  1. Excellent pic thank you so much. I am heading outside to go to work and will check that out. I might have to stop by the Lowes and pick up some sticky back tape...........look forward to riding down the road without that FLUTTERING sound.
  2. I hate to bother you but would you happen to have a pic of that? I think your description of (Fluttering) is the perfect word. I see several plastic pieces under there but cannot figure which one is doing this, I will look for the spot rubbed shiny that you mentioned but I have not seen that so far.
  3. I have been looking under my truck to see if a plastic panel is loose or something and cannot find anything yet, it has a weird sound at anything above 60mph. It sounds like a plastic panel vibrating (hard to describe but is very irritating) I cannot find it............. Sierra build date 12-15-13 CC SB 5.3 Z71 4x4 has anyone else noticed this and found out what is doing it? Betting this is NOT the only one. Hate to break out the duct tape (as they say in Puerto Rico da race car tape) on a 50k truck LOL
  4. Matt you have got to get a license plate filler piece on the front of that truck! Then it would be perfect. I had to order one from dealer about 90 bucks.
  5. Wow and a 6.2 engine. Now this fella knows how to feather a gas pedal "hypermilling" You have to pay attention to what you are doing to get the really good mileage. I really think that most (maybe not all trucks some may actually have mechanical issues) are perfectly capable of achieving good mileage with the right operator.................. Just give it a serious try, set your DIC to the 25 mile range and start watching how your driving affects your mileage. You will probably discover that your driving habits are MUCH worse than you thought!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Dang it man are you yanking our chain here? Lets have some details. What truck (CC etc) What engine size What gears What tire size.. HOW MUCH? how hard is it to install? Do you work for Volant or have an interest in that company?
  7. Made a little trip up to KY yesterday about 500 miles overall. Running the E85 fuel now for a couple of tanks. It appears that it is not going to be as bad as I thought on the highway mileage. 2014 GMC Sierra CC SB SLT Z71 4x4 5.3 3.42 20" wheels. I will continue to buy the E85 I really like the feel of the increased HP and Torque it really messed up my first tank of E85 mpg my normally conservative driving was transformed into jack rabbit starts and tire barking. Now back to normal and mileage is just about right where the 10% ethanol 87 octane was at. Note I am tracking on the Fuelly site and it looks like the DIC is pretty accurate over the longer mileage ranges. I do not think the 25 and 50 ranges are far enough to be a true average but they are very good training guides for how to drive to get good overall fuel mileage if you pay attention.
  8. You da man oops I meant da GIRL. Glad you got it fixed I liked my 2009 Sierra SLT CC SB Z71 4x4 5.3 3.42 18" wheels but after the dealership scattered pieces including the transmission all over there shop I was done with it. I am sure it would have gone 2 or 300k more miles but when I drove a new one I wanted one. Now arwiltsey I like this little 2014 but it does cost some coin so you might have to cut short some of you mall shopping trips if you buy one haha.
  9. Looks like so far the average has moved down about 3 mpg. I had a lifetime average of 18 mpg on 10% 87 octane so going to have around 15mpg on E85 if my guess is correct. Keep an eye on the fuelly site "MyFavTruck" in the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 section. it will take several weeks to go through a few tanks and really check the drop in mileage to see how significant it is. I was just shocked that the HP change was that noticeable. Are the 6.2 engines Flex Fuel also? I would love to drive a 6.2 on E85 it should be well over 450Hp that is ground pounding LOL. If you were having a vibration problem and suspected the tires you could make them round with a couple of good burnouts VROOOOMMMM LOL
  10. I have a big issue that has popped up. I just filled up with E85 and after running about 100 miles the mpg looks dismal. I will not know for sure until I run a few tanks through. The issue and I guess you could say bright side is that this 5.3 engine loves the E85 you have to really be careful with the gas pedal as people will be staring at you because the rear tires are spinning on the slightest take off. you must gain over 50 HP with this alcohol fuel.
  11. How does it affect anything it is just a little flapper valve? Mine is mounted to the muffler outlet just in front of the rear axle on my CC SB Z71 4x4 SLT. It looks like something that is going to rust and freezeup either shut or partially shut in the future. Kinda stupid looking for an exhaust system. Who has removed it or locked it open and kept the stock exhaust system? Any effects maybe a louder drone noise or something? Oh and how can you be sure that the valve is 100% open when you lock the worm gear clamp on the spring head there is no way to see the flapper itself?????
  12. AW HELL RICKEY, I WAS HIGH WHEN I SAID THAT! QUOTE BY RICKY BOBBY'S DAD "IF YOUR NOT FIRST YOUR LAST"....................................TALLADEGA NIGHTS THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE LOL SHAKE AND BAKE
  13. KARNUT has it figured out it is simply MASS HYSTERIA. Now go take your meds and shut up..............................hahahahahahaha.................now myself here I am going to start pricing some new tires cuz my MASS HYSTERIA is sooooooooooo real that I cannot shake (Shake and Vibrate) it off. Pun intended.
  14. Wrong area for 2007 truck repairs but sounds like all you need is to replace the fouled spark plug. I could have driven mine for a very long time after it did this but it just did not make me smile in the mornings to go out and fire it up and drive it. Just go ahead and trade it on a 2014 if you have some spare change and stop fooling around with an OLD WORN out piece of crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Just a lemon man I bought used at 2 yrs old with 27k on the odometer so I got what someone else had already figured out was a piece of crap. The company where I work tried the Ford / Dodge and even Nissan GM makes the longest lasting truck on the road. They run all GM products (fleet of around 30 trucks) now after learning their lesson with the others. I was watching them and learned also. Other folks just have to make their own path and decision, mine has been made by watching what went on for 34 yrs....... .
  16. Transmission needs to wear in wow that really sounds like BS. You got to get them to put that diagnosis in writing man. haha The ticking seems to actually be NORMAL I felt the same way you do and made a trip through the dealer lot with my salesman and started about 6 of the 5.3 equipped trucks, they all had a ticking sound, some were a bit louder than others but they all have it. Apparently it is the Direct injection system that they are using on these engines. Dang things are probably programmed to blow up like a ticking time bomb at exactly 100001 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tick tick tick tick tick tick BOOM I think my truck came equipped with Square tires they really bounce hard after the truck has not been moved for a few days and the weather is cold. I believe that to also be the source of my whine noise and vibration at speed also. I have not taken it back to the dealer yet just over 4200 miles since Jan 17th
  17. Hi guys I have been watching my mileage fairly closely and so far I am very pleased with my truck. I hate to see anyone suffer through a problem that is not easily figured out by the dealer. It is going to cause a lot of wasted time for the owner and dealership. I applaud Mr Ton J for hanging in there and demanding that something be done. He took a lot of ragging on this one thread before everyone figured out that he was actually sincere. Mr Ton J please keep us updated on the results. Heck man after this is over YOU may be the one that makes the GM folks figure out their mistake and they can reflash/ retune all our trucks and we will be getting like 30 mpg from here forward BAM 2014 CC SB SLT 4x4 5.3 3.42 20" wheels ..........................
  18. Premium OH MY GOSH that costs extra cash!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL I thought about it but right now I have been running a few tanks of nonethanol 87 octane. Now this last tank I filled up with 10% ethanol 87 octane. Next 3 to 4 tanks will be E85 I did not want to shock the trucks system with all that alcohol and get it drunked up so I am running a tank of 10% before I blast it with the E85. Might try some Premium fuel at some point but I am hoping that these new engine controllers can tune the engine to burn the E85 just as efficiently as the nonethanol fuel. In the past they have not been able to get nearly as good of gas mileage on the E85 it just sounds counter intuitive to me that the E85 produces more Horsepower but burns less efficiently but I never got goods grades is science in school so I guess I just do not have the needed mental capacity to understand that. Several trucks on the Fuelly site now so if they actually keep their data entered correctly we should be seeing real world results pretty soon.
  19. what are these TAC#s never heard of that before. Is that like a TSB#??? Sounds like you got good results from this mysterious TAB stuff but what the heck is it??
  20. Man after reading that it really makes you wonder if the tires were the problem all along? How did they determine that the ring and pinion lash was out of spec? was it actually torn down and checked or they just decided that since it seemed to be vibrating that was the problem? Need more info if possible I am preparing for a dealer trip here to have mine checked out for a noise and vibration that seems to be coming from the rear area. I do not have much faith in these 20in Good (Bad) Year Wrangler SRA tires I suspect that is the problem with a good number of the trucks that have vibration issues. But could be a rear end issue I just find it a bit confusing that the lash being out would cause anything more than a noise and possibly shorten the useful life of the rearend (probably go out at exactly 101000 miles LOL) not sure that it could be out enough to actually vibrate?? Copperdawg remind me please, what was your rear end ratio on that truck and what is the build date for your truck? Mine is 3.42 with build date of 12-11-13
  21. I was thinking the same thing so i left my trip on for a while just to see. Pic attached
  22. My 2014 drove smooth as glass until just the last couple of hundred miles. I am getting a hum and whine from the rear area along with a vibration. I am right at 4000 miles. When I go back in for my first oil change I am going to get them to check it out. I too thought that there might be an issue with the rear end but my truck did come factory equipped with some questionable quality Good (Bad) Year Wrangler SRA 20in tires. Could just be the tires maybe? Mine is a 2014 GMC Sierra SLT CC SB 5.3 3.42 Z71 4x4 with factory 20in wheels. Why can they not check the axle? My gosh can they not at least check the fluid level or change the fluid and check for metal shavings or something? Do they greet you by name now or just run and hide since you have been there so much LOL. I have heard that the customer service poeple on this forum have been a big help to some people in communicating with certain dealerships maybe you could solicit one to help you with this? Somewhere their is a link for that but not sure where. If you read through enough threads you will see where they have offered other posters to help with their problems.
  23. wobble sound Hmmm I have something similar I think mine is a part under the truck maybe a shield or something has come lose it sounds like it wobbles when you hit anything over 60. If it ever actually warms up I may wash off the road salt and grime and sneak a peek under there. I cannot remember running over anything much. I sure hope a small dog or cat did not get under there and get caught in the suspension or something
  24. WHERE DID THIS PINION GEARS NOT MATCHING UP, CHEWING UP WHERE THE DRIVE SHAFT MEETS THE REAR info come from? I am at 4000 miles and up till this point the truck has been smooth as glass but now I am getting a slight roaring noise and a vibration which seems to be coming from the rear end!! My wife was riding in the back the other day and kept asking me what the funny noise was, she said it sounded like a whistle/whine at certain slow speed when accelarating. I just figured the tires needed a good balancing but now it seems to be getting worse and I can hear it myself even with my old worn out sheet metal worker ears. I still have a ways to go to the next oil change but when I go in to the dealership for that I will get this checked out. Is there a TSB number for this pinion gear problem?
