  1. That's too bad, I hope everyone was ok.
  2. The King James Bible is a faithful translation of the Masoretic Text and the line of manuscripts that came out of the church at Antioch. There are many thousands of fragments and copies and are in near perfect agreement with one another. Conversely, there is only one copy of the Sinaiticus Text and it has no chain of custody before the 1840s. It does not agree with the Masoretic Text nor the line of manuscripts from the church at Antioch. Modern translations based on the Sinaiticus are missing many tens of thousands of words, upwards of sixty thousand words and they do not agree with one another. God is not the author of confusion. There are those that belittle God's Word preserved in the English and say it's too hard to read and understand and yet they learned to walk, talk, ride a bicycle, do math, read and write, pass a driving test and so on. God promised to preserve His Word. So where is it? The New Testament Church is an executive body. It has no authority to add to or take away from the scriptures or the commandments therein. Indeed, the Lord has placed a curse upon those who attempt to corrupt His Word: "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." - Revelations 22:18-19 The King James and New World Translation are not in agreement with one another. Their have been several editions of the KJV but no revisions. On the other hand, the latest revision to the NWT has 13% fewer words than previously. Marty, this is your post and I shall not comment any further in it.
  3. Various companies were licensed to make them over the years. The last is/was Vetronix. GM has moved on to another system. OTC, Bosch and Vetronix all have slightly different features. The Chinese factory started selling them, maybe they changed them just enough to make it legal like? Mine does not have training software nor the ability to copy PCMCIA cards but it can program and do everything else.
  4. Ebay sellers with good reviews, the latest software is 33.004 so make sure it has that. You can get them with and without the hard plastic case. Expect to pay anywhere from $300-350 or so delivered. It will pay for itself in short order with money saved by quickly and accurately diagnosing and even heading off problems.
  5. We bought 3 one gallon bottles of Mobil One and Mobil oil plus an extended life filter and got back $29 taking advantage of the various rebates they offered this spring.
  6. Coolant getting into the crankcase could do it too.
  7. See my earlier post on the subject. Even if your OLM said you had 15% and were at 7500 miles, it's supposed to be the limit nowadays. If yours does go past 7500 without calling for an oil change, please let us know.
  8. Probably both. The OLM took for granted that people were using approved oil. Conventional oil is dead by 5,000 miles so by 7,500 miles it's making a mess inside. I run Mobil One and change it around 5K miles, the motor runs better even then. In other cars I've run Mobil One to over 20K miles and those motors ran fine but they too liked clean oil and ran better on it and got better gas mileage with clean oil.
  9. The oil life monitor uses engine revolutions and temperature as its main calculations. It also uses time (one year limit) and for 2013+ mileage; automatically limiting oil change interval to 7,500 miles.
  10. If you're going to keep this truck you should get a Tech2 and a subscription to AllDataDIY and or the shop manual in pdf form from SeriousCTBuyer on ebay. The Tech2 can pull up codes in history, it can test your coils, injectors, AFM system, etc. It can see just about everything electrical and electronic and interact with them too. Without it, you're just guessing. If she threw the light while going up a grade, my guess is cats, but you need to get a good scan tool on it so there's no question as to what is wrong.
  11. Check your PM.
  12. From my first edition NWT somewhere in my garage. 1961 if I remember correctly and in the Forward of their 1950 edition of the NWT - New Testament I believe. It's been a long long time since I researched all this. They plainly said their bible was based almost exclusively on the Westcott and Hort English translation of the phony Textus Siniaticus, itself written in 1839-1843 by Constantin Simonides, a scribe who wrote this bible for his uncle in the hopes that the Czar of Russia, who was looking for a bible, would give the Monks in Greece (Isle of Patmos) a printing press. But the other Constantin swiped it before it was cleaned up. It's the lie of the devil that this is the oldest manuscript. It has no chain of custody before the 19th century. The LXX, the Septuagint, is also a complete fraud, only referenced in a letter which has proven to be false because all of the information in it is false and the dates and times do not add up. Again, no chain of custody unlike the manuscripts out of the church at Antioch and the Masoretic text. You can actually view the pages of the Siniaticus online and even buy a giant book with high quality photographs of each page. The thing is a mess and obviously a rough draft of some sort. That portions of it were artificially aged is obvious, probably with tea. Other portions are still white and even in the 1800s, others who had seen portions that today are "aged" described the pages as white when they first saw them. And what's the other problem with the Siniaticus? There's only one copy! There are thousands upon thousands of copies and fragments of the texts that make up the Received Text which the King James is derived from. I reject your statement from the post above this one in that states, "knowing isn't part of our nature but a result of Godly education". The bible says that ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that the wages of sin is death. God is Holy and Just and such a God would not condemn men who did not know what he expected of them. The scriptures also teach that all men are condemned already and that their best works are as filthy rags. The only way for these guilty sinners to escape God's wrath is to make repentance to God and put their trust in Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift, paid for by the blood of Christ on the cross, it cannot be earned as then men would boast. Biblical Christianity is unique in that ALL other religions and cults teach a salvation by works, that man has to be good or do this and do that to earn eternal salvation. Biblical Christianity teaches that man is depraved sinner, guilty for breaking God's Laws and only by acknowledging his fallen condition and turning his life over to Christ can he be saved and have fellowship with the Creator through Jesus Christ. I like cars and fishing and such but love talking about the things of God more!
  13. Point 1: You list a bunch of other writings from ancient times but my point is that ALL modern bible versions find their roots in the Sinaiticus which two occultists, Westcott and Hort translated into the English. Point 2: The Masoretic text are the Hebrew scriptures. Point 3: That's right. The bible "scholars" pursue after filthy lucre and ignore God's curse upon those who take away from His Word or add to His Word. Last time I checked, all modern versions are copywrited and to receive a copywrite, it must be at least 10% different from another. The KJV is not copywrited. Constantin Tischendorf is the guy who "found" it and brought it back to Russia. He also artifically aged it, have you ever seen it online? It would never pass muster with the ancient scribes, it's hurriedly and terribly written. There are verses in the margins even. Pick 5 modern versions and they will not all agree with each other. God promised to preserve His Word. It has been said that the Sinaiticus came out of Egypt. We now know this to be false but that's what they claimed. Are you familiar with the Law of First Mentions? What good ever came out of Egypt? The manuscripts that later made up the Received Text, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, came out of Syria, from the Church at Antioch that sent out Paul and Barnabus as missionaries. If I were alive back in those days and a Christian, would I seek the works of admitted occultists and agnostics or the works of a Christian church focused on missions, education and spreading the gospel? Points 4 & 5: The King James is the only perfect and inerrant bible. None other has stood such scholarly crititque, today just being ignored by the modern "scholars" because they cannot refute it. It is a bible of building one's faith, not sewing seeds of doubt. Modern perversions make Jesus a sinner, not God, etc. With regards to the NWT, those two guys from Brooklyn, with the help of the Jesuits wrote their bible to conform with their religion, hence the prolific use of the word Jehovah in places were the originals, even the Siniaticus, did not have it. Finally, there are typeset and printing errors but such does not detract from the claim of it's inerrancy. If God promised to preserve His Word, then where is it? If one has to consult multiple versions to understand a passage, who is the reader's final authority? I'll trust in my King James, the Holy Spirit is my teacher, he led me away from the NIV. "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:" - John 10:27 Good talk Marty.
  14. Romans 1 says that man knows right from wrong. It's when his foolish heart is darkened that he suppresses the truth in unrighteousness. The Law is our schoolmaster to bring us to repentance. Remember, ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death. The 3rd Chapter of John says that man is condemned already for not believing. There is nothing we can do to earn eternal salvation, our best works are as filthy rags.
  15. Not at all accurate. All modern bible versions come from the Textus Siniaticus which was written by a guy on the Isle of Patmos in the 1839-1843 time frame. It has no chain of custody. Bibles like the NIV are missing 60,000 words and no two bibles agree with each other. Is God the author of confusion? Christ himself quoted from the Masoretic text, there are no jots and tittles in the mythical Septuagint. God has chosen to preserve his Word in the English with the King James. It is perfect and inerrant.
  16. You earlier wrote that man cannot determine right from wrong. Verses 18 and 19 in the 1st Chapter of Romans states otherwise. The law of God is written on man's heart, he knows right from wrong. (Hebrews 10:16) Is the NWT your bible of choice?
  17. The Word of the Lord says otherwise: "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened." - Romans 1:18-21
  18. Think you can trade/sell if off to offset the cost of the one you really want?
  19. I think you're fine to keep it active and to change your oil soon and set up 5k mile intervals. Most folks do this and use Mobil One synthetics.
  20. E85 is like running cheap race gas, the motors just plain love it. They idle smoother, run cooler, make more horsepower and burn cleaner which is good for the combustion chambers on the Gen III and Gen IV motors. My factory E85 ratings are 11 city and 14 highway and mine gets slightly better than that. By the third tank, the alcohol content is highest and stable even when filling up with the idiot light on. Remember to drive at least seven miles after fueling for the alcohol content to get figured out by the computer and stabilize.
  21. Dirty oil is AFMs worst enemy. The lifters and VLOM and other parts have also been updated since it was first introduced making it more reliable. How reliable? Well, many people have issues just over the 100K mile mark while others double that without trouble. It also seems that the system is even more reliable in the Gen V motors. AFM adds moving parts and moving parts wear out. A Suburban with a 5.3 is not going to benefit from AFM as much as a Tahoe or regular cab pick up truck as it is much heavier. There's a saying, by deleting AFM, one gets Gen III reliability with Gen IV durability. Many people disable AFM through a tune or disabling device, the parts are still there and can fail, but still better than if it was operating. One frustration is that when it usually goes, there's no warning, it starts with a collapsed lifter. In your 2018, I don't think you'll have to worry about it for a long long time. Keep your oil clean and run Dexos/synthetic, don't switch brands/types which can lead to sludge problems, and change it before 7500 miles, preferrably every 5k miles and call it good.
  22. Mine was reset at some point in the past, otherwise it's average speed works out to 76 mph! At last fill up it had used 8,298 gallons. Fuel economy has gone down since bringing it to Florida, no more Appalachian hills to coast down; it was 15.4 mpg when I got it.
  23. Make sure that whoever does your pump uses the big pump and not the little one. The aluminum LC9 uses the Melling M365/12612289.
  24. IDK, just thought the changes were molded into the design. Just jogged my memory and looked at some photos. There's a different baffle with different shapes presumably to keep oil from escaping through the PCV. I was just reading a tech link article/comments and if someone is running a PF48E and experiencing low oil pressure they could switch to the PF48 and recover the lost pressure. Worth a try anyway. http://sandyblogs.com/techlink/?p=5000
  25. The new cover is #12642655. Google around for photo comparisons. If you're going to spend the money to chase this problem you have another question to ask yourself. Is it worth it to you to overhaul the AFM system as well or delete it?
