  1. I think you mis-heard or the mechanic mis-spoke. Active Fuel Management AFM was designed to provide maximum fuel economy under light load driving conditions by deactivating the lifters on specific cylinders. On V8 engines, half of the cylinders are deactivated and on V6 engines, two of the cylinders are deactivated. Under certain operating conditions, the Engine Control Module (ECM) commands the cylinder deactivation system to deactivate engine cylinders 1, 7, 6, and 4 on V8 engines or to deactivate engine cylinders 3 and 6 on a V6 engine. The engine will operate on all cylinders during engine starting, engine idling and medium-to-heavy throttle applications. The Lifter Oil Manifold Assembly (LOMA) is only used on AFM applications. Dynamic Fuel Management DFM is the next generation in cylinder deactivation systems. It features AFM technology with the additional ability to deactivate any combination of cylinder valves to optimize fuel consumption. The control of every cylinder event allows peak efficiency to be obtained throughout the range of engine operation. (Fig. 15) Fig. 15 By extending cylinder deactivation to all cylinders, DFM allows for a large variety of firing sequences. DFM can have rotating cylinder deactivation patterns, such as 1/5, 1/3, 2/5, or 2/3, as well as fixed patterns, such as 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4. For rotating patterns, which are only available on small block engine (L84,L87), the cylinders being deactivated can change with each subsequent engine cycle. Transitions between firing sequences is done in a continuous fashion, making the transitions seamless and transparent to the driver. Oil Control Valves (OCV), only used on small block engines, replace the LOMA. OCVs provide faster response times than the LOMA and are required for DFM. OCVs also are used on L82 engines with AFM.
  2. Are you sure it has adaptive cruise? (iirc, the first year for ACC was 2020, but could be wrong) Forward collision alert / following distance indictor also has gap setting and shows vehicles ahead. (following stuff and Lane change alert has been around 8 or more years) If it has adaptive cruise it can be switched between adaptive cruise and regular cruise and will indicate which is active. KSG should be the RPO code of you want to verify by scanning the QR code on the sticker at the bottom of the doorpost. For 2025 model year KSG is standard on HC, optional on LTZ, ZR2, LTTB, RST, 1LT version of LT and WT. Not available on Custom, Custom TB or 2FL version of LT
  3. I don't know why the light is on, but the coolant temp gauge looks this this when displayed on the dash display shown in your picture. You might need to go into the dic setup to enable it and to place it in the location you prefer.
  4. Previous truck generations weren't this way, but todays standard bed crews OAL and bed dimensions are not the same on 1500 and 2500 Overall length for for Crew 4wd 1500 short 232 1500 standard 241.5 2500 standard 251 2500 long 267 1500 standard bed box is shorter and deeper than the HD one
  5. Good point - I should have included that, instead of just referring to the stock factory dimensions.
  6. Mine runs 190-200. Colder weather it takes longer to get there. The idling scenario wouldn't bother me at all.
  7. Perhaps time to visit another dealer? Some trims are not available in double cab -- but if the one you want is available on design/build that shouldn't be the issue. Production year is from about summer to summer. Seems early for them to have closed '25 order book yet. The crew is available with standard box. Yes, a little harder to park -- and too long for some garages if wanting/needing to park inside.
  8. For a 2024 any dealer can print it from the vin
  9. No numbers on it but there the truck will have a coolant temp gauge you can turn on ... It will have a 'red zone' to indicate it is too hot. They are supposed to also have several DIC messages for high coolant temp conditions.
  10. Tow/haul should stay active for to four hours of engine off time. After four hours it will be 'off' when engine started. On older generations tow/haul would shut off whenever the engine was shut off. I believe TCS and ESC will be turned on when engine is restarted. I guess the other modes will be off when the engine restarts -- but don't have specific info and haven't tested to find out.
  11. If holding either of the 2 buttons in Sept 8 post doesn't lighten or darken the display at night, take it in -- because they should. Imo. hidden behind the wheel and blinker stalk is a crappy place to but them. I find they need to be held, rather than just tapped, to change dash lighting enough to be noticable. Turning dash down definitely improves night vision, and perceived headlight effectiveness. These large video screens make if more necessary to turn the dash lighting down at night.
  12. oil I guess it depends on when the 23 was purchased since it could be anytime after about Sept/Oct 22 Figuring that with 8000 miles on a 23, it's possible it runs about 3000 miles per year so 3000 mile oil changes would be an annual thing. The oil life thing will also reach zero year after it was reset. Closer to 7500 miles on higher use vehicles
  13. I missed the part in the first post where you said you didn't have rain sense wipers...
  14. Turn the rain sense to off position and see if the issue goes away.
  15. Is that the 'change it once a year' program?
  16. Stops and starts and lots of speeding up and slowing down, with some idling mixed in makes for terrible mileage. If the city traffic is such that steady speed can be maintained, the mileage can be ok.
  17. GXD. Same time, same day, another angle
  18. I like to find a vehicle with the same paint RPO code as the vehicle I want to order so I can view the paint in the daylight. Got burnt once and want to never let it happen again. Not at night. Not at dusk/dawn. Not if it's raining. etc. Internet photos lie. Paint chips lie. Configurator shots lie. Computer and/or TV monitors lie. Take a shot of the QR code on the truck. It will have the paint code. GXD is Sterling Metallic on GMC / Sterling Grey metallic on Chev Satin Steel on the '21 , GXD on the '23 (on the right hand side) GXD from another angle GXD on same truck same time, same day, another angle -- seems darker?
  19. I'm gonna assume both your trucks were 2500's -- so one with the refreshed interior and electrical system and one with the 'old' system. (for 1500's, the '23's had the new electrical system) Did you get a new camera for the 2025, or are you using the one from the '23? One 1500's, the pre-refresh cameras will not work on the new electrical system, so HD's likely have the same issue. Good news is that the new cameras are reported to be clearer. At
  20. Free flow means it can be ordered. Ref only cannot be ordered, but is part of a package. Free flow items can be a package (some rpo's include other rpos) Both these are free flow YVU is a package of items KW5 is a larger alternator KW7 is the standard alternator It is Ref only -- to provides detail about the package it is included in
  21. Running 5k per year, and not needing the payload or towing capacity I'd suggest saving your money and driving what you've got. If your needs change -- deal with it then. Who knows, it might be a diesel dually that is required for the 'possible future need'. If a one time need pops up on short notice rent one or borrow from a buddy. If you're gonna proceed, and it seems lower price than most, spend some time and go over the options with a fine tooth comb. They are all a lot of money to later find out the price was better because it is missing something you want or would have spec'd if ordering one. A stock 2500 is taller than a 1500 that has the factory 2" lift...
  22. 2024 and 2025 order guide. Numbered notes are for the trim levels the note applies to. 2nd battery on LT8 is K4Z, and requires the the larger alternator (or the dual alternators) 2023 it was K4B, but still 700 CCA/70A-hr with same restrictions
  23. 3.0 is the mileage king. I had a 5.3 NHT and 6.2 that both got 19-20 Life of vehicle, one is in the 29's
  24. You probably just have the 'essentials' paper manual. You can download a pdf of the full Owners Manual from one of the GM sites https://www.gmc.com/support/vehicle/manuals-guides Manuals and Guides | Vehicle Support | GMC
  25. And yet it's the ONLY plant that builds both LD and HD pickups....
