  1. Got it done. I ended up using zip ties to attach it to the back of the grille. It clears the shutters no prob. I tapped the high beam fuse under the hood so the high beams activate the relay to turn it on. I may add an additional on/off switch at some point depending how I like the high beam setup. The nice part is I didn't have to drill any holes or cut any factory wiring.
  2. I agree with Cam..I have had several diesels and have never put additive in them, never had a problem. One of our 2005 Duramax 3500 trucks has just over 500k on it, never had any additive put in it. On a side note, the Allison is still untouched on that same truck.
  3. I think I'll continue to plug the cord in for the estimated $800.00 cost. Pretty cool they can do it though.
  4. On Cam's note on keeping DEF on-hand..Unless your in an extremely remote area, I've never had a problem finding DEF and you should never really be in a situation where it is needed immediately. The new trucks have somewhat of a gauge and you'll get a notice on the DIC indicating miles remaining as it starts getting lower, so you'll have plenty of notice. Otherwise agree, drive it normally..
  5. I couldn't care less about bragging rights. The Duramax is more than capable as is and has a track record of reliability. If they want to raise the number on paper for marketing purposes, that's fine but the reality is it doesn't need it. I agree with nick112288, provide more gearing options to tailor the trucks.
  6. I have 20x9 +18's on my 3500HD with Nitto Terra Grappler G2's in 295/65/20. I pulled the liner back in the front a little with a zip and have no rubbing leaving everything stock.
  7. Got it. Thank you for the info.
  8. I'll take a closer look. I was just concerned it would interfere in some way then cause a code to popup. Do you have experience with this already? If so, could you add a picture or two of how it worked out. Thanks
  9. So I just discovered my truck has active aero shutters. I don't think behind the grille LED's will work and I don't see any other option other than a bull bar of some sort for mounting them.
  10. My 2020 3500 SRW HC Duramax was built on 8/20. Has shutters. No plow prep but does have the 5th wheel prep package. Does anyone know if the winter cover is absolutely necessary if the shutters are primarily closed in cold weather?
  11. I'm considering adding an additional LED light, either a light bar or additional LED driving lights. It looks like the only spot would be behind the grille, I really don't want to add a bull bar or anything like that. HAs anyone added any yet?
  12. I agree with most of what you said. My only comment, as a long term Duramax owner, to those weighing gas vs. diesel, mileage, capabilities etc..is that the emissions systems aren't "fickle" as to suggest they are on the edge of failing at any time, they aren't. Buy for what your needs are, drive both and decide if the extra cost is worth the diesel. The diesel also carries a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty where gas is only 60,000. Just something that might narrow the gap if anything goes bad on the gas version after 60,000 that you'll pay out of pocket. (not likely as the GM gas trucks are rock solid) but something else to consider.
  13. Adams makes an interior detail spray that works great. Not shiny or greasy.
  14. Not the same size tire but thought I'd try to answer the barely clear question. I have 295/65/20 on +18 and they just rubbed on the front of the fender liner. I tied the liner back and there is plenty of room now, no rubbing all stock. Took about 5 minutes to zip tie the liners back.
  15. Sounds like you got a lemon. Removing the signal light from the mirror glass was the best addition by subtraction on the entire truck IMO..Those things were blinding at night.
  16. I put the larger factory guards on my 3500 SRW. Took about 10 minutes to swap all of them.
  17. Too bad they don't offer a power open and close. I'm spoiled now with that feature on my HC.
  18. Rarely, if ever, do the outgoing MY vehicles rebates rollover to the next. Just my personal observation.
  19. Is the bed view camera actually "new" or is it just new in the sense that they moved it to the rear view mirror. I think I remember reading something about it having a new zoom feature but can't remember. If its just the fact that it was moved to the rear view mirror from the main screen, thats a step back if you ask me.
  20. I haven't heard of any issues with the camera system. I'm on my 2nd 2020 and had no issue getting or using the camera system, works great IMO.
  21. My current truck has a cargo bed view so I'm wondering if they're adding the option to zoom in if hooking up a fifth wheel or goose neck? I could see this being very helpful.
  22. i had more issues with my 2017 than I had on my 1st 2020, put 40k on it and just traded it in. The issue here is the def gauge, 2017 didn't even have one, mine has been pretty accurate though and even if its a bit off I really wouldn't call a serious issue.
  23. I'm getting no where near that but I do tow frequently. I think that's probably right if just running the highway unloaded.
  24. I traded my white 2020 HC 2500 Duramax for a 2020 Silver HC 3500 Duramax. I had just over 40,000 miles on the 2500. I went up one size on my tires from 285/65/20 to 295/65/20 Nitto Terra Grappler G2's. Rims are 20x9 +18. Kept the bars stock on the 3500, just pinned back the front of the liners a bit with zip ties. No rubbing at all.
