I’ve been asked this question over and over again: Full Synthetic is not 100% Synthetic? And today I was helping a neighbor with his high dollar toy and we too got into this discussion, he’s returning his Penzoil Platinum and ordering Amsoil. Full Synthetic is conventional oil mixed with 100% Synthetic additives which are used for cleaning and protection. 100% Synthetic is 100% Synthetic (man made oil) mixed with 100% Synthetic additives. You’ll even find that 100% Synthetic takes much longer to burn off which assists in engines known to require adding quarts between oil changes. Ok, I’m outta here, Margarita Night..... You’re still missing the point, I’ve demonstrated the difference between Amsoil 100% Synthetic and Mobil1 Full Synthetic adding price difference and what you’re getting. If you’re talking about the over priced Full Synthetic Mobil1, you can find that stuff at any Walmart or local auto part store. My very own experience going from Mobil1 Annual Protection is that I’ve actually noticed my engine running much smoother and much less of that GM tick to almost zero sound. This indicates to me that my engine is getting better lubricity. In addition, my engine is getting not only much better lubrication but smoother running engine means less wear and tear. In all honesty, if you’ve got a pick from two USED identical model vehicles with identical motors identical mileage same oil change intervals etc, which one would you rather have, the vehicle run on 100% Synthetic or the vehicle run on Full Synthetic? I couldn’t agree with you more, it’s your vehicle and only you can decide that. Do what makes you happy. I just want everyone to be better informed on what’s real and what’s not. You be the judge, running two separate oils, one Full Synthetic and the other 100% Synthetic for 4K miles, think you’ll get much more wear and tear on your components through the 4K miles duration from the Full Synthetic or the 100% Synthetic? Nope, just a regular guy that’s trying to get the word out. “Full Synthetic” It’s misleading and everyone should be educated on it. You pay a lot for your vehicle and to some a fortune, knowingly entering a mental contract telling yourself that you’ll buy what’s best for your new vehicle. Personally, I’ve worked very hard for what I’ve got and through the years have personally seen a huge difference where corporations are pushing profit over quality. There’s absolutely no law that keeps them from misleading you into believing their oils are 100% Synthetic. Do your homework, you be the judge but remember, corporations pay for results, marketing firms only care about how to physiologically manipulate the consumer into buying their clients products. I believe everyone is entitled and should do what they can afford to use on their vehicles. Side buy side comparison, less wear and tear on your engine is the most important for the sake of longevity. Tests have shown that, when compared side by side, there’s literally zero wear on your engine when compared to Full Synthetics. “Full Synthetic” is a marketing gimmick. A 100% Synthetic motor oil “will” do better at protecting your engine from it taking much longer to break down. Additional, additives play a key roll in keeping your engine clean. Pennzoil “ULTRA” Platinum is a very good Oil due to its additives. It’s still not 100% and when you compare prices, Amsoil at $10 per quart, Amsoil, IMHO, is the best bang for your buck. Another thing I love about Amsoil is that they keep a purchase log for you. I always order 10 for free $100 or more shipping and it’s delivered right to your door. I’ve started this Topic in order to inform and help everyone guide each other on what’s real 100% synthetic and what’s just marketing gimmick! Mobil1 Full Synthetic is NOT 100% Synthetic! It comes from base stock crude with 100% Synthetic Additives. Amsoil is 100% Synthetic Motor Oil with 100% Synthetic Aditives. Amsoil has been proven to be 4X better protection than the top of the line “Annual Protection” Mobil1. Amsoil is $10 per quart online with free shipping when purchasing $100 or more. Mobil1 Oil Filters only capture small as 30 microns where as Wix XP Oil Filters capture as small as 20 microns. I’d run fuel injector cleaner. Had same thing happen to me with a 16 Yukon, dealer wanted to charge me a few hundred so took it home and started using Lucas Fuel treatment and after a few tanks it just disappeared. KO2’s come in D rated too, check them out too. If comfort is a priority then I’d avoid heavier oversized tires especially E rated.
