  1. Great! Now I'm second guessing! lol. The thing is though, aren't the 2500 and 3500 essentially the same truck with different rear springs? My thought is similar to yours in the sense that if the gas is ok in the 2500 and the only real difference is the rear springs, why not just get the 3500 with the gas motor? Now if I was going DRW, totally get it.
  2. Understandable wanting to stick with the 6spd when you've had good luck with it. I had similar feelings when I had the 6spd Allison in my 2018 Duramax and heard they were going to the 10spd Allison. I didn't think it was necessary, the 6spd seemed flawless but after putting on 150k between two different 2020 HD's with the 10spd I would not want to go back to the 6. Hoping that is the same with the 6.6 gas getting the 10spd, the 2024 I ordered will be the first gas motor I've had in an HD truck for quite some time.
  3. I've had diesels the last several years and currently driving a 2020 3500 HC. I'm a big supporter of the Duramax/10spd Allison branded combo, it drives great (even as a daily driver) and I've had great luck with it..none of the "emissions nightmares" that some publish. That said, I do achnowledge that there is more to go wrong, I just haven't experienced it. However, I've said that if they ever offered the 6.6 gas with the 10spd Allison I 'might' give it a shot and that's what I'm doing. Ordered a 24 3500 HC Gas, same configuration as my diesel so will have a fair comparison. I just wish I knew the price difference for the gas vs diesel, I would think the difference would be less given the 10spd Allison is now used in both trucks, but who know.
  4. I thought the later release was ZR2 not Z71
  5. Do you know what the stop order was for? I've had an order in since the end of July on a 2023 High Country 3500 D-Max. Truck was built in Canada and had showed an "In-Transit" status on the Chevrolet site and the dealers website. Its been that way for about 2 months showing delayed status. Now it recently dropped from both sites completely. I had a chat with Chevy support and all they could say was its delayed with no other info or scheduled delivery dates. Really leaning towards bailing on this one and just ordering a 24.
  6. Of course there will be failures, that doesn't change the fact it is an excellent transmission. Let me just say, don't stress, you still have a very nice truck regardless of the tranny. The 10spd will be great paired with the 6.6 gas though. I put 50k on my 1st 2020 and almost 90k on my second so far with the 10spd, once you spend time driving it you'll understand how good it is.
  7. I will glady tell you soon, approaching 90k and it drives like the day I picked it up. Hey, if youre happy with the 6spd more power too you, I want the 10spd and I was only responding to your comment that its not battle tested which it is. I think we will all find that it makes the 6.6 gas a much nicer truck to drive and tow with.
  8. The 10spd is battle tested. It has been paired with the Duramax the last 3 model years, has stood up to the torque/HP and has been excellent. The only reason I'm even considering the gas for my next truck is due to the "new" 10 spd. The 6spd was fine the 10spd will be much better.
  9. Here you go.. = Discrepancy in participation. I could be wrong though.
  10. Not really pointless, you can widen the offset with 20x9's, go with a larger tire (say a 295/65/20 with roughly a +12 offset wheel) and have no rubbing stock.
  11. I would verify if his wheels are 20x9 or 20x10. My 20x9 +10's with 295/65/20 needed the front liner pulled back. Very easy to do though, my truck is stock.
  12. My advice is to trade it in on a different truck. I agree with the previous reply's but you seem pretty convinced its not going to make it. Who needs that added stress. Trade it and move on.
  13. Agree, the 10spd will be great and has been great paired to the Duramax. When I read the "I wanna stick with the 6spd" comments I can only imagine how they will look back and think how premature their comments were. The 10spd being paired with the l8t has proven itself paired to the Duramax and will make everyone forget about the 6spd really quick. I have always purchased diesels but the addition of the Allison branded 10spd paired with the gas motor might get me thinking about trying the gas next time around.
  14. The 10spd being used is not the Ford 10spd, it's the same version that has proven itself in the current HD Duramax. I personally would never go back to the 6spd Allison after having the 10spd, its that good IMO. Price increase is worth it in my mind.
  15. The 10 spd will be MUCH better and more reliable. Our gas HD's for my business get worked and the weak spot has been the tranny's. I suppose for the average guy using them as a daily driver and towing on the weekend they are fine but for me, this is great move putting the 10spd with the gas motor. The 6.6 gas motor has been great. It would be interesting to come back after a year of the 10spd paired with the gas and read the comments from those thinking this is a bad move.
  16. I believe the only similarity is they are both 10speeds. Otherwise, completely different.
  17. I've had both, 1st was a 2020 2500 and now have the 3500. If there is a difference, I don't notice it at all.
  18. I know this is an old message but can you post a pic of your truck with these wheels again. I remember seeing it and was thinking I might go this route for the new one I ordered.
  19. Yep. Like I said, had know idea it was taking this long..brutal.
  20. I knew there was a delay, pretty common knowledge, but had no idea it was that far off! Glad I'm not ordering right now.
  21. If you're traveling long distance every weekend and looking for less fill ups, get the Duramax. You described my current situation exactly including the Yamaha Boat less the dogs!
  22. No way is it 8-12 months. He must have meant weeks
  23. Fact, I disagree with most of what you've said.
  24. That is a bummer for sure but unfortunately happens. Hopefully they can remedy quickly. I don't think anyone would be happy with that happening on a new vehicle regardless of the selling price.
  25. I think your tire size choice will look too small with it leveled. IMO
