  1. You're in CA, so you should give them a call and see what they can do for you...you probably won't have to wait as long since they're located in CA as well. I had to wait until they did a tune here in TX, but once the initial was done, all other tunes are done via email....nice!
  2. Well I have been running it like this for over a year with no issues, so I'm not convinced of the need of a sensor since the ECU has been tuned.
  3. That's the beauty of having a BBP tune with AutoCal. You can have tunes made for any mods you make to your truck. I.e. if I add headers, I can get a tune for that and if later I decided I want to install a cam, I can get a tune for that. I'm sure there are other handheld tuners that can be used, but I prefer BBP as they have great customer service and I think are more flexible with what they can do for me as far as tuning goes.
  4. LOL! No, just a tune from BBP...that's the only thing I did.
  5. Yes and no. Non-Flex Fuel truck, and all I've done is have a tune made for me by BBP to run a 50/50 mixture. I'm thinking of getting larger injectors, but not sure if I'll see an improvement that will justify the $$$ for larger injectors.
  6. I know this thread is 2yrs old, but I was searching E85 conversions to see what others have done. I was just thinking of changing my fuel injectors to 750's and have BBP send me a tune for it, and was looking to see if anyone else has done this. I guess as of 2yrs ago, no one has...LOL! I currently run a 50/50 E85/93oct and have no issues other than a quicker response and pick up. I have been running this mixture for over a year now and had it tuned with BBP to run the 50/50 mixture, I haven't done anything else as far as fuel management goes. Same fuel lines/pump and no sensor. My truck is a '16 RCSB and is NOT a factory Flex Fuel truck, so it's not like it can't be done, but a tune is a definite at minimum like what I did in order to make it work. I hope this helps...
  7. I broke both tabs you have in the first pic, I used a 2 mixture epoxy to mend it back together. Your second pic I do not recognize the part, but I assume you could use epoxy or try that Flex Glue...the commercial on Flex Glue looks good, I may need to pick up a tube and break something to try it out...LOL! I used the epoxy on our coffee maker' cradle, which holds the coffee filter basket. So far it's been holding up even with the heat...it's been about 4 months now.
  8. Update: The weather is great right now...cloudy, but no rain and not too hot. So I decided to attack the rattling sound behind the drivers seat, which seems to be the rear speaker. Here are the steps I took for anyone having to do the same. Adjust driver's seat all the way forward and tilt all the way forward. Remove positive battery cable (you will be working around an airbag) for safety reasons. Pop out the Airbag tab by the top seat belt anchor. You don't have to pull it off, it is anchored, but not very solid. However, easy to replace should you pull it off entirely. Using a flashlight, locate the small 7mm screw on the pillar (should be a straight shot from the airbag tap hole) and remove the screw. If you don't have a magnetized socket, you might want to place a small piece of reversed rolled up duct tape into the socket to secure the screw once it is removed...or you can hunt for it at the bottom when it falls. I used a piece of blue soft adhesive. (this is what you would use to hold up the plastic sheeting behind your door panel after repairing a window actuator, speaker etc.) Lift up the car seat anchor (it just pulls up and off) pull back the panel under the rear windshield...gently, then pull back the panel on the pillar, you may need to work the seat belt height adjustment lever a little...not very difficult you will see as the panel is moved back. Once the panel is pulled back from the pillar you will see the speaker, and at this point you can either R/R the speaker or just remove altogether. If you need more working space, then you'll need to do as Marv mentioned, and remove the paneling along the rocker as well...just be gentle. Replace everything in reverse, reconnect the battery and drive your truck to calibrate the compass if you have one. Well I hope this helps anyone that may need to access the rear speaker or seat belt height adjuster. This took me around 30 minutes to complete....and while you're replacing your battery cable, check your oil if you haven't in a while. Aloha, Woody
  9. I don't mind the rear speakers as long as it's not over-bearing. As for the weather (rain) I think it just waits for me to wash my truck...and as you guys know washing a truck is not the same as washing a car. Rain and birds love my truck!
  10. LOL! I just may take up Nasty's advice being that I don't hear it now. Just need to fix that rattling it's so annoying!
  11. Thanks Marv for the info...Looks like a lot of popping! I'll give it shot this weekend if the weather holds up, which I doubt.
  12. I was just checking out your instagram pics...that turkey pic is funny! I remember when you first posted that pic! Did you level your truck or raise it? Looks Great! I'm thinking...thinking of doing what 4x4 enthusiast would consider blasphemy...lowering the Z71! If not, I'll need to get a sports car to scratch the itch of hitting the apex of the turn...but the truck would be cool I think!
  13. Hi Marv, so does that back panel just pop off? Also, any suggestions on a good replacement speaker as I think the previous owner installed low quality speakers...I knew I should have had the dealer replace all those speakers before purchasing the truck...oh well.
  14. Marv since you're in the audio section of your truck, have you taken out your rear speakers just above your seat, next to the seat belt anchor? I think my speaker has come loose, I believe the previous owner didn't do a good install. I had the same rattling sound from my front door, and the dealer told me the previous own replaced the OEM speakers...so no warranty...bummer! I'm wondering what kind of speaker is in there, I can't even hear it, other than the rattle...LOL!! Do you know if that rear panel just pulls out or are there some tricks to it? I also see the Airbag sign there, so I'm sure caution is a must...unplug battery etc. Any help/suggestion is appreciated? Thank you!
  15. I agree with No Tyme, and they (dealer) would have to prove that the tune is responsible for whatever issue you are having. I just took my truck in for some noise coming from my driver side door (speaker) and they did an update to my truck, not sure what it was...I need to check that out. Anyway, I talked with BBP and they recommended that I put my truck back to stock tune before taking it in. Then do a read (download) of the stock tune to see what the dealer has updated, and send to BBP. This way BBP can check it out to see if they need to adjust my original tune or not...oh and this is at no additional cost. I just sent them back my tune on Monday, and am now on a waiting list...they are busy!
  16. Looks Great Marv! I like the console swap...does it have a locking compartment like the jump seat had on the bottom? I use that locking compartment often when I need to hide some items. I just did the GDO on the roof console, which I like very much...no more remote taking up space in the cab. Oh forgot to mention the bedrug liner is great too! I made some wooden stoppers (corner square pieces) with velcro on the bottom to stick to the rug and hold items in place. Works great and easy to use. When not in use just stick to the side of the bed out of the way. Good Job on the Build!
  17. All right, you just elaborated on "Extremely Pricey"...you apparently do not want to spend $500 to do what you want to do. With that in mind, you may need to go with a hand held type of tuner, unless BBP can help you without the AutoCal, which I don't think they can. I also asked BBP to tune my truck to run on E85 at a 30/70% which made the truck more responsive and added HP. It was done at no charge, and I did this 3 months after the original tune. They also did another tune for my tranny because I wanted it a little more aggressive..(read stall) and that as well was at no charge. So the $500 goes a long way especially when you start to add things to your truck. Eventually I may decide to install some headers and have a tune done for that at no charge...I think I've elaborated enough on what BBP can do for $500. I believe you'll get more bang for your buck with the $500 tune than you will with the installed exhaust system....just saying, but it's your $$$ and decision of what you want to spend to deleted the AFM, add more HP and improved tranny shift points. Check out Diablo and some of those other hand held tuners, which are good in they're own right and see what they can do for you...I'm sure they cost less than $500.
  18. You might want to elaborate on "extremely pricey". I for one, do not think that BBP is pricey since you have a tune anytime you upgrade (headers, cam, CAI etc) by informing BBP what the upgrade is. They will then send you a tune to take the most advantage of your upgrade. At approx. $500 or so, it is well worth it...well, at least it was for me. My true dual exhaust was $1,300 and that was a one time upgrade where it will only be useful for my exhaust. However, with a BBP tune you can use it for as long as you own the truck. Now I'm sure there may be less costly tunes, but I do not know what they do or how they work...maybe someone that has another tune can chime in for you, but it would be best to start with elaborating "extremely pricely".
  19. Not sure, but by the looks of it probably to pull yourself up and into the truck or for rough rides as a place to help secure yourself.
  20. LOL! My wife likes to hang on to that handle even when driving on a smooth road...kind of relaxing her hand. I told her that looks NUTS! However, I love the A pillar assist handle on the driver's side...that was a great mod Marv! BTW - Your truck is looking Awesome!
  21. He should be able to give your tranny a stall on up shifting, you just need to let him know at what rpm you want the tranny to shift. I asked him the same question and on light throttle it holds the shift...light throttle meaning under 15mph. However, it doesn't up shift like it did from the dealer. It also will downshift quickly when I stomp on it, no hesitation and then it will hold the shift until about 5500 rpm while stomping on it. The best advice I can give anyone is to send BBP an email asking what you want and explain it as best as you can. He'll get back to you when he can...which may be about a week or so considering all the emails he gets. Jarrad may also answer your questions, so don't be surprised if you get an email from him. Both of them are very helpful and patient and will help you with what you want, you just need to give them time to get to your email...so ask all that you want in your first email is best. I found making my email easier to read with questions may help them also (i.e. using bullet points to your questions) as they can get to your point quicker as oppose to a long email like this post I'm doing now...LOL! Here's an example for this post: Ask all your questions in one email Be as clear as possible to what you want BBP should be able to tune your trans to stall (give them detail as to what rpm) Don't expect a quick reply, wait at least a week They are there to help you You may get responses from Jarrad and/or Justin Happy tuning!
  22. Yes, he did the tune for 30% E85 and 70% 93oct. I don't know what the details of the tune is since the E85 doses fluctuate as you mentioned. However, he did tell me I could go as high as 50% E85 since the tune was done in a "range" and not specific to 30% only. He originally tuned the truck to run on 93, so that hasn't changed...he basically tuned the truck to get the best of the fuel mixtures. I must say, the truck is not the same as it was when I drove it off the lot, it is much more responsive and torque/HP feels much better. I didn't do a dyno, so I can't say how much more trq/hp there is, but the seat of my pants says there is an improvement. I'm not sure how this tune would be with a 2x4 and traction on wet roads. I need to drive in auto 4x4 when it rains or I'll loose traction too easily...I was even thinking of getting some traction bars, but the auto mode seems to take care of the loose rear tires.
  23. He tuned my truck to run on 30% E85 and 70% 93 oct. As you know the truck comes from the dealer tuned to run on 87oct, I at first had him tune my truck for 93, but have since asked him to tune it for E85 at 30%. I know there's a lot of info saying E85 will ruin your fuel lines and other components however, every vehicle that fills at a gas station is already running at least E10, some are at E15. So my thinking is my fuel lines must be able to handle ethanol even if it's at a higher point. I'll run a full tank of 93 every now and then, but running with E85 is so much better power wise...only problem is the right foot gets too excited at times! As for the idle, Justin did try to smooth it out, but it didn't happen and he said sometimes it smooths out and other times it doesn't. With that said my truck has never stalled due to the rough idle, and it hasn't changed any with the 30% use of E85.
  24. I remember what he did, just not how he did what he did. He basically did what I asked for...remove the AFM, quicker throttle response, crisper shifts & 93 oct. I really like the what the trans shifts in trailer mode and with the engine brake off however, Justin mentioned this is on a different computer and he could not change anything there. I hope that helps.
  25. Similar thing happened with me. While Justin was doing the tune in my truck, he asked me if there was anything I wanted and if the tune felt all right. At the time I thought it was all good however, after driving it for a week or so, I wanted the tune to be more aggressive. So he sent me another TCM tune for the trans with a little more stall...later shifts. It was much better, but I think I still want it to me a little more aggressive, but I haven't sent him another email yet. I also sent him an email to tune for E85 at 30%, now that made a big difference and I like it very much! He also removed my AFM at the original tune since I did not care for it, and my gas mileage hasn't decreased any without it. Justin is busy and as mentioned he does have a lot of emails to cover, but he will eventually get to your email and request....give it a week or so. I need to do a download of my current tune and send it to him before I request for any more aggressive tuning. If you're wondering how to word what you want, just say it as it is and he'll ask if he doesn't understand...more aggressive shifts, more torque, later shifts etc.
