  1. We're getting the tail of the storm here that totaled just over 46 inches of rain in Maui over a few days last week. We've got flood watches in effect. This is also unusual for this time of year as winter turns to spring. I mean, it's often rainy, but this is a LOT of rain. The rain is also how we turn this place into mecca between mid-April and October.

  3. Uh. No. Not how that works. Rebuild or replace. If you want to minimize costs, get a used one and drop that in. Torque converter probably failed, took out the pump. The 4-5-6 clutch is probably smoked as well.

  4. Winter got its final shots in on my wallet over the last week. Last Tuesday it was kind enough to hail and punch holes in the roof panels of my gazebo. Then this Tuesday the cold snap finally did my original 2018 battery in. No warning, no fade to failing, just woke up today and she was gone. Charger wouldn't even touch it. Tested at just under 12v and all of 22 CCA, lol! Went to Wally and got an Everstart AGM for $170. Not too bad. But I am done with winter now.

  5. A must. The filter bolts are one time use. Use 24050764 bolt kit which will have the two filter bolts and then a couple others you won't need. The filter bolts happen to also hold the valve body in place, hence their one time use-ness. Pan bolts are 93 lb in torque spec. Filter bolts are : First Pass:(44 lb in) Final Pass: 128 degrees There is a note per GM on diesel 1500 10 speeds: For diesel applications, the transmission fluid level should be checked only after the TFT has reached or exceeded an operating temperature of 105°C (221°F). Once the TFT has reached or exceeded 105°C (221°F), let the temperature cool back down to 75-80°C (167-176°F) before checking the fluid level. The level check plug is on the driver's side of the case, towards the rear. You can fill it from there with the engine OFF at first until it starts to pour out and get as much as you can in then so its not a dry start. Put the plug back in, fire it up and shift through the PRND and back (spend about 5 seconds or so in each position to properly fill). After that I would fill it until it comes out while running and then drive it and cycle the temps as indicated. After that, engine running again, PRND and back and then set the level again.

  6. Over $3 in Texas is a warning sign.

  7. It is probably the torque converter coming apart and filling the trans with debris. DO NOT do anything lest the pump loses its prime and then it's dead. Have it towed to around the corner from where you are trading it in and cross your fingers that it makes it to their lot

  8. You do NOT because you have the WT trim and ZW9 box delete. All trailer lighting is handled via the relays and fuses in the under hood fuse box. Fuses 41, 55, 63, 73 and 81. Do you have any sort of aftermarket box, dump, body of some sort installed on this?

  9. Thats my thought. I am thinking with 135K and she doesn't eat any oil, runs strong, I am looking to find someone who does the DOD delete. My son-in-law knows a few wrench turners who work on race cars and may be up for this. I just can't see spending that amount of money on a truck going on 9 years old, even though it still looks good. If I am going to have to open up the engine, I am deleting the DOD crap cam & lifters.

  10. Damm, I know that is what warranty's are for but depending on what individual does the work I cannot help but wonder if it would ever be the same. best of luck and hope it turns out well. Yotaman

  11. Because it will met the requirements of either; along with a few manufactures requirements. This might sound silly but it works a bit like; "Not all eggs are chicken eggs but all chicken eggs are eggs". In the oil universe this formulation is both chicken egg and egg in a universe where all eggs are chicken. Many SAE and API requirements are 'one directional'. That is they may have a minimum but no maximum or visa-versa allowing a single formulation to meet the requirements of many standards. Sometimes Lake makes a conclusion based on a test where the statistical variability is wider than the point he is concluding. It's like trying to assess two pitchers based on one throw of he ball for each and then saying short pitchers are better that tall ones. Few things are as precise in practice as the median would suggest standing on its own.
