  1. This has hit the top of my birthday wish list. Thank you, jmiller11331! Do grid lines appear when you get close to an obstacle?
  2. Is this a GM aftermarket option? What is the price point? I appreciate any additional information you can provide! Thanks.
  3. Over Christmas I rented a Nissan Maxima. The electronics were outstanding. One feature in particular that I would like on my truck is the front camera. You push a clearly labeled button on the dash and get a front bumper view on your screen. Has any member installed an aftermarket front bumper view camera? If so, do you have any recommendations/suggestions?
  4. You may want to have this checked out at your dealer. I also owned a 2000 (and a 2009) but I don't believe comfort has declined. Fireblade74 commented on the adjustment. This may be your issue.
  5. Does this fix impact daylight viewing in any negative way?
  6. Your truck looks great! You know that you won't hit another deer now, right? I hit my first deer with my last truck after 40+years of driving. I hit my second deer on the drive home with my new bumper. I installed a Setina push bar and haven't hit anything since!
  7. Sorry, my comment was entirely light-hearted in intent and not intended to take away from the topic at hand. I have low miles and will check my hours but I can imagine they will comparatively high as I spend a lot of time at idle! Others were calculating overall mph averages so I don't believe I was too far off topic.
  8. This is not an a very good indicator of your average speed especially when you are a frequent user of remote start and/or do meal delivery!
  9. A strategy that often works for me when I have lost a tool or part is to move on to the next project/task. The lost item will surface when no longer needed.
  10. I keep truck specific items like this in the truck so such things don't get lost in the abyss of seldom used tools and gadgets in my garage!
  11. Battery for your key fob? Must be a dealer gift.
  12. I am a fan of the Defenders. I find them to be quiet, smooth and have great all weather traction.
  13. I generally try to trade in my vehicles before they hit 100k miles (160k kms). I do this to have reasonable value at trade, not because of impeding mechanical doom. A change is also refreshing and I would not be motivated to trade with-in the same body style unless something catastrophic happened to my current truck or I had a major lottery win!.
  14. Heated mirrors are a nice option and I agree checking with pgamboa. Do you have remote start? If you don't then much of the advantage to heated mirrors is lost. Scraping can be quicker!
  15. I looked for months for various installation and product options. I finally had to rush because I made a deal on a trailer. I went to my dealership and bought the one they recommended and had the technician place it where he/she believed was the best position. I am very pleased with the result. It is under the dash on the right side of the steering wheel. It is very accessible and out of the way. It may look like an add-on but that's what it is!
  16. This feature is normal and found it useful when puling my box trailer in hilly terrain with my '09. These transmissions are solid workers and don't be swayed by the complaints on this forum. I find the GM 6 spd autos very responsive, predictable and smooth. I appreciate the differences in various makes and models of vehicles and sometimes my input has to differ to meet my needs.
  17. BTW The information I gave was directly quoted from your owner's manual. This would serve as a written response from GM if there was a dispute. (Probably will be the same statement they send back to you)
  18. Extreme service- For vehicles mainly driven off-road, in four-wheel drive or used in farming, mining, forestry, Department of Natural Resources (DNR), or snow plowing. -- Unless you fall under these categories, you don't have a warranty concern. You may choose to do unscheduled maintenance for peace of mind but I wouldn't be concerned about a warranty claim if your vehicle is used for "normal" operation.
  19. I like these. Where did you get them and plan to place the finished product?
  20. I think we have different ways to use the term automatic. If you use a definition like "(of a device or process) working by itself with little or no direct human control." then pushing a button to fold or unfold your mirrors is truly automatic. Your transmission is referred to as automatic even though you have to shift it into gear. Maybe "remote" would be a better way to describe folding mirrors with a key fob. I think it would be annoying and unnecessary to have my mirrors fold with the opening and closing of my door. I seldom park in a manner where I would need to fold my mirrors and my manual mirrors fold effortlessly on such occasions.
  21. Your poor truck sure is a proverbial guinea pig! ;-)
  22. I also have the jump seat and you have given me an idea. I have a little light that plugs into a USB port that would be perfect for the rare occasion I think a light would be useful. Maybe you may find a similar solution at computer accessory store.
  23. It is sometimes more expedient to do simple repairs yourself, but if nuts or bolts were falling from my vehicle I'd definitely have it thoroughly checked out by my dealership. Warranties are to protect you from defects in parts and workmanship. Having a service record of minor flaws could help in the future.
  24. Why are you concerned about having this repaired by your dealer? This is definitely a warranty item.
  25. Thanks for the video. This modification doesn't look too intimidating and it would be a great upgrade/refresh for our trucks. I imagine the blue and red dash light combination would be fine and only someone knowledgeable about gm's would notice the inconsistency in the dash light colors.
