Best Fuel Economy Tune

I'm looking for a tune that will give me the absolute best fuel economy out of my 2007 Silverado 5.3L AFM 4x2.

Is there a tune that will allow the AFM to stay on longer?

Neither, it's software you load onto your laptop. It runs about $500 for std version, $750 for "Pro" version. Most tuners HIGHLY recommend getting the "Pro" version.

i really dont know why that is. for a tuning shop, sure, but the pro doesnt give you any more tuning control than the basic, just a little easier datalogging capability. not necessary at all, dont bother.

For mileage, I've been hearing good things about the Hypertech Econ unit. But I haven't used it personally. Otherwise it's going to be rather difficult to find out "which one is best for mileage" since it mostly depends on the driver and vehicle. Of course, that applies for tuned and stock as well.

truth be told, your best gas mileage mod is a DIC so that you can see when you are in v8 mode or v4 mode. similarly, you need the driver mod. keep your foot out of it...hardest thing to learn, but its what you need

One thing I really don't understand is people that are willing to spend a few hundred dollars to gain a little bit of fuel economy. Unless you're driving an insane amount of miles, it's going to take a lot more time than it's worth to make back that money. $300 can buy a bunch of gas.

Just my $.02

its worked well for me. with the purchase of HPTuners, you get 4 sets of tunes. i tuned my truck and charged 3 people $100 each to tune their vehicles for power/mileage. the tuner ended up costing me just over $100 and i saw an improvement of nearly 5mpg or 25% on the freeway. with $100 fillups, a 25% improvement will pay for itself in nearly no time

I'm not following. our 07 Tahoe we traded off had a mode on the instrument digital read out that would tell you when you were in V4 or V8 mode.?
