear ratio will become. Larger tires will also have a larger rotating mass due to the increase in weight. Both of these issues will result in a loss of low end torque. Your engine will have to strain harder to get the wheels rolling at the start. The smaller the engine, the more it will affect performance and put a strain on all components not to mention up-sizing, or installing a taller tire, will lead to a speedometer reading that is slower than your actual speed. This is because a taller tire will have a larger overall circumference, which will cause it to travel more distance per revolution than the original equipment tire.
16. fwiw, GM intends to build 2021 models till 9/24/21 as that is communicated to dealers as the build-out date... There is a nation-wide shortage of Rail cars and shippers are experiencing extremely high demand and that's straining the logistics systems.
17. Full size trucks and full size suv's are not affected by chip shortage per GM as all resources are going to those vehicles, their most profitable models. GM builds what they call pattern orders based on available parts and if a dealer/customer opts for one of those vehicles, it move fast into production. I was talking wit the a friend who sell them and commented why all the I4 trucks? He said, GM is letting us have all we want but with the higher trim levels, High Country and Denali on constraints, take what we can get. They got in 4 GMC's all the same equipped, trim 3SB Elevation, 2.7L engine and few options (3). They can choose the color but how they are optioned is up to GM. Surprising they sold 3 in the first week they had them, 3 were black..
18. Handheld GPS apps is only accurate to +/- 20 meters and sometimes can be way off if obstructions block some sats'.
19. Once is starts adding the AFM delete is to late. The piston rings are likely messed up from oil and combustion byproducts that the rings are not sealing adequately and oil is being consumed.
20. From someone who works at Flint (not assembly).
21. DOSP - Dealer Order Submission Process The weekly process consists of 4 stages. 1. Constraints Distribution - Dealers are informed on constraints to review before placing orders. (A Constraint is a limit placed on specific build configurations.) 2. Dealer Order Submission - Dealers can order on Thursday, Friday or no later than midnight on Saturday. (You can submit orders earlier but you don't know the constraints.) 3. The 4-Pass Process - GM will attempt to place each dealer’s orders on Mondays using a 4-Pass process. (At this point a dealer may get more or less than was allocated, if they asked.) 4. Dealer Review - You can review your placed orders for changes or replacements until Tuesday at 9pm ET. That's when the accepted orders are sent to production control.
22. 1100 and Dealer Allocation This causes a lot of issues. When you place an order with a dealer, the status is 1100. UNTIL Chevrolet ACCEPTS the order, it just sits there at 1100. You don't have an order with GM at this point. You only have a dealer requesting an allocation for a slot in the production schedule. Dealer Allocation is simple to understand - GM changed its model for producing vehicles a few years' back. Dealers are now awarded allocation based on past performance, as well as other factors. If you are sitting at 1100 you are not in line yet for production. Your dealer MUST get GM to accept the order. When GM accepts the order, all the parts are available and will be allocated to your car build. First, many dealers do not understand the allocation process. Second, dealers are told at the beginning of every model year the number of units they are expected to order. This is their Guide Number, so called because it is intended to help a dealer "floor plan." Third, many dealers confuse Guide Number with Allocation. Fourth, dealers are told every other Thursday how many Allocations (a portion of the Guide Number) they can use over the following two weeks AND this number of orders will be divided over two weeks. To summarize, say the dealer is given 50 units as a Guide, which means about 1 unit every weekly ordering process from 2 units awarded in the every other week ordering process. If the dealer sells a dozen trucks every year, change the 50 to 12 and reduce the bi-weekly consensus to conform. By the way, this awkward system meets laws and demands of court decisions.
23. My 2021 Sierra Denali has similar noise's when opening and closing door's.
24. Integrated - to incorporate into a larger unit The dash switch is just one part of a the system and adding it to a vehicle that did not come with those system components (rpo JL1) is useless because the rest of the JL8 is not in the vehicle, chips, wire harness's, electronic modules etc.
25. Its a sad thing but you are not the only one having problems. Friend was just telling me yesterday his GMC truck has been in the shop for at least 6 weeks waiting on parts. At least the gave him another similar truck as a loaner albeit a used one. Don't know exactly what part they need for his.
