Update on 2014 Crew Cab SLT Z71 4x4 5.3 engine 3.42 rear end. It seems to be improving slightly as I get a few miles on it. I took it to OHIO last week and ran one tank of E-85 plus ran in 4wd auto over 1/2 the time (forgot to switch it no dash indicator light you know) so I think that may have been what caused the lower mileage on the first 1000 miles or so. 2014 GMC Sierra Crew Cab Z71 4x4 3.42 gears bed tonneau cover. approx 1300 miles 15.8 average and 20.6 best shows on DIC. mostly highway miles at higher speeds 75 to 85. Used one tank of E85 fuel which may have skewed it a bit all other has been regular unleaded at 87 octane. I traded in a 2009 GMC Sierra Crew Cab Z71 4x4 3.42 gears (bed cover tonneau cover was transferred to this one at dealer new truck had less than 10 miles on it) Now old truck was not flex fuel so I never used the E85 but always ran the regular 87 octane and it showed a average over 87k miles of 18.1 Hopefully this 2014 will do better I am basically driving the same routes at the same speeds as before so I EXPECT at least 18.1 dang it. I will have to do a manual test to check the DIC accuracy but I think it is probaly pretty close my old truck was always within 1 mpg when I manually checked it. Now one thing on the old truck it was an oil burner, it used a lot of mobile1 motor oil so maybe that was really helping the fuel mileage LOL. I see a lot of people on here claiming over 20 mpg I want some of that but do not want to drive like a granny out there either.

Had my tires rotated today at Sam's (sigh) they never reset the TMPS for me so anyway while I was resetting it to correctly identify which one is on which I first let the air out of one until the TMPS light illuminated on the dash then tried the remote start. THE TRUCK STARTED Normally with the remote start so I was wrong about that. Recently when the #1 cylinder spark plug fouled and set a code the remote would not start but the key fob did still lock and unlock the doors.

Hey guys I have found that ANY type of trouble code that pops up even if it is a low tire sensor prevents the remote start feature from working. The post reads like the keyless entry did not work either? but mine is a 2009 so not sure how the 2007 was setup. On mine the key fob still locks and unlocks your vehicle and the remote start is the only thing that is not working when you have a stored code in the OBD system. I think I would check that and erase them (after you fix the cause of course) I know it sounds ridiculous but that may be the way it works. I had a friend who had a TMPS in his SPARE tire. Now his system did not identify the tire locations just gave a low tire icon he got pretty darned frustrated as all the tires on the ground were at full pressure he never even thought about checking the spare tire LOL.

Hey guys I saw the post and it was very familiar to me. I was also freaked out when my check engine light came on recently and the traction control icon and service stabilock system came on. Apparently anytime the engine has a problem it goes to Limp Mode and turns off those 2 systems for safety I guess. Anyway my truck is a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 crewcab with the 5.3 LH6 (aluminum block) with 86,000 miles. The engine had fouled cylinder #1 spark plug P0301. Has had a oil usage problem since I bought it in 2011 with 27k on the odometer. I had read that 1 quart every 2k miles was considered normal by GM so I never really worried about it i just made sure and check if from time to time and kept it full between oil changes BUT if it is going to foul the spark plugs I have an issue with it now. I am seeing lots of posts on the internet from people with the same issue. I just joined this community and will continue looking around. Would love to get some feedback on how common this excessive oil usage really is.
