After a few years tollerating the check engine light I got tired of it and fix it. After a dozen of hp tuner scans with the laptop it came clear that the problem occured ocasionally and not permanent. At one scan I saw the low side fuel pressure drop fast. The high pressure stayed more constant. At all the other scans it didn't occured. So I figured out that the high pressure fuel pump was dropping pressure at the low pressure side. I replaced the high pressure fuel pump today and scaned it. No codes. I hope it is fixed now. It also was giving rich at the short and longtherm fueltrims. As before the replacement it was giving lean values all the time. I keep you posted on the progress.

I haven't been able to get on BITOG this week. Thinks I'm a robot and kicks me out. They have no idea how right they are.

Fairly new product, just picked up two bottles at Autozone, buy one get one free sale. Also sold at Advance and Walmart so far. The Restore & Protect oil seems to be a legitimate product. Now we will see if this unseats my Redline SI-1 as the go to cleaner. This product is NOT using PEA but some other proprietary chemical. Will be interesting to see some real world results…

Can’t really say I noticed any difference during treatment or since. Granted it ran perfectly before anyway so can’t expect much. My hope is lower fuel in the oil analysis.

The original GM part number appears to be 10144043 and the stick (not including handle) measures 27" long. Here is from the GM parts website. Dimensions show as 30.6" but I believe that to be the full length of the stick including handle. If you can't find an aftermarket stick to fit correctly, it would be worth looking for a used one at a salvage yard and cruising all the 4.3 and small block GM's close in age. Here's an expired listing for one on eBay to help you compare to yours and maybe do some searching for one. New tires are on, Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT's in 235/75/15. $100 per tire, after $10 AAA discount. Plus install ($100), disposal fees, and taxes. The new tires ride nice. Catch 22, new tires, I love it again! But I feel like I've been through the wringer with this rig, and maybe I don't need this kind of headache right now. Wait until tomorrow, I'll probably love it again and keep it another week. Never a dull moment: Got a CEL driving to the tire shop, P0172 bank 1 too rich. Oh lordy, really? I've been enjoying an emoji-free dash for too long, apparently. I popped the hood at the shop and I think there was a vacuum leak very close to the intake. Cleared the code and put a bunch of miles on it going home, code never returned. My fix was zip-tying the line on the vacuum reserve ball because the hose won't stay seated. It's either that or the fuel pressure regulator has an issue again or an injector is leaking. See why I'm getting tired of this one?! In the gas price thread I recorded 19mpg on the last tank in fairly mixed driving and some higher-speed highway (70). I also don't have the lower engine shield installed right now, and that would help with diverting a lot of wind underneath the truck. Not too long ago, a green '96 4-door 4x4 came up for sale with less than 1,000 actual miles. There was a story there but it was real, and the place wanted like $25k for it. Would be fun to have a NICE example of one of these, but not too nice. The joy is driving them. That's it for a while...family and social stuff all weekend, no time to play with my Hot Wheels in the garage for the next couple of days.

GM Brags About Not Discounting Your Next Truck Lmao, yeah we will see about that when it's November of 2027 and all dealer lots are packed full of trucks that the Dealers have been paying interest on for the last 10 months! They have averaged over 18% off msrp the last few years so I'm not sure what idiotic info they are pulling from that makes them think they will be able to move metal with no discounting needed.

I've been thinking of converting the Mirage to E-85. I have one station in the area that is $2.29 The rest are over $3! Does that make sense?

Yeah, they’ve really been hitting it hard with the R&D. If their oil wasn’t performing as well as it has been for people I’d say this just a cash grab/ marketing ploy. But the BITOG folks seem to think this may be legit too. Trying it in the Jeep, fuel has been a problem in the samples and while I have new injectors on the shelf, this is an easier proposition…

I might be missing something but not sure why someone would pay more for an LTZ or HC then spend more money to change the front end to an LT. Why not spend less and get an LT in the first place?

Looks very nice and well built. What does it do exactly? The website says it’s a five piece cap? I see it’s all stainless which is nice but 4k plus is a lot for a cap so what does it do exactly?

I know guys were switching the 2020-23 front ends from ltz and high countrys to the lower trims but i have not yet seen the new front end being converted. I have a 2024 Silverado 2500 LT coming that should be here in a week or so. Only took a year lol. I grabbed the harness from Gen5DIY. I got the part numbers listed below from my dealer as no part listings are online yet. I just am not sure on the grill my dealer gave me numbers for. I’m not sure if that comes with the chrome bars on it or not. It seems unusually cheap to have all the parts on it. They are also charging a core for the headlights when you order. 85620357 grille. $481 85615608 front fascia $530 ( comes primed ready for paint ) 86514718 headlamp $1319 86514717 headlamp $1319 listed incase anyone else is interested in the parts. Looking the numbers up online cheaper prices do come up than my dealer gave me. I will probably be going that route once I can confirm the grill. I will check with dealer tomorrow to verify the grill.

It does pretty much exactly what fiberglass truck caps do but in stainless. SmartCap is kind of a silly name for it. It comes in five pieces so it can ship direct to my door for a lot less that trying to get a single piece cap to my door. Since the closest place that I could get an A.R.E or Leer is two hours away and the base price of the fiberglass caps available to me from them start at $3,000 before adding sliding flip up windows $$, roof rack rails $ and such and then paying for installation $$, the cost difference was negligible and saved me the gas and time for a 4 hour round trip to get it $$$.
