  1. I think I actually drove much more conservative when I had my MBRP catback on my truck. I believe since I could hear it so much better it subconsciously made me think I was pushing harder on the gas pedal so I was always easing up on the gas. That and the fact that i remote started my truck at a job as I was walking up to look out the window to see if it had snowed again... One of the guys I work for was parked next to me (passenger side where the exhaust exits) as I the truck roared to life he threw his hands up and jumped lol. Oops.. Didn't see him there. Couldn't help cracking up but I did feel bad. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  2. I'm starting to get the opinion that if we leave the stock resonator and especially the flapper valve that it doesn't really matter what muffler we install in place of the stock muffler it's going to be fairly quiet. My Magnaflow has a deep mellow sound to it at idle just a little louder than stock. Probably a quite a bit louder if I floor the pedal but never uncomfortable to my ears. I really need to figure out how to use my GoPro so I find out what it sounds like outside the truck. I was going 70-80 mph yesterday on the expressway and really had to concentrate to hear it at all. Could it be the Active Noise Cancellation that's making it quiet on the inside? Maybe. However GM did a good job making these trucks quiet. Now if they could figure out how to build a truck that doesn't have interior rattling, and wind noise. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  3. Do you have the 5.3 ? If so I think the part number is 12586. That's the quietest over I believe. 3" in and out. The 12909 is for the 6.2. it has 3.5" in and out. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  4. That's strange. I have that muffler and I can't hear it unless I pin the flapper open. Do you still have the resonator on the exhaust? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  5. Removed the MBRP catback and reinstalled the factory one with the Magnaflow 12909 , stock resonator and flapper valve. Getting ready to take the truck in for Warranty work. Radiator is leaking in the corners and transmission ( 8 speed) is shifting like crap. I understand it's the nature of the 8 speed ( in GM's case at least) to have terrible programming but y the really soft shift from 2nd to 3 rd concerns me. Feels like it's slipping. Only way it shifts correctly is to mash the pedal every time I take off but I'm not going to do that. My father in law drives that way. Always takes off like a bat out of hell and goes through tires way faster then I do... And I have the 6.2 that every once in awhile is allowed to lay down a smoke show. [emoji16] I ended up "fixing" the rear least spring clunking with grease, I'm sure it will return. Not sure if I'm going to let the dealer dink around with my "Chevy shake" that starts at around 66-72 mph or not. They'll blame the tires I put on from my 2011. They didn't shake that truck and have been road force balanced even. Guess it's the price we pay to drive the best looking yet most frustrating trucks out there. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  6. Didn't have time to go back through the posts to see what truck you have. Just know that the Magnaflow 12909 is a 3.5" in and out. It fits on the 6.2 liter exhaust . I have this muffler welded to my stock system. Too it off for more found and went with a MBRP cat back. I found the Magnaflow too quiet unless I pinned the flapper valve open. I did have the resonator still on there though. It's a really good sound, deep and not crackly or poppy. Now I feel the MBRP is a tad too loud.. At least when it shifts it has a weird flare to the sound. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  7. Holy cow man..8 brake jobs on your GMT 900 ??? I was happy with the service I got from to similar trucks. Didn't need to do the brakes before 105,000 miles but did them anyway. Could have probably got another 25,000 on both trucks. They pulled a trailer that weighed 5000 loaded that didn't have brakes. That's just crazy.. Something's gotta be wrong there... Nice work on the zerks! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  8. Looks super clean. I want your black grill inserts lol. You can have my chrome. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  9. That blue looks awesome on the GMC's for sure. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  10. My only experience with Eibach was coil overs for my 1998 Z28 Camaro. Bought it knowing there was a slight lean to the car and it had a salvage title but hey I paid 5 grand for a 5 year old car that was nice looking and fast as heck. The Eibach springs made it sit even with a little extra compression on the springs on one front corner. My point I guess was I didn't notice the springs being harsh or too firm so my one experience with Eibach was good. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  11. I can only speak for the top (max lift) setting and it was right on what Bilstein said it would be. I'm interested in whether or not the 0 lift setting actually provides a little lift or not. I'm wanting to drop my Bilsteins down to 0 or the first notch. I have the max tow (NHT) and I've decided that after a year the ride is too firm. Compounded of course by having the stupid factory 20" wheels and max tow I'm thinking this is the worst riding combination on a K2. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  12. What size and load range are they? Looks real good. Wish I had a better experience with the Duratracs because they are a great looking tire. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  13. Looks good! Nice way to dress up the stock wheels. Colors look good too. I've seen this done twice before. One was a blue truck and one was red. The bright blue looked bad and the red wasn't much better. However I think with the Earth tones of your truck it looks so much better. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  14. I think I put them on in June/July last year. I was comparing the ride to my 2011 that I just had a Zone 2" level on. If course I had 18" wheels on it so I'm sure that helped the ride over these stupid 20's that don't belong in a truck that works for a living let alone a NHT max tow. I've noticed improvements in the pogo effect, side to side head bobble and cornering with the Bilsteins... Just wish they were a little more compliant on the stiffness. 15. Is your truck leveled? Do the work you did kinda gave it a cool pre-runner look. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  16. Not sure about a accurate answer but I have them at top setting with 275/60/20 and never had any rub. That's normal although this is the first winter with these tires and living in the Midwest were saw lots of snow. I had a constant issue with slush freezing and building up causing major rubbing when turning. Our trucks having these carpet wheel well liners really grabs and holds the road slush. I've been wanting 295/55's but I'm sure they would be worse. Going to add a spacer kit and take the Bilsteins down to the first notch. Hopefully it will result in a better ride too. These shocks are really stiff.. At least when maxed out. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  17. Sure they'll fit. Trim level really doesn't matter. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  18. I'm also in construction and I've found as a brand that holds up and it's comfortable to use Rigid is hard to beat. Tried many brands over the years and I've stock with Ridgid for the last few years. They're not perfect though Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  19. I'm only speaking of what I've seen on my 2011 6.2 and my 2015 6.2. other than a couple spots it's necked down to about 3" the rest of the pipe was 3 1/2" all the way to the exit. I have the entire stock system in one piece from the cat back in my garage so I'll try to measure it when I get home. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  20. In my limited knowledge yet extensive research I would think using the 6.2 liters exhaust would have a negative effect on a 5.3. I have the 6.2 and the exhaust pipe size is 3.5". I would bet you'd lose some torque down low in the rpms do to not having enough exhaust gas velocity. In fact I've wondered if the 3.5" is a little big for the 6.2 even. However maybe Borlas kit is 3" like some others which may be ok. What size is the pipe in Borlas kit? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  21. I've been considering doing this. I hate the honeycomb grills and especially the chrome one on my LTZ. I Chevy made all the grill frames the same with interchangeable inserts. Probably would have saved money on production too. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  22. Looks good. I like this style on the Sierra's much better than the Silverado's. I hate my honeycomb grill but can't find a aftermarket grill I like for my '15 Silverado. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  23. I've only seen the ext.cab 1500 4x4 come with the semi- floating 14 bolt axle. ( In a half ton) and it's a 6 lug. I don't think I've ever seen a reg. cab come from the factory with a 14 bolt.. except the 454ss. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  24. I never tried it when my exhaust was stock. However after swapping the factory muffler for a Magnaflow that still was too quiet i pinned the valve open. It sounded much better open. I didn't have any drone, chop or resonance either way. I have the square valve that has small holes in it. I opened it by hand and stuck a hitch pin in it.. Worked great. Yesterday I removed the stock system from the cat back and put a MBRB cat back on. Now that's loud lol Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  25. The 5100 rears are just shocks. No lifting ability. I will tell you they help with towing quite a bit as far as the bucking and side to side bouncing. They may lift the truck 1/4" in the rear simply because they have a lot of gas pressure extending them.If you want to solve your sagging rear when loaded and towing get a set of Roadmaster helper coils. They install quick and are adjustable for the weight you want. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
