Bingo! Now it looks like it should be, this way and you're not trying to hard to match areas of your truck...great idea of the combo here, and a good way to keep peace with the wife! Hehehe...the Mod Gods are upon you! I used a long slender screw driver to pick off the clip, strange how the new piece didn't have the same mounting area for the clip to go back on, but it works for me.

What oil are you using.
RDKILL replied to MonkeyMouth's topic in Maintenance, Oils/Fluids, Detailing & Rust Prevention
I used it before, but found that Coconut Oil has a better viscosity only because it is NOT infused with garlic...however, I'm hearing great things about Avocado oil as well as Grape seed oil...may try one of these next! -
You know I thought I would like the color key look of your mirrors and door handles...however, I'm liking the black much more only because it matches the forward mud flaps and mud guards on the bed too. As well as the bottom trim of your window and your bed rail cover...go Black is my vote! On another note, I snapped in the driver side A pillar assist handle...was not difficult at all, took me about a good 10min. Glad I saw your post on this, now my interior looks balanced!

Looking Great there Marv! You might want to spray that tail pipe with some high heat black paint until you get your Awesome exhaust down the road, which I'm sure will happen.

Using Amsoil 0W-20 with Ea 017 filter...planning on changing in 25k miles or 1yr. which ever comes first, but this depends on my results from Black Stone on the same oil in my Prius. The Prius currently has 16k miles since the last change. -
Ahhh...I like the color keyed handles and emblems myself, and thought your blue was looking great! However, I can understand the black out look as well...just think that would look better on a black, gray, gun metal etc. color. BTW, I still haven't installed my driver side assist handle...hopefully there will be time this weekend...that honey do list seems to increase and not decrease not matter what I do!

Thank you for sharing your research, I feel much better about going in there now. And I got my handle today, and was looking over what I guess they call instruction...just not sure what the instructions were for! A lot of black and white pics with numbers, but no too much detail with words. Oh well, you and Enough has been a great help, and I'll go with what you two have mentioned.

I have a warning sign on my steering wheel just under the icon of the horn, and on the passenger side dash just above the top of the glove box right side, as well as on the overhead console. My ignition will definitely be off...LOL!

Thank you Enough for your input as well. Looking forward to doing this now just to see what you and Marv88 are talking about...just hope the airbag doesn't go off...then again I'll disconnect the batt. So do you have an Airbag insignia on the A pillar somewhere showing there's an airbag?

Thanks for the pics, at least I now have an idea of what's behind the cover. I checked my Owner's Manual, and there doesn't seem to be an airbag in the A pillar or above my head, as the Crew Cabs/Dbl Cabs have. Hopefully I'll get to do this diy on Saturday if all goes well.

Thank you for the heads up! Is there an airbag in the A pillar? Do you have a pic of the clip and it's location? I thought this would be a slow prying off, but from what you're saying looks like it might be a small challenge here...looking for a piece of sheet metal now.

Oh yeah...I hear you here, no gambling on a non-E85 without a tune. I'm just waiting on Black Bear Performance to get back to me on a few questions I asked them before going with a tune. I know they will do it, as Justin said he could, but I wanted to know more about my current tune. I just thought your truck was NOT a Flex Fuel since you mentioned you went with BBP for a tune. Thanks for the info!
-
I'd like to add that handle assist, did you get that part from the dealer or online somewhere? I'll need to look into that power tailgate opener as well some day. Your truck is looking great!

So is your truck Flex Fuel? I'm entertaining the idea of running E85 however, my truck is NOT Flex Fuel, but Justin mentioned he could do a tune for it. I've asked him some other questions before I decide to go that route...like would it be tuned for 100% E85 or would I be able to mix with 93? Still waiting for a reply. Keep us posted on your E85 tune!
-
Just wondering...what happens when you take your foot off the pedal? (no pressure) Does the trans downshift, stay in the same gear or downshift as the truck slows down on it's own?
-
Almost sounds like driving in trailer mode with my truck. I prefer the trans to hold the shift over up shifting to a higher or highest gear when not needed. Is your truck a Flex Fuel truck?
-
I went back and forth with emails as well however, I didn't expect a quick turn around knowing they would have a bunch of other emails to answer. I usually got a response the next day, at times maybe 2 days, but since my truck was operational it was no biggie for me...knowing that sooner or later things would get worked out. Now if Jarrad had some bad attitude when he helped me that would be another thing, but instead he showed patience (Professionalism) in his emails...not sure if he was pulling his hair on the other side, but it was all good for me. Love that tune!
-
Same here...it took maybe 2 days and my new tune was in my email, but it took my brain about 2 weeks to catch on to how to do things. As I mentioned Jarrad was very good with his response and customer service considering he had to deal with a newbie here. I even looked at the instructions and still had problems for some reason...however, now it seems to be easy and straight forward.
-
I totally agree with you! Unfortunately for me and Jarrad, I had no idea on how to download a tune and upload it into my truck. However, being that Jarrad has Great customer service...(aka patience) he helped me through it with several emails going back and forth. I finally was able to get my brain around what I needed to do and Walla! The Beast within woke up! Don't get me wrong, when Justin first tuned my truck it was great, but I wanted a better response and later shift points, so he sent me a new file and once that was loaded into my truck all is as it should be/expected. I thought I wanted to have it more aggressive, but I think it is just right the way it is now...I need to watch how I accelerate when the roads are wet...even just a little wet the rear tires will slip. I'm also running on 91/93 Oct. my mpg is averaging around 17.5 city and 24.7 hwy...then again I wasn't looking for a gas saver. Check out BlackBear Performance if you need to wake up your truck, the versatility of the tune with Jarrad & Justin at the helm makes the mod worth it...Best mod on my truck so far, and NOT the most expensive one either! Merry Modding & Happy Tuning!
-
Just giving credit where credit is due! Oh I'm enjoying it very much...everyday it seems to get better! The throttle response is much more responsive today then it was on the first day...BlackBear Tuning should move to TX, it would be a good strategic business plan to reach more customers with a shorter travel distance = less cost...hehehe!

Well I just got my tune massage done by Justin @ BlackBear, and what a difference it made! First off he took his time to explain everything about the AutoCal, which most I already forgot, but he does give you a link to instructions and in my experience he or Jarrad always responded to my emails in a very reasonable time What is cool about doing it this way is, he will sit in the passenger seat with his laptop as you drive and will make adjustments as needed. If he makes it too aggressive for you he can change it instantly, if not aggressive enough he can change that too. It was amazing to feel the differences as he made adjustments...first he dumped the AFM, so no more Black Helicopter sounds, then he worked on the transmission upshift/downshifts, and next was the throttle response. The shifts are now crisp and throttle response is immediate, and if for whatever reason I need to change something I just need to let him know and he'll send a link for me to download on the AutoCal. My 0 - 60 time according to my info on the dash (DIC) I gained 1.5 seconds....BANG for the BUCK! He also made adjustments for my CAI, and programed my truck for 89/93 OCT. This is well worth the $$$ and if I was going to do it all over again I would do this tune first, and then the true dual exhaust and CAI. This was much cheaper than the exhaust and CAI, and I got more performance upgrade from the tune. Considering the bang for the buck on true performance, this should be a must do on anyone's list of Mods...you won't regret it, and at worse you'll look weird driving with a big smile on your face. Caveat: This could cause lower mpg & excessive rear tire wear due to the direct relation of the right foot and sense of feeling and hearing...then again if you can control the right foot and not let your feelings and hearing affect you, you should get a little higher mpg & normal tire wear.
-
Well tomorrow is the 12th, and I'm looking forward to the tune massage! Excited to feel how much difference this tune will be in comparison to driving in trailer mode. At minimum I hope the helicopter (AFM) will die in my truck, it is so annoying! Updates to follow.

I have used Amsoil in my motor, diff and tranny on my old '90 BMW 318is when I use to race it, and it held up just fine. I had a 4:10:1 diff, so the gearing was always on demand, which demanded quality lubricant. Soon I'll be transfusing my 2016 Silverado with Amsoil where I can. With that said, there are other good lubricants (Redline in one) out there as well, I just prefer Amsoil, since most of the engine builders (Porsche) I know, and dragster builders all used Amsoil after the break in.

Not a handheld, but Black Bear Tuning should be able to help you. I can't give a review just yet, but they will be in Austin come Nov. 12, and I plan of having my truck done...hopefully enough people sign up. IF I get it done, I'll be sure to give a review on my 2016 Z71 RCSB w/5.3.
