  1. when you are moving a constant speed on a freeway, the air resistance is your biggest factor in MPG, not the weight. I have not towed a TT, but I did have a 6'-6" tall enclosed toy trailer. My truck would barely notice it driving around town, but once you get over 60 mph it felt like I was pulling a 12 bottom plow. And that one oven had the slightly V shaped front. If I was ever going to buy a TT, I would make damn sure the front of it was curved to be as aerodynamic as possible. A brick is not aerodynamic, and pulling one is the easiest way to kill your MPG even when empty.
  2. It's totally her fault for veering into another lane. She was trying to avoid rear-ending the car in front of her, which she would have done if she didn't turn. Her actions caused the accident. You were just driving with a clear lane in front of you. I don't even see how anyone could say you had any fault.
  3. I have the app on a sumsung J3 (cheap POS phone) and have never had an error on this phone or my older one I had before. I don't think the app is the problem. Are you using it from a wifi connection? from a cellular connection? do you have a good signal when you are trying to use it? Try having your wife/gf/roommate/mom/kid put the app on their phone and try it out.
  4. yeah, get your insurance co on the phone. this is why you pay them. Let them chase down the girl's insurance carrier. If you are not at fault, it should not affect your rates. Edit: I missed your video. That's awesome how it took almost 4 seconds after the car in front of her lit up the brake lights for her to react. If you take this video to the police, she should get a ticket for inattentive driving.
  5. Your truck will pull the load. Now the question is, how comfortable will you be driving it? Are you planning to go cross country every year? or just pull it to the lakeshore on Memorial day and the 4th of July? I think you could handle shorter trips with it on local roads, but trying to run up and down mountains, at interstate speeds would be pushing the limits too much. Remember, with a box that big, the wind causes you as much concern as the sheer weight. A heavier truck is designed to control a large trailer better than our 1500's.
  6. Stock outlet is only 1.25 amps. That's not enough to run anything with a motor larger than an air mattress pump. I have successfully ran my coleman air pump though. If you need serious amperage for a mobile coffee maker, you should probably just install your own inverter rated for the proper amperage. And run properly sized cables directly from the battery. I'm guessing the wires going to the built-in outlet are not sized accordingly. You would want something like 8 ga or bigger for 25 amps on DC, according to a chart I found on google.
  7. Don't quote me on this, but from what I remember about the last generation- only 1 plant in Mexico produces the crew cabs, and 1 plant in Michigan builds the double cabs. It takes a couple weeks from the time a truck rolls off the line until it is sitting on a dealer lot. There are something like 3,000 GM dealerships. A lot of them still have 2018's on the lot they are trying to clear out. So give it a little time, you should see more 2019's arriving every week. I get why they don't want a bunch of funky colors on the lot, if they sell 10 black and 10 white ones for every green, which would you want on your lot?
  8. How many of the trucks that roll of the line each day are going to dealers' lots, vs how many are for pre-ordered builds? I really don't know. Maybe not many have reached dealer lots because they are just filling customer orders right now?
  9. Red wire is hot, Black wire is ground. I tied into the wires going to the connector in the junction box behind the bumper. It is the far right connector in this photo. I have more photos in my gallery.
  10. Well, I started this thread over 2 years ago. I finally made my decision and installed my lights. I used the KC Cyclone lights because they have wires exiting the side and they are easier to mount with a single bolt through the plastic bumper step. I'm very happy with the amount of light they provide. Its a huge improvement over the regular reverse lights. I wired into the cargo light circuit so I can control them with the switch in the cab. Here are the before and after photos of the amount of light thrown against the garage door: Here is what the light looks like up close:
  11. Installation is complete. I have added photos to my gallery. These lights are pretty bright, but not ridiculous. I would estimate that I now have 4x the amount of light compared to the LED bulbs I had in the reverse housings. I'm pretty happy with the install, the wires are all secured inside the bumper area with nothing really exposed to possible damage.
