  1. Is that the thermostat delete?
  2. Dude I am digging this thread...you're going all out! Kudos to you Daryl! Hope to reach your point of progress and prowess with my Cadillac. More parts swapping than anything, but I'll be getting a few new body panels. I am so happy Wyoming uses scoria and sand for winter traction as opposed to brine. My Cadillac is 22 years old and she has nowhere near the rust that your truck does. Not any rust through anywhere either!
  3. Got my exhaust aligned to where I'm not melting box protectors off anymore, and the hangers are staying put where they should. The rear hanger is further back just a bit, and the post muffler ones are a tad forward, but I think that's because the pipes behind the muffler are a tad too long. I just have a problem cutting a $1000 system up, and it seals nicely for now. I like how the pipes look on exit now too, so I'm leaving it alone. My new wheels should be here Thursday, so I likely will have those installed Friday or Saturday morning, depending on what my schedule looks like. Then no more Plains tire ever again. Feel free to remind me. Got front brake pads en route. The rears have plenty of life left, but they are starting to squeak, and the pedal travel has increased. The rotors look great, so I'll leave them be for now. Got driveline fluids coming too, as part of my maximum overkill maintenance I'll be changing the trans fluid, diff fluids, and transfer case fluids at 70K. Clyde is up to 66,304 miles and runs great as always. Life is good.
  4. Cadillac moves under her own power Just have to get her up here to start getting rid of bad parts, that and get a parts car. Nice to hear her turn over with no issues. Considering buying my dad's DTS, but I can't afford 2 project cars and go back to school. Even if that means one of my doofus siblings tears it up.
  5. One of these days spring will show up. Plains Tire can go to hell. Ordered a set of wheels for Clyde off eBay. They're take offs but they look brand new. Then I'll sell my old set on here, last batch went quite fast. Then I will avoid Plains scratch factory like the plague. Don't think any of the morons there know how to properly service a vehicle without abusing it. I think I have my mind set on what I'm going to do for a bedliner. We'll see.
  6. Looks like you're enjoying Pepper! For lights, if you want to see more, get Silverstar Ultras. If you want to see EVERYTHING, get Osram Nightbreaker Unlimiteds. I've run both. I loved the Silverstar Ultras, but the Nightbreaker Unlimiteds are INSANE. Each time I replaced the bulbs with the next one up the list I needed to re-aim my headlights. Speaking of which, if you're so inclined, there is a detailed procedure in the Factory Service Manual (which I have) for aiming the headlights.
  7. Wow, that's a deal! Nicely done! Got DUMPED on with snow yesterday and through the night. Storm warning was for 5-8 inches, I would bet we exceeded that by a bit. Some of it likely was from impatience, but I had a hard time keeping the SR-As planted early yesterday morning when I came back from Gillette. Was going around a corner 10 under when I launched into a leisurely drift. Nothing the ol' turn into it reflex couldn't handle, but disconcerting nonetheless. Then yesterday when I was out tooling around, had a few slides I did NOT enjoy at first. Slowed down some and that seemed to fix the problem, but these 275 55 20s just do not seem as sure footed as the 265 65 18s. May have some new tires in my future. As sweet as the KO2s and Duratracs look, I'm thinking some Defenders will suit me well.
  8. Got my Cadillac moving again. My frequent oil changes paid off. She still fires off no problem and idles like a champ, even after her extended vacation. Now that she's mobile, need to get her up here so I can start more in depth work.
  9. WOOT WOOT! Congratulations Ryan! Glad to see you got one you wanted, and they even hauled it down for you. Can't wait for cruise in pics, that blue oughta POP when clean
  10. Why did they go to capless? Is the concept of a gas cap just too much for some people to handle? Not like anyone is doing NASCAR splash and gos at the local Sinclair station.
  11. Bummer dude, sorry to hear that. Mind divulging details on the original car? We got time
  12. Whatever could this mean? Are the grip limits that defined on the tires that below 40 is dangerous? I know you've had some fun with your current Camaro when you go out on cold days. If you get a new Camaro does that mean no new truck, or was the reveal all you needed to see? Inquiring minds like to know ;)
  13. In your driveway? OUCH. Did not see that tidbit. Glad it's back to 100%! Going to go do a rinse before it gets cold, at least try to keep most of the yuck off
  14. Up to 53 and change. As for the DI carbon buildup, I wonder if such things as engine braking helps with that. I know on the Northstars, to decarbon the rings you rap em up damn near to redline in 2nd, and then let the engine brake the car. It has the added benefit of being fun as hell. Just a thought. I have no issues with my L86, and my most recent Blackstone report came back glowing.
  15. Yeah dude gotta park in the boonies Eclipsed 53k on my last stretch of days off. Kinda nice when the mileage seems like just a number, Suppose that's what happens when you keep up on maintenance. Nixed the remote locking tail gate, the new harness doesn't match the plug on the junction, and I just do not like the thought of splicing into the wiring. The manual lock works great, so no reason to fix it. It happened in my driveway by an errant baseball throw
  16. May not be a bad idea, see what kind of bugs the first year has and go from there
  17. Emailed Chevy about the possibility of using the OEM remote tailgate lock on Clyde. Parts wise I would only need the actuator and a new backup camera, as the camera includes the harness for both the camera and the actuator. I know Pop 'N Lock has an aftermarket option, but this would be much cleaner. That and my wiring skills need work
  18. Had to tinker with the code, but got it to work. Got me a nice backroad I can take pictures on

  20. Glad such a simple change made such a huge difference on your truck Ryan. The old timers on the Cadillac forums regularly preach against such oiled filters, and for good reason. Nearly all the paper filters flow all the air your engine could ever use. Going to send in my 2nd Blackstone sample this week, my first one came back good. Aluminum was even a touch low. Clyde is otherwise good, 48,300 and counting. Alexandra is as well, just gotta get that damn strut on so I can get her moving
  21. Got the control arm on the Cadillac....and found the strut was wanked. Got a new strut sitting in the unit. Just gotta get it on now
  22. 48,324 on my 2015, and counting. Love to drive, that has been since June of 16, when I got him out of storage.
  23. Hmmm...I checked mine and no holes...but then again the LTZs have wheelhouse liners out back like the front liners. Nice work on the rolling average! You did quite well to boost your numbers!
  24. LOL and ruin all that hard work? Turns out I put the exhaust clamps on in the entirely wrong spot when I initially installed my Borla GM system. Took the entire system out, put it back, tweaking some hangers along the way, ensuring the tips were clear of the box protector (I AM SICK of replacing that damn thing due to my incompetence!), and getting the clamps secured in the proper site. Now the system is MUCH more stable, feels solid like the factory system, and stays put! Initial readings indicate my fuel economy is rebounding as well, so perhaps I identified the source of my mysterious fuel economy deficit since April (which is when I initially installed the system). Caught a big rock in the bumper cap somewhere along the state highways I've been cruising. Popped it off and took it into the dealer to patch and cover the ding the bodyshop missed in late June. We'll get a nice comparison of dealer vs. private bodyshop. Hope to have it back tomorrow, the open road is calling my name!
  25. Nothing most would consider anything special, a 96 DeVille. She's my first car though, had her for 9 years and I love that thing.
