  1. Lug Nut torques specs-Is it really that important? Yes
  2. Where did these videos come from and are they available in a longer format? Not long enough to tell much about it..... but looks like it could be a vibration SHAKE source
  3. LOL it is a big mystery maybe someone could start a 20 question survey for each truck owner so they could figure it out................................
  4. I run my truck in 4whl auto mode in the rain because the back wheels are spin happy. Sometimes I forget to swap it back to 2whl drive after the rainy days for several days or once several weeks. The drag from the auto 4whl drive will reduce gas mileage by 2 to 3 mpg everytime. If I were you I would be finding me a nice muddy field and make sure the 4whl drive is disengaged! Maybe the switch or encoder has gone bad on you?
  5. You know what that jogs my memory the stupid fan on thing happened after I changed the air filter each time on the 2014 and I unplugged the MAF sensor connector to make it easier to pull the intake hose cuz I did not know at the time that it would affect the computer. I just recently put a CAI on my 2016 and it specifically said in the instructions DO NOT UNPLUG THE MAF SENSOR I guess it causes a lot of things to have to reset? Dang Boy Live and Learn.
  6. I have the chatter on my 2016 Denali 6.2 8spd 3.23 rear end but only under very specific conditions as follows. 1. Engine has to be in V4 mode 2. Speed has to be between 55 and 60MPH 3. RPM has to be between 1200 and 1300RPM 4. Have to be traveling on a flat road and the V4 has kicked in then the road has a slight rise as i give it just a very little throttle (NOT ENOUGH TO CHANGE TO V8 mode) the engine seems to bog just a little trying to stay in V4 mode then sometimes you can get the chatter. I have found that it takes a good bit of practice to make it do this. 5. Gas octane does not change it one bit I am currently running 87 octane as a test to see if that made it worse and it does not. I usually run 93 octane. UTUBE link here. Note: I have the GM Borla exhaust installed so it is hard to hear but just turn it up and you can hear the metallic chatter. It sounds like the valvetrain or a lifter to me! It is just so rare and hard to get it to do it that I know the dealer will never find it. I guess it is up to us to do some research and try to get some good video and data. My guess is that it is the valvetrain and has something to do with the AFM system?................pretty sure that we will start seeing a lot of valvetrain failures as the miles are racked up on these late model engines. no way it will last making that kind of metallic racket! It would be real nice to catch it early (GM ARE YOU LISTENING) so that we do not have to go through all that crap and expense. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIxJ_5mrmCQ
  7. I had a few events that caused a severe drop in gas mileage on my 16 6.2 8spd let me recount them for you. 1. Had GM Borla catback dual exhaust installed, drop in gas mileage was noticeable and went on for around 2 weeks. NOTE: turned out to be a problem with my right foot, not anything to actually do with the truck! Sweet spot in sound is above 1/2 throttle 2. Had HyperTech Max Energy 2.0 part 2000 installed. Same effect as Borla exh system you have to test out the new power LOL 3. Had Cold Air Inductions CAI installed again same result as the other 2 items for a couple of weeks..................you have to get past 1/2 throttle to get the MOAN LOL Overall the 6.2 is getting what I consider awesome average gas mileage for a 6000 lb 4x4 with 420 HP. Note: The Denali Dash readout for average speed calculates all idle time / remote starts that and a lot of city driving is why the overall average is so low. I really think that if i took this truck out right now and drove very carefully on a 1000 mile round trip it would produce a much closer to 30mpg than 25mpg result!
  8. Did not realize that my second pic did not attach. Color Match on the Peragon cover is awesome in the Crimson Red Tintcoat. Most hard shell or metal type covers can be color matched. Plus look at the gas mileage with a nice Peragon cover on the truck
  9. did you stage that pic by putting dirt on that filter? haha that is disgusting
  10. Yes I had some strange issues with the cooling fan on my old 2014 5.3. The fan would come on at unexpected times and run for a good bit of time when i knew it was totally unneeded. Was intermittent and the dealer said waaaiiiiiit for it................. NORMAL
  11. Did you happen to take a pic of this rubber plug? Is your truck a 2016 1500? Sounds like you may have stumbled onto a possibly important issue here Mr SwampThing..
  12. The noise is hard to describe but is more of a Click (actually sounds like a loud lifter click) rather than a knock or ping that you would expect with detonation. I thought at first that it was the flapper valve in the exhaust clicking so I clamped it open just to be sure. Still there. Could be an issue with a lifter? just inconsistent and hard to make it do it. i have no way to verify the spark retard settings. Only live data monitor that I have is a INNOVA 3160 and I cannot see anything in the live data screens or in the paperwork that indicates a spark retard readout.............
  13. Mine tends to lose signal quite a bit. There are some hills here in middle TN and you can pretty well count on the signal skipping out regularly. I just pulled into a sonic drivein a few minutes ago and the canopy blocked the signal. I just flip over to one of my local HD FM stations which have much better quality anyway if you want to listen to music. I rarely if ever listen to XM music stations. The music signal is so compressed that the quality is about like an old AM radio. Hoping that they will open up some bandwidth one day and go to HD then it would be worth paying a few bucks for at least to me. Right now it is a take it or leave it thing for me once the free subscription runs out.
  14. Hypertech max energy 2.0 part 2000. Really only bought it because it allows you to set a speed at which the AFM only comes on above. I have the GM Borla catback exh and the AFM at low speed irritates me. The Hypertech has 2 options for tune Premium fuel tune and a Regular fuel tune. I ran the premium fuel tune for about 5000 miles with only 93 octane. Got bored so just changed to regular fuel tune and put in a tank of top tier 87 octane as a test. I am getting an occasional click when in 4V at very light throttle around 58 to 62 mph. Next tank will be top tier 89 octane to see if the occasional click goes away. Looks like the verdict is DO NOT USE 87 OCTANE with a 6.2 no matter what tune you use! Truck has around 11,000 miles on it so figured it was broke in enough to experiment on a bit. mostly city driving with loooong remote start warmups, the Denali DIC calculates overall average speed so that is why the 39mph average. that always seems to throw people off....
  15. Does your silverado have the inner wheel well liners or not? I was thinking that I might step up a size when I replace the tires but I do NOT want lift my truck. Does not look like very much room around these factory 275/55 R20's to the wheel liners!
  16. Had my 2014 repaired under warranty, they killed the seat heater doing the fix and the cooled portion of the seats never worked the same (as well) after the repair then it started shifting again after about a year. After about 4 trips back to the dealership monkeys I just gave up. Finally traded for a 2016 and it is doing well so far but disappointed to hear that some 2016 owners are having the issue. Come on GM its been almost 3 years since launch of the new platform lets get these bugs out man.
  17. Can you hear the pump run if you just turn the key to the on position without cranking the engine? You will need to be in a very quiet environment to hear it. If your fuel pump is going out sometimes multiple key try's will cause it to work for a few times (VERY FEW) Better go check this right now!
  18. Dang it man you have solved all the Direct Injection engines black chrome exhaust problems. Hated to go out today but looks like a new toilet brush for me haha
  19. Just installed a CAI will see if that makes a difference. (sure sounds good with the Borla Exh) I believe the fuel suppliers have changed over to winter blend fuel now so we may all see a slight drop in mileage anyway though....
  20. That would be my luck if I got a set. Got to be careful around those BFR's
  21. Cold Air induction intake kit came in today and installed on my 2016 6.2 Makes some good sound.......and looks cool as chit LOL
  22. Centrifugal force will disengage it just speed up above 25mph. Mine does that out on the farm in the mud quite a bit, it is a bit disconcerting the first time it happens just a quirky little thing, you will gte used to it. Your dealer will tell you......................wait wait wait for it........ it is Normal
  23. Big upgrade. Did you get the 6.2?
  24. Well I cheated a bit on the trip up I took 231 from Nashville to Chicago lots of small town with red lights and max speed was 60mph with some 35mph areas LOL. Came back down I65 and ran it hard hit the speed limiter about 6 times and then set in Louisville traffic for over an hour nearly dead stop and still got over 23mpg. The Denali dash calculates total average from all stops / idling believe me no one much passed me on the 470 mile trip back LOL
  25. I do not drive a 4.3 but was just scanning through the thread. I was curious how well the 4.3 trucks did on fuel mileage. I think the biggest problem with a TRUCK is it like trying to push a Brick through the air no matter what engine it has. Just not a lot of aerodynamic efficiency in the design LOL. I will have to say that I am not too upset with my 6.2 8spd after reading this, it is actually averaging over 20 mpg over its 8500 miles life so far. On a recent rip to Chicago a bit over 400 miles it averaged 25mpg (hand calculated at 24.8mpg so DIC is pretty much dead on) not babying it just driving the speed limit. Big ole 420hp V8 feels like it is just loping along with no strain at all.
