  1. Entertainment update popped up on the screen the other day, The verbage said it would take 13 minutes. Let it load and NOW the Iphone turns itself back up when it disconnects. Fist Bump BAM Good Job GM coders appreciate it.............
  2. Zach-91 It would be great to know what your dealership had on the road force numbers, did they let you know the actual numbers when they completed the re-balance work? My suspicion is that GM may have set a minimum road force spec number that still leaves the vehicle shaking like a rag doll. Looking around at some articles online it looks like we may need road force numbers in the mid to low teens to actually get a non-shake vehicle?? I guess all manufacturers set these spec guidelines for the dealers. My guess is that the spec is probably designed to control the manufacturers warranty spend.
  3. I have a theory on the brake issue. I had a eerily similar problem recently happen to me on my 2009 Tahoe and I ended up having to self diagnose it as the dealership guys have no clue what to do except start replacing uber expensive parts. Believe me if it is on your dime (out of warranty coverage vehicle) they will be happy to spend thousands in just a few hours and NEVER EVER actually pinpoint the real issue. It will be fixed but you will be bankrupt in the process. GM will NOT allow the dealerships to do this to them no more than I would allow it myself, so they are still searching to find the root cause and it seems to be putting a lot of people in true jeopardy from having insufficient brakes while they fumble along doing part restriction until they find a root cause and a economical way to do the repair. Here is my Theory: Issue is the ABS assembly underneath all modern vehicles, it has an exterior mounted control module with electric solenoids. The control module to valve body gasket is bad which allows water to get inside and onto the solenoids. If you read back through the posts you will see numerous people mention automatic car washes. These car washes are forcing water at the ABS assembly and the leaking seal is simply allowing water into the control module and shorting it out. Usually happens shortly after driving though large puddles / fording deep water or going through your friendly neighborhood car wash. GM could easily replace all these ABS assemblies as a whole but the cost would bankrupt them so it is a self preservation move to stall until they pinpoint the issue. Once they figure out the exact problem is just a 300 dollar control module they will replace the individual part and add a better 100% seal gasket and everyone can motor on safely. In the meantime all these vehicles should be parked NO JOKE! Here are some pics of a typical control module that has leaked. Once the water shorts it out you loose Power Boost / Stabiltrak and ABS functions until it dries out a bit but eventually it will not be able to reset at all. Note to GM corporate: just direct deposit the 10 million that I just saved you
  4. Do you guys that have had the issue know what your build dates are? Just wondering if there was a bad run of parts or if this is something larger and may be a recall in the future......
  5. Change of strategy I called Bridgestone Tire warranty department directly, they said to take it by a local store. I have an appointment set for next Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. Hoping that if the tires are bad they can swap them out right then and do a proper road force balance without me having to go back through the "middle man" dealership. Anyone ever tried the direct route with the tire manufacturer rep and had any success?
  6. truck is a 2019 Denali Ultimate unfortunately I did not get a pic of the update so I do not know the exact description but remember it said that it would take 13 minutes to do and had something to do with the entertainment/phone system. Funny thing is I did not even notice the phone turning back up after disconnecting until a day or so later. Never even thought about the update affecting that but hey I am very happy that it WORKED for that. Keep a close eye on your center screen and you should see the update request when you stop and cut the truck off. Just follow instructions on the screen and you will be good to go! now if I can get the wheels and tires to stop trying to shake off the truck, Life will be good again........
  7. Dudes I have Great News. When I pulled up to park on Tuesday afternoon and cut the truck off a message came up on the radio screen that a system update was available. Said it would take 13 minutes and you could not start the truck lock or unlock after the update was started. I hit the start button and let it do its thing for 13 minutes. After this update was installed the phone (IPhone 7) volume still lowers when bluetooth connects HOWEVER IT NOW GOES BACK UP TO the previous full volume when the bluetooth disconnects. Life is Good Again LOL GM FIXED IT!
  8. 2019 Denali Ultimate with 22" wheels 600 miles is a shaker. Had in today and they road forced all the tires and it is improved but still shakes. One tire (RR) could not be brought into road force spec. They wanted me to drive it a few days but I can already tell it is going to be a problem. Hoping they will order me a replacement tire when I call them next week. (fat chance of it magically getting better on its own LOL)
  9. This is on Google Map when you look up the old closed down Mitsubishi plant in Normal Illinois. The last guys to leave apparently had access to a forklift and some empty parts racks and of course a sense of humor. Maybe the last ones out at GM will do something like this Haha We can all buy a Rivian Electric truck maybe? Rivian quietly brings former Mitsubishi plant back to life
  10. Update: Called another local dealer and stopped by their shop this afternoon they road force balanced all the tires. They found one tire they could not get into what they called spec. Asked me to drive it and see how it does. Well of course it still shakes, just not as bad as before. pic of service sheet above. I am not sure what machine they use but they said that all tires started out at over 0.080 which apparently is way out. The RR is 0.052 and man you can feel it. i guess I will call them next week and see if they will order me a replacement tire, maybe that will smooth this $68,454.00 MSRP baby out a bit. A man could get his feelings bruised paying that much cash for something that shakes worse than his ole beater ride 2009 Tahoe with over 220k miles / 3" lift / aftermarket wheels and half worn out oversize Nitto Grappler tires LOL.
  11. I have bought brand new 14 SLT (20) had some issues with it and went to Michelin tires and it was good / new 2016 Denali (20) no issues / New 2017 Denali (20) no issues / New 2018 Denali (20) no issues and now this 2019 Denali with 22in tire. This 19 with the 22" tires is a shaker between 68 and 74. Had it at the dealer yesterday for a recall. It has 500 miles on it and was told that they could not balance the tires or do anything to the tires till it had 1000 miles on it? Stopped by my local discount tire and can purchase a set of Michelin Premier A/S for around 900 with 75 dollar credit for the Bridgestones that are on there. I am not sure that the dealer has the equipment or skill set to solve the problem. If I knew that this was going to be a continuing issue I might just buy a set of Michelin Premier A/S tires and move on. Anyone swapped to from the factory Bridgestone's to Michelin Premier A/S tires to see if that is a fix?
  12. Yes I drove my truck again today (almost 400 miles in 2 mths LOL) and I am Ok with the bluetooth turning down the phone volume when it is connects, the problem is that the volume is not reset when the bluetooth is disconnected. So once you leave the truck you miss calls and texts and email alerts etc. I am going in for service tomorrow (tire balancing) and I will ask if they have figured anything out. The service guy is a younger fella (possibly a millennial) so he might be up on the latest news.
  13. MSRP was $68,454.00 paid $52,771.00 Plus TTL I bought locally this time and paid extra but still a good deal for me. I think the main factor is if the "deal" is right for you and your situation. Note to all you guys working a deal with Laura. I had quite a reality shock just recently they sent me a Pricewatch price and then would not honor it. I am not sure if there has been a management change or what? It was surprising after I had done several deals with them with zero issues that this came up. My local sales guy got to say "I TOLD YOU SO" and he got a sale LOL
  14. Icefisher - I intentionally pushed the gas pedal down before hitting the start button and mine still started like normal? So what were the parameters for the floor liner being over the gas pedal that made it not start??? Inquiring minds want to know................ looks like this thread is expanding and i am wondering if ole Icefisher might have gotten bamboozled by the service guy and still has a problem with his truck!
  15. Interesting, so the floor liner was pushing the gas pedal down and this prevented the truck from starting? A safety feature I guess.........
  16. Very strange the fix for mine was to pull the SD card and slide the side tab to the UNLOCKED position. Previous posters said it should be in the LOCKED position? Only had the truck a few days so not sure if it is really fixed or not...........
  17. I was wondering what those little buttons did on the door handles. That is cool I will check it out tomorrow..............................
  18. I have only had this 19 a couple of days but I kept missing calls and finally figured out same as these other guy that every time I drove this truck and the phone connected to Bluetooth the phone ringer volume was turned to the lowest level. I have a theory (tongue in cheek) maybe it is OnStar punishing me because I turned down their high pressure sales pitch when I picked the truck up......... Quote "Well if you don't give me a CC number you don't get your free month of OnStar" This might be considered a quid pro quo?
  19. The GM TwoMode Hybrids from a few years back utilize 2 electric motors inside the special 2ML70 transmission and use a dampener in place of the torque converter, it does not have a "starter' in the conventional sense the electric motor inside the transmission spins the engine (aka ICE) through the dampener to start it. The transitions are smooth as silk, really some awesome technology. It was just too expensive for GM to manufacture I guess. I needed a 4x4 for work and something that I did not have to worry about getting scratched/dented and that was CHEAP to buy. At $6,600.00 this Tahoe fits the bill perfectly and is really a fun truck to drive. I have put 23k miles on it in a year and it has performed well for a "Beater Ride" I think you are correct on the new GM trucks they seem to be utilizing the regular starter which creates a noticeable shake. i may just turn the silly AutoStop thing off I don't think that I will be able to tolerate it.
  20. I only have around 150 miles so far but the autostop feature on this 2019 6.2 10spd is a lot more noticeable than in my 2009 Tahoe Hybrid with 217k miles on it. I will have to research how they are restarting the engine in these newer products but whatever it is, it is not nearly as smooth as the Hybrid Tahoe from 10 yrs ago.
  21. Good Policy if you are GM. If I were to drive around in a new Ford (great technology) or in a new Dodge (great interior) that might begin to appeal to me and BAM converted over to a NonGM product just because I was exposed to it. it would obviously be GM's fault since they put me in it as a loaner!
  22. I don't know I bought a beater ride last year to drive to work. 2009 4x4 Tahoe Hybrid with the 6.0 w/AFM it had 195k when I bough it last year now has 215k and uses about a quart every 1000 miles. Runs like a top though so not complaining I just keep a 5 quart container in the back and pour some in when I notice it getting low. As stated here several times in this thread the oil usage issue might be contributed to by the people that actually follow the Oil Life Indicator down to or past 0. I never go over 5k no matter what the Oil Life says. The previous owner of this Tahoe obviously did not follow the 5k regimen LOL as It has a lot of sludge buildup in the engine. I changed out the drivers side valve cover (heavy sludge buildup inside) to see if that would help but it had already been changed and made very little difference. I am guessing that it has some partially stuck piston oil rings....... just a high mileage beater but probably an average example of what to expect with a GM 10 yr old High mileage engine.
  23. 2009 Hybrid Tahoe 209k has averaged 18.5 over the last 2500 miles real world driving no hypermilling mix of city and highway driving. HOWEVER it has a 3.5" lift and oversize wheels and Tires (Nitto grapplers) Uses around 2 gts oil every 3k miles. My driving style is aggressive at times with WOT and some tire chirping LOL that seems to bring the mpg down and make for some oil blow through. The Old beast runs and drives dang good....
  24. Did you replace the oil sending unit filter screen when you replaced the oil sending unit?
  25. I hate it when that happens. Only a few things that can go wrong right there. Could be as simple as, if you unplugged your MAF sensor assembly to remove the intake box and tube then it may require a few drive cycles to reset itself? When you put everything back together if you have a small leak anywhere in the air intake assembly it will exhibit idle symptoms. I would carefully take everything back apart and check for a cracked plastic or flex hose or ill fitting worm gear clamp, if all good then be sure that everything clamps back on securely. Another possibility is that if you were aggressively pushing the throttle body blade open by hand to do the cleaning then you may have gotten it out of calibration. You have to treat these like what they are "precision air metering devices". I would do a few drive cycles and then if problem persists take everything back apart and double check it for leaks. If throttle body is out of calibration the dealership might be able to stroke it and reset it without having to replace. Another potential problem is the MAF if it was improperly cleaned and or damaged it will also affect the idle. Only you know exactly what was done on your vehicle, hopefully this will lead you down a proper diagnostic path.
