  1. Damn Ryan I need to detail my truck like you do. Got him washed yesterday, had a little off-road adventure that was Z71 worthy. 4HI and the Ranchos did quite nicely. Wash turned out well, but I got water trails from the door handles. Oh well, will likely wash again in a couple weeks, my ideal wash schedule is every other week or every third week, weather permitting. A month back, while looking for a rattle, I scuffed up my right rear door panel a tad, and busted the lower front bolt hole on the front panel. Though I glued the bolt hole, I couldn't live with that or the scratches, so I got new door panels. They look great and it even sounds a tad quieter in the cab! Replaced my box protector for like the 7th time. My Borla exhaust was misaligned just so that the tips contacted the protector and started to melt it. Gave the tips a nice shove during my wash, and that seemed to be the ticket. Alignment is good, and clearance is MUCH better.
  2. Not a bad lookin' Mustang...bet the truck looks a tad better though. Almost got the control arm on my Cadillac. The parts are a comin!
  3. Washed him today, looks tons better, especially with all the mud gone. Checked the alignment of the air dam, did some off roading last night and skimmed a dirt mound rumbling down a dirt trail. scuffed it just a tad, but no worse for the wear. Onward!
  4. Got mah truck back They put in the wrong grille, truck is kind of dirty inside, and the headlights weren't aimed, but they knocked the bodywork out of the park. Fender and the rocker panel both look like new. Very happy with the outcome! Should get my new grille friday, then I will be set.
  5. SO GLAD they don't salt the roads around here. So glad. They use red rock and sand, but that seems not to be so harsh on the undercarriage and paint, just the damn windshield and chrome parts. One thing I have found to work well is frequently and thoroughly hosing off the undercarriage. Whenever I get mudpack at all, I'll pay the carwash a visit and rinse it off to the point that I can't see anything. Even after looking hard with a flashlight. Clyde's in the paint booth, so we are getting closer. Estimate puts completion at Thursday, so we'll see.
  6. Thank you! I love the Deep Ocean Blue. Very sharp. Hahaha it was about 10 minutes before a BNSF Dodge came rolling up. Guy even paused to let me finish! Indeed, you mentioned some variables I didn't even think of. More for you to tinker with Think you can crack 27 mpg for your rolling average?
  7. Nice! Looks like you have a good thing going, especially since you've been able to increase your speed. There isn't anything you can do through the Scan Tool, or a setting you can change, but you can adjust it with your right foot. The OLM will adjust the posted number based on city driving, highway driving, jackrabbit starts, oil temperature, outside temperature, things like that. Perhaps fully adjustable may not be the best adjective, but the OLM will account for and adapt to changing conditions, oftentimes many (if not all) that can be altered by you. Like with Clyde, during the winter I notice the OLM drops when the weather is particularly cold, or when I commute to work more times than not. In the summertime it will increase, as the weather improves, and I go for long drives (where there's less stop and go involved). Speaking of which, here ya go Thought nobody would ever ask
  8. Sweet! I may do that as well...that looks really neat! Sweet....sounds like a plan. Thank you for the tip!
  9. Nicely done! Hood is primed, on, they got it lined up spot on. Rocker is straight, fender is straight, he's just waiting for paint, which should commence today. Poor guy looks forlorn with no front end. Dropped off my new LF headlight, so I'll have a spotless front end when all is said and done. Got a 17 Ram Laramie as a rental. Not sure if it's just me or what, but that thing is pretty Spartan feeling compared to Clyde.
  10. Where did you get that hood emblem? That is awesome! Diggin' the build, you know how to mod a truck! Love the color too, though I may be biased How did you remove the handle from the tailgate handle assembly? The dealer in town painted an assembly for me, but they didn't remove the handle, and it's bugging me. Did you use the same procedure for the aftermarket and the factory handle?
  11. Happy Anniversary GrumpyBear For what it's worth, the Oil Life Monitor uses an algorithm that factors in your driving habits, surrounding climate, and engine parameters such as operating temperature, and what kind of miles (city vs. highway) the engine sees. I believe the OLM debuted in the 1990s (my 96 DeVille has it), and is a universal feature on today's vehicles. I've heard on new vehicles that the OLM even monitors turbidity, factoring in the "dirt content" of the oil, if you will. As the OLM is fully adjustable, I'd say what you are seeing is a reflection of very consistent driving habits across the boeard (Nicely done!) The highest on my Silverado would indicate 8k miles if I recall correctly, on QS Full Syn 0W-20. Usually I seem to fall in the 7000 to 7500 mile range, though I change my oil around 5000 regardless. I'll post my last one here once I get Clyde back from the shop.
  12. I regularly get around 20 on the interstate (80 mph limit in WY), 22-23 on the state highways (70 here in WY), and my maximum is 26.2 at 55 mph. That was on a state highway when I was stretching the bit of gas I had left in my tank. Granted I use 91 octane, nearly all of that being E0 DinoCare gas, though I get decent mileage with E10 from Loaf 'N Jug. Still, not bad for a 6.2L V8
  13. Yeeeeaaaaaahhhh you should listen to your mechanic. I'll take the two to the far left for $400 It was funny, when the power steering went out in my Cadillac, everybody told me my tires were under inflated. What they didn't know is that I'd dive bomb turns to aid with steering. Once I got the hang of no power steering, and replaced my front tires, they looked waaaay better. Rode by the body shop last night and Clyde was parked in the service garage, as opposed to their storage garage out back. SOOOOOON.
  14. Seems to be hit or miss, one of the Goodyears on my Cadillac had a runout, the rest have been ok. The Wrangler SR-As on my Chevrolet have been great. The Michelins I've run on my Cadillac, as well as the ones on Dad's assorted Cadillacs, have also been great. It's been a week and a half, but I wounded Clyde. Got heavy eyelids on the way back from Gillette and hit a couple metal fence posts. Got things squared away with the rancher, so that's all good. Got Clyde in for work Monday morning. USAA cut the check yesterday afternoon, and they want 8 days for repairs. Hopefully they don't take that damn long. Got off fairly lucky in the damage department, though there will be some involved parts swapping. Wish I could be the one swapping the parts, but if I want insurance to pay for it, guess I gotta play by their rules. I will be getting a new windshield afterward, so it will be like a second chance at a clean front end, so that's a plus. I did get him all cleaned up the end of last month, so I was finally able to get pictures with all my goodies on. So happy with how things turned out.
  15. Glad to see someone else using Quaker State UD. I've always had great luck with QS, but it's nice to see others who have had similar fortune. I like how people rag on the Wrangler SR-As that came factory on Clyde. They grip great, even in ice and snow, and are wearing very well. Then again I don't drive right and don't know what I'm talking about.
  16. Nothing lately, getting lots of practice on my Dad's 06 DTS. He is the world's most impatient car customer.

  20. Finally got my LT Z71 Grille on, my LT 20' wheels, and my exhaust. Turns out my truck didn't look as good as I thought. It looks 12 million times better. The weather has been uncharacteristically spring like around here, so I haven't had the chance to wash him yet, but once I do I'll bombard you guys with glamor shots. So happy with how everything turned out. Usually when you have an idea of how something will look, the actual product is about what you'd expect. This turned out so much better it's crazy. The exhaust sounds SO GOOD...now Clyde sounds like a truck, not a Spark. Cold start before: Cold start after:
  21. Got the ball joint out of my Cadillac. Got carried away with my JB Weld reinforcing, so had to trim that down. Now I just have to repaint. Chevy has a history of low key special edition cars. My brother recently got his first car, a 97 V6 Camaro. Here recently I was riding with him and we noticed a 30 stamped into the headrest. No other indicators.
  22. It will be interesting to see how the 10 speed stacks up. Got my tailgate handle on, my skid plates on, and a new air dam on. They all look great, especially the tailgate handle. Now only if the weather would warm up, so I can wash my truck and take pictures! I finally got the wheels I wanted, just waiting for the Laramie GM dealer to get back to me. All I have left is exhaust and a bedliner. Time to talk to Line X
  23. LOL glad you got it fixed. Got the control arm off my Cadillac, just need a hammer to finish up with the ball joint in the knuckle
  24. That Benz would be far cooler if it wasn't a replica. That Corvette is NUTS The Silverado. is a beast in this winter weather...really enjoying 4 HI and AUTO on my 4x4 system. Weather should warm up next week, maybe then I can put parts on. Got a color matched tailgate handle, a new air dam (slightly cracked mine under the license plate, can't have that), a new Z71 Grille, skid plates, and Silverstar Ultra headlights...kinda excited for those. He's gonna look SHARP! Heading out to Chris's neck of the woods in a week and a half for my most anticipated mod. CANNOT WAIT
  25. He's getting anxious Primed my control arm for my Cadillac. Got it mostly painted, just have some touch up spraying to do. I love the look of freshly primed and freshly painted parts. So clean. So neat. So promising.
