  1. That’s ok. According to my son and daughter in law, Realtors. They can’t keep up with demand. My whole family moved from NJ to Texas as well as my wife’s. If you don’t like Texas we don’t want you. Tell everyone Texas sucks, that’s just fine with me.

  4. I use Valvoline quick lube. They use oil from a drum. Being most vehicles use 0-20 I find it hard to believe they would use anything different unless asked. My recipe says oil specified as well as my window sticker. Most vehicles specify the weight on the filter cap. I’m skeptical to say the least.
  5. I understand that’s why I live in Texas.
  6. We had a brief shower by Texas slang resulting in about an inch. Along with a front that brought a bit of a breeze up to 35 MPH. And a slight drop in temperature from 80 to 50 degrees as the front leaves. A normal week by Texas standards.
  7. There’s state that don’t have inspections. Texas just became one in most counties. It’s a good idea to go to the dealer or a trusted shop if you can’t do it yourself. I get a check up at the dealer once a year with my vehicles. Quick lube shops for the most part don’t check much.
  8. I think Valvoline Restored and Protect probably put the notion of all the same to bed. If nothing else. I haven’t read anything challenging their claims.
  9. With the miles driven I would do a low mileage lease. If there’s issues you just walk away without the worry of unloading. If it passes the muster then buy it. If buying is the only consideration whoever has the longest warranty. I wouldn’t be in too much hurry to unload the old one. Experience has taught me you can drive a vehicle once a month about 20 miles and they’ll stay ready to go.
  10. With the exception of trips 3-4 times a year now about 1000 miles total each. Everything I need is within 8 miles. I drive daily to one of 3 walking trails. Each about 8 miles one way.
  11. My experience so far getting close to 200K miles so far. The Honda Odyssey cost 6000$ to go past 100K with maintenance and tires. Regular service up to 166K sitting at 10 years old. The Ridgeline getting past 100K miles about the same. The odyssey has had no issues. The Ridgeline needed at 150K a steering rack, a CV joint at 160K a 1200$ alternator. It’s still within its worth it zone. The Odyssey will be about 15 years old at 200K miles, the Ridgeline about 20. Using the dealership. Trying for maximum mileage I only use Honda parts. Just regular maintenance and tires will probably exceed 8K. Then you add suspension parts that will probably be due and other possible repairs. The worth it is very questionable. There’s probably some that are worth it. Like pepper. It’s a classic. Vehicles like Honda and Toyota. Minimum maintenance like severe duty 200K run to the ground. Or sell and upgrade to another 10 year old 100K mileage model. With car-fax and other such reports it’s easier today.

  13. You may want to do a little research on 6.2s since 2020. I’m not interested in either myself. The Shelby Supersnake f-150 my brother drives has been flawless. As well as the Raptor R his son drives. And the Regular Cab f-150 with the Roush Supercharger package our shop Forman drives. My other brothers Escalade that his wife’s drives has been fine so far. It’s a 2019. They’re supposed to be ok. The chart seems suspect to me. I have a Ridgeline and an Odyssey with over 165K that have been flawless.
  14. True. But if you’re looking for performance and max pulling in an SUV. Fords V6 beats the GM SUV to 60 by more than a second and tows more. If you want more a tune will add more.
  15. There isn’t much you can do with newer vehicles by design. My brothers Escalade just came off warranty. Even something as simple as oil changes can be challenging. He took it to a Valvoline quick lube instead of the dealership. They wouldn’t touch any newer than a 2019 6.2s. And use anything other than the recommended oil weight. 0-20 only not 5-30 like he wanted. He ended up doing it himself.
  16. My first job after I got my license was pumping gas. It was a garage. He was a tad cheaper to build repeat business to get repairs and oil changes. After moving to Texas I often fantasized having a full service gas station because everything is self service here. Along with minor repair work and oil changes. Instead of a convenience store like they morphed into.

  18. I’ll admit it’s been awhile. I’ve experienced at least 6 hand held tuners. During that time I could adjust shift points, RPM limits, advance timing to use high octane fuel and later adjust for E-85. All claimed up to 30 HP gains or more. That along with cold air and tuned exhaust. Made the driving experience way more enjoyable. Especially merging on to freeways. Yahoo. Did the numbers actually bare that out? Who cares it felt like it. Why else would they now put different modes to choose from even in trucks? They even add sounds to electric vehicles. With force induction there’s no doubt. I know been there. To ask means you just don’t get it.
  19. Add food to that list. After 30 weight gain becomes an added concern. Thank goodness for weight watchers for me. Kids, HA HA. It’s amazing how different they can be. One is a complete joy. One can be a worry. They other is like having an Italian sports car without the fun, expensive.
  20. I filled my Odyssey and Ridgeline before the increase. Thinking I’ll make the turn around. The Ridgeline is approaching 1/4 but the Odyssey is over 3/4. I’m thinking I’ll make it. The wife’s Genesis didn’t it cost 5$ more to fill up. Isn’t amazing how a drop per barrel takes longer to reach the pump than vice versa. Well no not really.
  21. You buy a V-8 from Ford you can get up to 775HP. I know of two in my family. Our shop Forman had the kit installed from the dealer on a 5.0 work truck. It beat my brother’s super snake truck. I guess once GM figures out how to keep the 6.2 together maybe they’ll add more HP.
  22. I’ve mentioned several times over the years how Amsoil hydraulic oil has save my company thousands over the years. And how in the 80s through the early 2000s we went extended up to 25K miles with their oil. Extending hours in our ROW equipment. Did oil analysis and became a dealer. Other oils eventually caught up or at least got close. I don’t drive as much retired and don’t go extended. And I drive in town more vs highway. With the changes internally with most engines extending oil drains is not advisable for most people. I’m convinced 5K oil changes should be the maximum. I don’t use one brand anymore. Honda oil, Valvoline, GM, Mobile one and Amsoil. Who’s the best? I don’t know. If I did my own changes I would use Amsoil. All my daily drivers are plus 150K and use no oil. I know Grumpy test all the time with real world results. Can’t go wrong there. That’s my 2 cents.

  24. I just read that most 6.2s from 2020 are having issues, most blowing up. Good luck. Government is involved could be catastrophic for GM
  25. I don’t like cylinder deactivation. My odyssey has it. It is on way longer than my GM was. I got it from my daughter by trading my mother in law’s CRV for it. She went by the minder. I did several quick oil changes and do 5K oil changes. At 166K I can’t tell except for the light it’s on. With a lite foot I get 25 MPG in town. Same at 72 MPH on the Hwy. My brother in law with his 2013 Tahoe at 180K with 5K oil changes has no issues. Both of us will keep them until they die. They ain’t worth much. Except to us.
