  1. Not impressed with Goldman Sachs' Marcus either. My old GM card still works, haven't received my new card yet. I always pay my credit card bills in a timely manner, I never carry a balance as I hate paying outrageous interest rates. I always got a thank you email from Capital One for payment, all I received from Goldman Sachs were semi-harassing emails reminding me that payment was due. They got their payment in time confirmed by the next months bill and the emails had stopped, but nary a thank you like I always received from Capital One.
  2. The oil industry is beginning to worry about demand destruction which will happen if prices climb much more. If you hear "stay-cation" make it back into the vernacular because of gas prices, a recession may be in the offing. It will start with hotels, tourist destinations, and the service industry will be hit the hardest, first. During the 2008 recession, manufacturers practically had to give their bigger, less fuel efficient vehicles away and 2 out of the 3 of them went bankrupt. Manufacturers and dealers have no good will left with the consumer now due to supply issues, price above MSRP, and so on and will rue their actions this next go around.
  3. The price at the pump is only the tip of the iceberg. Food price inflation is going to be the next hammer to fall. Energy costs are in-bedded in almost everything we produce and use but probably more so in agriculture than in any other segment in our economy. From the moment the farmer tips the hydraulics to drop the shovels in the ground to prepare the seed bed to that last mile to the grocery store, energy is at the core. Not appetizing I realize, but that buttered piece of toast you have with your morning breakfast, is actually diesel transformed.
  4. Not sure if it's still applicable but you used to be able to look on the sidewall of GM OEM tires and see a T Spec designation which indicated a difference between the OEM and replacement tires of the same manufacturer and tire model. If I recall the owners manual alluded to this in the tire section.
  5. redwngr, try doing ctrl+alt+delete, that should get you to the task manager where you can exit the program when locked up, easier than a hard boot.
  6. I agree, take your time and look for an exceptional 05 to early 07 extended cab 4x4 with the L33 or 1500HD with the 6.0 l.
  7. Transient, I bet GM would change this policy if they got hit with enough small claims court judgements nationwide for rental car costs. In most cases if they don't send an attorney in person to court to defend their view, there will be an automatic judgement against them, and if they then don't pay up, the county sheriff will be ordered to lock the door of the business, in this case the dealer.
  8. To the OP, you have every right to be driving a vehicle with all the safety systems intact and working and if Chevrolet won't put you in a loaner until your p/u is fixed file formal complaints with the NTSB and NHTSA, maybe one of these federal agencies can light a fire under their arse.
  9. Don't count on Mary, when it comes to the bowties all she sees is chEVrolet. John deLorean barely slipped the GTO past Ed Cole, Mary would have de-nutted him.
  10. Thank you for your service customboss!
  11. I can't answer your question on the tow package radiator fitment, but with 135k miles on your Yukon's clock, I would add a transmission fluid and filter change to your to do list, might even consider adding an auxiliary transmission cooler as towing stresses the transmission more than any other drive-train component.
  12. Diyer, I'm there now and I wish I had better news for you, but after a lifetime of being a DIYer, it is hard on the psyche to lose that ability due to the aging process. Even a simple under the sink plumbing repair that leaves your knees barking at you for days will have you calling a plumber next time. Last November I performed probably the last oil change I will ever personally do on my wife's Equinox, it took my old bones 2 days to recover from crawling beneath the car. And yes trusting the lube jockey at the dealer to get it done right will probably be an ongoing issue with me. If you have the where with all to afford a shop and install a lift, you can probably postpone the inevitable for awhile and continue with basic maintenance and less physically challenging repairs.
  13. 2005, and as redwngr said it's managed by the ECM
  14. Grumpy, I had Blackstone do a UOA on my wife's 17 Equinox with 36+K miles on the clock. I wanted a baseline for when I start doing dealer changes as I'm getting to old and crippled for DIY old changes (Santa didn't bring me a lift). I haven't posted the UOA here as I'm a tech illiterate, but I can share some of the pertinent information. Oil was AC-Delco Dexos generation 2, OCI was at 4909 miles (I know, I know, but wife was working a lot of hours at the time and I couldn't get ahold of her car). Fuel Dilution was at 2.5%, TBN was 2.9, wear metals looked good, viscosity numbers were below minimum threshold with the 2.5% fuel dilution so I'm going to shoot for a maximum OCI of 3500 miles. With your 6.5% fuel dilution on a relatively short OCI I would be worried about a leaky injector or worse perhaps the HPFP on it's way out.
  15. Looks like you need to change banks, lol. Merry Christmas to you and all the forum members!
  16. Kudo's to Chevrolet for this ad, it's a tug at the heartstrings ad invoking Christmas and the importance of family. And what a car that they chose! 66 Impala SS convertible with 427 and 4 speed and what I assume is a rare option of console gauges. In the short version shown on tv I noticed the big block front fender emblems and I assumed a 396, but the long version clearly shows a 427 air cleaner decal along with the 4 speed shifter and those console gauges. When I was in HS my parents had a 66 Impala 4 door hardtop with a 327 and powerglide, only similarity was the blue paint. Boy would I have had fun in that convertible in place of the 4 door!
  17. The rapid push towards EV's is only one of the multitude of reasons the current US administration needs a non-partisan cabinet level Secretary of Unintended Consequences with the power to overrule capricious and inane policy.
  18. We've been down this road before. 1974 model year cars had what was called the seat belt interlock system. It was fraught with enough problems that repair manuals of the era dedicated at least 1/3 of their content to trouble-shooting this one system. Fortunately in 1975 congress mandated the removal of this requirement. Was this a case of congress listening to their constituents? Oh Hell no, just like today they were acting in their own self-interest because they hated the system so bad.
  19. Grumpy, not sure about your wife's Terrain, but on my wife's Nox, there is a timer function in the DIC settings. Although not a true hour meter, for your purposes it will function like one. It's on with the ignition, automatically resets after 100 hours. You could reset it after each oil check if you wish assuming you have said timer.
  20. The cable dipstick on my wife's 2017 2.4 was the first one I had ever encountered and I wondered about it, so I took a gander at things. Mind you this was some time ago, but if I recollect correctly the dipstick tube itself is rather convoluted, kinda like a lazy S from where it enters the oil pan to where they decided to locate the ring pull on the dipstick. Blade style dipstick just wouldn't have enough flexibility, guess we should be happy that GM got the cable right and didn't give us a string to try and push through the dipstick tube.
  21. Grumpy, glad you got your brake job done to you and your wife's satisfaction, even though it take some $ and persistence. I just replaced the original wiper blades on the wife's 17 Nox yesterday with AC-Delco OEM blades that I sourced from Rock Auto and wanted you to know that I wholeheartedly agree with you on using OEM parts even for something as simple as wiper blades. Yes, they cost twice as much as others, but the originals lasted better than 4 years and the replacement was easy as could be, no need to mess with adapters, so OEM all the way! Others would disagree, but I even use AC-Delco batteries when the need arises as I've had good luck with them.
  22. Chris, I admire your fortitude for posting your mistake, perhaps others will learn from this so yes indeed it is a PSA. Here's hoping your repair will be perfect!
  23. Hard to say if a recession is imminent, but with the inmates running the asylum in D.C. now, anything is possible.
