  1. They will fit no problem on stock rims. I have Nitto G2's in 295/65/20 on my +10 offset aftermarket wheels and just needed to pull the front of the liner back a touch. On stock rims, you should be good to go with no mods.
  2. Both of mine have been flawless (48k on one and 33k on the other now). I haven't read of any serious issues with the 10spd Allison so I think your experience is probably isolated, bummer though.
  3. I believe there is a recall on 6spd transmission cooler lines. We had issues with two of our 6.6 gas trucks, one of which required replacing the transmission. Other than that, I think they're fine. Now don't get me started on how much better the towing and driving experience is with the diesel and 10spd. Discussions like this always seem to get strong opinions one way or the other.
  4. Looks great! Nice to see some chrome, it seems every truck on the road has black rims now...all starting to look the same! I just swapped my black rims for chrome to stand out a bit from the black wheel crowd...That said, I still like black wheels, just wanted a change.
  5. I would think if you were able to order it that way, it would not be an issue. I wonder if the dealer messed up? Sounds like a new set of Weathertechs are in your future.
  6. Yes and no. The gas trucks are for my business and the diesel is my personal truck. I drive almost every weekend (220 miles) to our cabin. I have used the gas truck twice to tow the same trailer I'm usually pulling with the diesel. The biggest thing I notice is the engine revs and fuel consumption of the gas truck. Like others have said, the gas truck gets it done just fine but there are certainly trade offs. The diesel is simply a much nicer drive, quieter and much better on fuel. Not having to make the extra stops for fuel in the diesel is important to me, not necessarily the actual MPG numbers. They should probably offer a larger tank for the gas version. In fairness, the gas trucks are work packages and the diesel is a HC so I haven't compared the drivability of the gas HC to the diesel HC but the powertrains are the same for fuel/power comparisons. As others have said, the 6.6 gas is more powerful than the old 6.0 and tows the trailer fine, if they paired that motor to a 10spd auto I might consider giving it a try for my next truck. The 10spd in the diesel is incredible..love it!
  7. I own both, 2020 3500 HC Duramax CC and two 2020 2500 HD CC gas trucks. I can tell you firsthand, Nards commets are pretty close to accurate. What is actually misinformation is the statement that most people buying HD trucks aren't concerned about mileage. Just spend a little time looking at the forum and you'll find endless discussions about it. Both trucks have their purpose and choices are great, can't go wrong with either if you decide it fits your needs/wants.
  8. Actually theyre not. What someone reads on the interent is a very small number of the overall owners with issues. People generally don't go to the internet to post they have no problems. My personal experience with the Duramax is one of reliability. We've actually had more issues with our gas trucks (2020 6.6 work trucks with tranny issues) than I have had with my last 3 Duramax trucks. If you want more options, buy the gas truck, if you want a much better driving experience IMO, buy the Duramax. Again, its not just the motor, its the 10spd tranny that has been phenominal so far. You also get a 100k powertrain warranty with the Duramax to cover all of the endless issues you're going to have.. That all said, IF they ever offer a 10spd in the gas version I would at least consider it.
  9. I'd go with the Duramax simply because I enjoy the diesel driving experience much more than the gas. I have both and there is no comparison in power while towing. I also prefer the way the Duramax drives empty. As others said though, the gas will get it done, just not close to the level of the diesel. Oh and don't forget about the 10spd that comes with the diesel, its awesome and the 100k power train warranty. I have had several GM diesels and all have been great so don't over react to those that whine about the diesel emission systems, few and far between.
  10. You don't realize how good HD radio is until you no longer have it. Now if you stream or use XM primarily you probably won't miss it at all.
  11. We have three with many more miles than yours, no issues with the brakes so far. Sounds like a problem with the electronic parking brake perhaps. Let us know what they find.
  12. Not rteally what I was saying. If it was actually available on a package when I bought you would be correct. What I'm saying is they've had a history of adding options/features a half year into production. I provided my example of the nicer mirrors that came out 6 months later on my 2015 and it seemed like it might go that way again on my 2020 with adaptive cruise. So far adaptive cruise hasn't happened and who knows if it ever will on the HD's.
  13. The factory offset is +47. I think that tire on +18's will be tight. I had to tie the liner back on my +18's with 296/65/20.
  14. The factory offset is +47. I think that tire on +18's will be tight. I had to tie the liner back on my +18's with 296/65/20.
  15. This is so not the way it works. The diesel can be driven without ever towing and not have emissions issues.
  16. A lot less cleaning of water runs etc with the matte black. Mine are matte and very low maintenance, no scratching or wiping again after driving down the block and all the hidden water runs out to the lip and sprays all over..lol
  17. 295/65/20 +18's on mine. Had to tie back the front of the liners and now no rubbing, stock height.
  18. More to the cost discussion than what a calculator shows. It comes down to how you define "cost or price". Strictly dollars wise I think the gas owners can make an argument. But for me the true cost/value of the diesel is the far more satisfying experience every time I drive it either empty or loader. If I have to crunch numbers because that difference is so tight, the diesel is an absolute no brainer. I always hear about the emmissions horror stories too that are way over blown and very isolated plus the Duramax combo has 40k more of drivetrain warranty than the gas. The gas trucks get the job done but when asking about gas vs diesel cost of ownership there is much more to it than just the $$$, its the overall experience. Also don't over look the 10spd tranny, its absolutely awesome if you haven't experienced it.. Point being for the original question posted or anyone else asking the same question, There are intangibles beyond the numbers that should factor in.
  19. That would have been a 1500 model, not an HD.
  20. I would disregard his statement. Clearly has no idea how nice these trucks drive for HD's, you will be impressed.
  21. When my diesel was down, i drove the gas truck and it was significantly more thirsty while towing. I pull the same trailer many weekends to my cabin and the gas truck barely made it, while my Duramax would still have over half a tank..nothing scientific just real world experience, Like I was saying as a response to the original post, IMO if towing 8k in the mountains, I’d buy the diesel and in that scenario (mountain towing) you would miss the exhaust brake. The diesel is much quieter and hums along barely breaking a sweat, the gasser felt like it was really working hard..high revs, noticeable shifting etc..BUT it did get the job done. The issue my Dmax had was an electrical problem with DEF tank heater, yes emissions related, but more of a supplier issue with the def tank change, This is the 1st Duramax that I’ve had an issue with so hopefully it will be good to go now. I agree though, certainly more to go wrong with the diesel. That and the initial cost of the truck is why we went for gas trucks. Again offer a 10spd with the gas and I’m interested.
  22. I'm on the fence on how to respond given you already bought the gas. Ok..so the 6.6 gas will get it done, no mistake made! BUT If I were towing 8k in the mountains, I'd spend the extra for the Dmax, it is a flat out towing beast! Flatland towing would leave more room for debate. My personal truck is a 2020 HC 3500 Dmax but also have 2020 gas HD's for my business. I have had issues on both trucks. The duramax needed a def tank replaced that left me w/o a truck for 3 weeks. The funny thing is we've had more issue with the gas trucks so far. One has had two high pressure fuel pumps replaced as well as an electrical gremlin. The other had a tranny cooler line pop off and destroyed the transmission (truck was just out of warranty). Bottom line it really depends on what you want, both good trucks that will handle whatever you need them too. Now if they offered a 10spd with the gas motor, that might get me interested.
  23. My guess is the ground. Also, I think the trailer might pick up a ground through the hitch. One of my trailers will work fine when its loaded with plenty of tongue weight but when most of the weight is on the rear of the trailer it triggers the message you've been getting.
  24. As a side note, the AT4 HD is no different in towing capability compared to the other similar GM HD's, its an appearance package. The half ton version gets a 2" lift.
  25. You need to order the Canbus along with your bulbs. The canbus increases the voltage signal to the trucks computer so you don't throw any codes. The bigger issue (IMO) is getting an LED to work in a non projector beam housing so you don't blind on coming traffic..we've all seen this.
