The factory batteries have a horrible life span. There is a post on her about someone's turn signal not working, I suggested the battery, he swapped it and problems are gone. Another poster had an electrical problem, replaced battery, problem gone. I know when the battery went bad in my 14, I had all kinds of strange issues that went away with a new battery installed.

You are very welcome. I agree, it is weird, but on the positive side, it gives you signs that it is going to fail, rather than just stranding you in the middle of nowhere.

Go to an auto parts/Harbor Freight and pick up some cheap plastic trim tools, it is easier if you have a variety of sizes. Start on one side, there are 3 clips on each side, and 2 in the front, I started from the side because if you start on one of the edges you will probably rip the material on the lid. Get one tool between the top (soft leather like material) and the bottom (hard plastic) and start to pry apart. once you have the first tool pretty far inside, get another one and do the same thing in another spot on the same side, once you have both going you will now just pull it apart. 2 or 3 screws hold the handle in place, and just reverse the steps to put it back together, just be patient when prying the pieces apart and lining them back up when putting back together. Might as well put a chrome handle in while you are at it, I have done this in my last two trucks.

Welcome to the site. If you are still on your original battery, have it checked, or replace it The new generation trucks do all kind of weird things when the battery starts to fail.

Close, black 16, and centennial blue for my 18. Never cared for all of the chrome on the LTZ, you can see them from outer space when the sun hits them just right..... Thought you would have one laying around in the back of your "chop shop".....

They come painted to match everything else. Here is my 18 and the 16 I had.

You will see the wires, and the nut that holds the "fin" to the truck. Would think you will be able to see signs of rust, or any water intrusion at that point.

I think the 18 Z71 nose would look better on your truck with the theme you have going now. More paint, and still some chrome, just not nearly as much as the LTZ grill.

Bonus if you were swapping the tow hooks at that time.....

No idea what you mean, or where you are going with that "quote". When someone likes to throw out statements of "if someone had any common sense", they are usually the one without it, and after reading about you patting yourself on your own butt because of your wealth of knowledge and expertise, what do you really think the chances of me bringing anything to you to work on it are? Even if I lived down the street from your shop. A little humility goes a long way, and speaks volumes about a person, but the beauty of these forums is that we can pretend to be anything we want.

Tow package, rear (back up) camera, and the LED lights mounted under the bed rails from the factory come to mind. But take the picture, that way more might be able to help.

Could you provide a picture of the hole? Makes guessing a lot easier.

At this point, since you are the customer, have them check the battery/fuse, cables, and all ground connections. If you are not happy with what they come up with, let them and GM know! They have seen this problem before, the trucks have been around 6 model years now, should be no mysteries when these problems come up. And welcome to the site, sorry your first posts are on the negative side, they are good trucks when you get the bugs sorted out.

You are very welcome. Now you have me thinking, what else do I have in my tool box. There was another company in that era that had a TB space, looked cool, just made the hard acceleration whistle louder, maybe I should start listing some of this stuff on here to sale. One difference back then was, it was still a throttle cable, not DBW like now, so you did have a little more input in what was happening during acceleration.

I bought a Granatelli Motorsports MAF for my 99 SCSB. Basically what they did is remove the dust screen/filter. If you look inside of your MAF, you will see a set of "sensors" and a screen that looks like a "screen door". What they did is remove the screen so the air flow is "increased" into the throttle body. At that time there was also a product from Tornado Industries, that would create a swirling effect of the air going into the TB. Kind of a cheap/poor mans version of a Supercharger, mostly just sounded cool under WOT, with the whistling effect it caused.

Welcome to the site. What year of truck? Radiator might be covered under warranty. They had thermostat's that were creating too much pressure on the early years resulting in cracks, which became leaks. When I was selling Chevy trucks, my rule of thumb, was if possible, have more truck than you need to tow, takes a lot of the guessing game out of it.

Now I know the color, reminds me of the mid 80's Fiero's, always really liked that blue. Had a friend paint a 68 Camaro in that blue, looked great.
