  1. There was more to be done to eliminate the vibration and you could have gone with a T1 so your friends won't think you've gone broke because of the Dodge! I have never allowed a warranty to hold me hostage, if something needs doing, it gets done. One of the next steps on those 8-speeds after changing the fluid and updating the tune is to replace the torque converter and then the whole transmission. Live and learn.
  2. Replacing the VLOM is SOP with an AFM repair.
  3. Never happen with her lead foot! But maybe there's hope yet! She's been driving my truck and her weekly run is 476 miles. She's actually slowed down to try and stretch the tank, trying to complete the week before refueling! LOL Then she has her eyes on a 6.2 Denali...
  4. Thank you Marty, I was wondering if the little 4 would be economical or not, compared with the other offerings. My wife and yours must've gone to the same driving school!
  5. Sure! Didn't know there was a thread for it. Thanks!
  6. We need a newer vehicle to replace our Montana and the Terrain is up for consideration but know nothing about its quality and durability. What year is yours and what can you tell us about it Marty? TIA.
  7. My Gen IV motor burns about 1.3 GPH idling and 1.7 GPH idling right after a cold start. She burns about 2 GPH while driving, this is the average after almost two years of record keeping.
  8. How much air can you get at that little bump in the road near the trees Marty? LOL Such a view makes for a nice drive in God's creation.
  9. About this time last year my children and I crossed a stream in a swamp in the Yukon XL. We stopped and had a look, kids said they saw their rocks hit the bottom and that it wasn't deep. We entered the water and about a truck length in the nose dives under water with water splashing the windshield. I panic, threw it into park instead of reverse! Panicked again and threw it into drive instead of reverse and gunned it and instantly felt a sinking feeling and my wallet being emptied of hundred dollar bills for the mess I was creating. But no, her tires dug into the muck and the truck powered through the trough and up a steep bank without a hiccup. Then all the warning lights went off for a few seconds, the motor stumbled for a second or two and then resumed purring. Not a drop got into the interior, not a drop inside the lights, none in the differentials either and by God's grace, none ingested into the motor. A few months later my daughter and I came to a submerged portion of a trail with some cows bathing in it? How bad can it be if cows are standing up in there? We shooed them out the way and plop, the right side fell off and the passenger side window was almost in the water! Once again I panicked and gunned the engine and we got out of their right quick. Only damage done was to my pride and my youngest daughter chastising me for not listening to her, again! LOL Amazing trucks! This was right before we sunk ours the first time:
  10. Marty and a fella on the Tahoe-Yukon forum, Gary, both have Direct Injection engines and have shown that octane rating and to a lesser extend, fuel brand, has little to no effect on fuel economy. Amazing to me as I've been proving to myself for thirty plus years that higher octane gasoline yields increased fuel economy and brands definitely play a role as well. Once that revelation came to mind, I thought back to my previous diesel powered vehicles and can say that those engines were not affected by different brands either, it was all #2 if memory serves, up and down the east coast.
  11. Deal of the century for ACDelco oil: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=9721864&jsn=254
  12. Contact BlackBear Performance and see what options are available for yours.
  13. ACDelco oil is not always easy to purchase. Not as simple of going to Walmart or even the local auto parts store. I had to hunt it down and drive a ways to get it. Thus far it seems to be better than plain Mobil 1 synthetic. 2014 for the SUVs.
  14. The trip prior to that, the outside temp was 99-100 degrees on the trip down south.
  15. Not bad Marty, mine delivered 18 mpg @ 70 with the AC on and AFM off running at about 7200 pounds yesterday. It was 96-97 degrees out during the run south and trans/transfer case temps got up to 157 on the highway and 167 on city streets to our destination. I think the oil was 221 or 211, can't remember. Coolant was 194-195.
  16. Ok, so you're using Pounds per Hour in lieu of Gallons per Hour? Never thought to calculate fuel use that way, aviation versus marine backgrounds??? LOL
  17. Pounds/Hour of what?
  18. That bulletin is for Gen IV LS engines. The oiling system and pump is different in the Gen V LT engines.
  19. That document does not apply to the L96, a Gen IV motor.
  20. Always amazed at the performance of these things!
  21. I also use the cruise control almost exclusively while driving, except during landings and takeoffs! It never fails, we're cruising along at 71 mph and the same knucklehead will pass you three or four times or more. After the second time, my policy is to no longer move over for them as they are not paying attention, go around knucklehead. I've had some real screwballs like Marty encountered, driving slow as molasses and all of a sudden feel the need to establish dominance if you want to pass or change lanes near them, crazy folk. A great many of these impatient and reckless drivers we encounter at the next stop light, exit or rest area. More than a few times I've had the same folks pass my rig in every state from Florida to New York. We were doing 60 or 65 at the time and they were running just as fast as they could get away with and yet, they kept passing our rig. Foolish.
  22. Because it does. The L96 in your truck is a Gen IV engine, same as my LC9 and i run the long filters with no problems. While I have used the PF63E, I do not like the paper construction, preferring the K&N HP2011 with the 1" nut to make removal easy peasy. It also flows more oil, has a higher micron rating and much higher burst pressure. The paper fibers clog the screen under the oil pressure sensor in AFM equipped trucks like mine. Not sure if yours has the screen but it certainly doesn't have AFM. Use up your PF63s then get something better.
  23. The DIC calculation system is pretty accurate in my truck (GMT900) if I recognize a few things. First, it does not account for remote start fuel usage or time (I think). And, it should be reset with each tank to ensure the best tank to tank accuracy or else it will give the long view and not move so much, might say 14.6 when one tank was 16 and another 13 and barely moved a tenth. The DIC allows us to compute from the Odometer, Trip Odometer, Hour Meter, Trip Time, Fuel Used and we can use that with Fuel Pumped to run multiple calculations and average them all out. So I can then compute Distance 2 ways, Time 2 ways, Fuel Used 2 ways, Speed, GPH and MPG 2 ways as well. Then I have formulas for Miles per Dollar and Cents per Mile. Since the truck runs on three different types of fuel, averages are made for all three, Price per Gallon, Center per Mile, MPG, GPH and MPH. I'll also further break it down to alcohol content percentages. Average of averages of averages. I have no idea what are the accepted standards, just what seemed right to me at the time I made those excel based calculators.
  24. Sorry fellas! You're right, I shoulda kept on reading! LOL I have run my own mileage tests for my truck in 5 mph increments using multiple 2-way averages on the flattest roads around and run them at night when the wind is calm.
  25. They don't even get above 50 mph doing the highway tests! https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/fe_test_schedules.shtml
