6.0 Check engine light-1500HD

My son has a 2001 1500HD 4X4 with the 6.0 engine with 50000 miles on it..  A few days ago the check engine light came on.  He went to Auto Zone where they hooked it up to check the codes and it said "KNOX Analyzer".  $40 for the new part.  Where is this thing located on the engine?  Have to have it fixed before the end of the month so he can get the state inspection (Texas). ???

Thanks for the info.  We looked but could not readily see it.  So we dissconnected the battery and let it sit for about an hour.  When we hooked it back up it cleared!!!  Told him to get it inspected as soon as possible before it comes back on. :thumb:

Hmm, I'm thinking NOx, like Nitrogen oxides, like emissions? Is this correct?  or is it infact the 'knock' sensor?

If I were you, I'd tell the dealer that the analyzer was bad and ask for an exploded view to see what and where it is.  That would not obligate you to purchase it from them, but at least you would know what it is that you were looking for.   You could also get a manual, like Haynes, they are ok, but not great, it would definatly have the part in question listed in its index, that might not be a bad investment at something around $15-20.

ooops!  Thought we had it cleared.  My son drove it about a mile and the check engine light came back on.  Still checking for a solution. ???
