  1. You won’t see rear gear options from GM. GM seems to think 1 size fits all, it’s been this way for quite some time. To be fair, most people don’t know the difference. Be nice to see some kind of upgrade for 2022. I’m not sure when I’m going to be ready to pull the trigger, but diesel will force me into the used market.
  2. Probably just need to go a bit faster to get rpms up. I know with my 14, 1500, 6.2, 6 speed w/ 3.42 gears seems to be better off at 70mph. My TT weighs around 5,500lbs and I have no issues with towing it. I’m am seriously looking at the 6.6 gasser, but not if it’s a downgrade.
  3. I have to say, this is very disappointing. It almost seems like they want to force me into a Diesel. Ram 6.4 didn’t fair much better in the IKE and it has an 8 speed. Ford Godzilla is really the only option for gas.
  4. I reused my gaskets on the rear and transmission. Filled diffs and transfer case till it ran out. Dex6 in transfer case. 75w-90 in diffs.
  5. How much over payload are you? It seems from a legal standpoint you get 5% leeway. So in the case of my truck I can be like 300lbs over GVWR and still be legal. I’m only 80lbs over, so I’m going to try to make it work until 2022. It’s getting harder to wait though. Putting bikes and kayaks in the camper instead of the truck is going to get old really fast. I want a HD truck with 8 foot bed, fiberglass cap, and roof rack for the yaks.
  6. You want a good, properly adjusted weight distribution hitch. I prefer the ones with built in sway control such as fastway or equalizer. I have an e2 and it’s really awesome. If you’ve still got issues after that, than Roadmaster Active Suspension is the next step. I’d also upgrade to LT tires, but try airing the ones you have up to max before spending money on new.
  7. I’m looking at a gas hd for my towing needs as well. Essentially in the same boat as you. If you go diesel, you want a 3500 or you’ll run into the same issue you have now. I’m trying to stick with gas just because of price.
  8. I really think that’s too much trailer for your truck. I’m much shorter at 26 feet and I’m betting I’m over on payload. I’ll find out for sure when I hit the scales this week. Advertised hitch weight on mine is like 520 lbs, but who knows what it really is.
  9. It’s been a while since I had my Sierra in deep water, but everything on these trucks seems sealed up well. I’ve changed all my fluids since and have no evidence of water. Many miles since and no issues. Good to see others enjoying the outdoors and adventure!
  10. Nice write up! Is the procedure essentially the same for a six speed?
  11. I have the winter rated KO2’s. I have been pretty aggressive with rotations, and mine have 40k miles on them. I may replace before next winter, but they got me through the first snow storms of this winter without any excitement. Mine like 48-50 as well. Any lower and the fronts wear on the outside. Mine are Lt275-55-20 D rating on 14 Sierra.
  12. I’m very interested in these motors, but the 6 speed in the GM trucks in really forcing me away. Direct Injection is not helping me to stay with GM either. I don’t know why it bothers me given that both of my current vehicles are DI. I’ve just read so many bad things that it causes me to hesitate a little, especially since I plan to order my next truck, exactly how I want it, and keep long term.
  13. I’m looking into floor plans exlike this. I also like the 230bhxl with the slide. My truck is a 14 CC St Bed 6.2 with around 1500lbs payload. I wish I had the max tow package, but I do have an extra leaf spring in the rear. My truck goes my 5k lbs dump trailer fine, but that’s usually just me in it and nothing else. I’ll be traveling with my wife, daughter, and 2 dogs. Have you ever had it on scales to know what your hitch weight is loaded? I’m concerned about running out of payload. Can you fold up the Murphy bed without taking all the fixings off? I’d like to be able to fold it up easy if it’s raining and we’re stuck inside. Any reasons you went with Forest River vs other brands? I’m going to an event show this weekend to check some things out. I can’t buy until later this year when my car is paid off. I’m really looking forward to getting out camping! I don’t want to upgrade truck for a few more years, so I want a trailer that this truck will handle comfortably for many miles.
  14. White certainly would not be my first choice because of the work truck thing. Mine is an SLT with a good bit of chrome, so probably doesn’t look too much like one. Then again, I use it as one, so if the shoe fits... It hides dirt and paint defects extremely well and looks really good with just a pressure washer. I put a lot less effort into keeping it clean compared to my crystal red Camaro. It’s a good bit bigger so I’m thankful for that. My next truck will not be white non the less.
  15. That looks really good! I have a Ranch cap as well and I’m very happy with it.
  16. I thought the tourque stretched the threads. On my old truck I used new ones, but this truck isn’t that old. I’m not too worried about reusing oem.
  17. I’m pretty certain my AAL instructions said 90ft/lbs. I reused the oem bolts because I figured with the AAL I’d be tightening the nut on different threads.
  18. It’s amazing the things this saw will do. I’ve had mine a good while and haven’t found a job too big. Something still has me wanting to try the new 572xp though, maybe trade this one in on her.
  19. What model saw is that? I have a 562xp and am a big husky fan! looks like a good bit of weight for a single axle trailer. I really need to find myself a good wood hauling trailer.
  20. If you’re looking for a cheaper option, look at Ranch brand caps. I have a Ranch Sierra on my truck and I only paid $1250 for it. Has sliding windows on sides and against the truck. They have a cheaper one with no sliding windows, but I wanted to let my dogs have some air. Build quality is very good, mine has no issues. Thinking of adding Truck bed coating on the roof.
  21. Out enjoying the snow. Not sure why it’s sideways...
  22. here’s my truck with my new cap. Need to wash the truck, but hard to keep it clean this time of year.
  23. Those look good and I like that manufacturers are seeing the how important the severe weather rating is to buyers. That being said, my experience with pirelli resembles the above blazer review. I can safely say I’ll never own pirelli tires again...
  24. I suspect one of mine is on its way out. Just under 60k miles. Good to hear it’s not an expensive part, and I’ve done them before on different vehicles. It’s probably not hard. Do any of you guys know the tourque spec for the axle nut on these trucks? What made you suspicious of yours? My truck sounds funny on the highway when turning slightly to the left...
  25. I want to keep the column shifter. I could deal with a floor shifter but I think a knob or buttons would irritate me. My buddy has a ram with that goofy knob and hates it.
