  1. It's a big deal. I understand GM wanting to monetize that data, unfortunately i have yet to see an infotainment system that worked as well as CarPlay, and I'm confident the Android folks will soon tire of paying GM for access to the Android apps already on their phones, and that they are already paying data plans for. Adding AppleMusic as an app to the GM environment where I still need to pay for data access is a non starter for me - I already pay for one data plan and don't see how it makes sense to pay for another one. I won't be buying a new vehicle that does not support CarPlay, as long as there are alternatives (Body on frame like my 1500) that I can purchase when the time comes. I think it's quite a misstep by GM, I wonder if they will come to their senses. It will be weird to not be driving a chevy vehicle after 40 years of owning them.
  2. https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls is a great start point.
  3. I'm sorry GM Customer Service, but my 2021 Silverado will be my last GM Product. Even with the Apple Music app, I'd still be required to use your in-car wi-fi, and I still would not have access to Apple Maps and Messaging, which I use daily in my truck. CarPlay/AA support is a "have to have" for me when I buy a new vehicle.
  4. Diameter is pretty close, its the width that might give you problems: 275/50-22 305/45-22 Difference Diameter inches (mm) 32.83 (833.8) 32.81 (833.3) -0.02 (-0.5) -0.1% Width inches (mm) 10.83 (275) 12.01 (305) 1.18 (30) 10.9% Circum. inches (mm) 103.13 (2619.46) 103.07 (2617.89) -0.06 (-1.57) -0.1% Sidewall Height inches (mm) 5.41 (137.5) 5.4 (137.25) -0.01 (-0.25) -0.2% Revolutions per mile (km) 614.38 (381.76) 614.75 (381.99) 0.37 (0.23) 0.1%
  5. In my specific case my 2021 6.2 (Built in February, not part of the recall VIN Sequence in the recall) engine was replaced with a reman. when the engine failed at 26000 miles. So, I can report that they do not always replace with a new engine.
  6. Things will pickup when we have more info around the next gen Trucks, and we can have endless discussions and excitement (and 2nd guessing and GM bashing)like we had back in 2018/2019.
  7. You can't do it - the 2024 Is on the "Global B" Electronics platform, its a completely different and non-compatible protocol.
  8. I take it the revelations that Lexus/Nexus was sending that data to insurance companies was a liability too great for GM to consider. I received this email yesterday: From GM: Dear bwoodsmn, We are reaching out to inform you that we are discontinuing the Smart Driver service on June 26, 2024. As a result, you will no longer be able to access the Smart Driver features in your myChevrolet mobile app. No other OnStar services are impacted by this change. If you have any questions, please check out our FAQs here: Smart Driver FAQs. Sincerely, OnStar Member Services
  9. I own a 2/21 build, 6.2 - 20,000 miles, over half towing a 5k RV, and no problems. So, from my sample size of 1, you'll be fine. OK, so, you are on a Silverado forum, and of course, people are quick to post about their problems, so you are in the right place for folks to chime in about how bad their engines are. I rarely post to say how happy I am with my truck - who'd read that? I will say the lifter issues have not reached the point of a recall, or a successful class action suit, so the numbers, while noticeable, have not reached those action points. Lifter issues have hit all years, unfortunately - but at a rate that's been discussed on this forum to be less or around 2% of the engines built. Of course, if you own one thats failed, you would argue that number is too low. I knew about Chevy lifter's when I bought my truck and I bought a drivetrain extended warranty. I'd suggest you do, too. Good Luck finding your new truck!
  10. No, they are different and are not cross compatible.
  11. Michelin Defender LTX is a solid all-season tire in 275/50r22.
  12. This reads like something from ChatGPT What device are you writing about?
  13. In a 2021, you would need to have an IOT level radio, with Nav, to see the Map tile in the split screen. It is GM Nav only, you can't drop Google Maps or Apple Maps into that spot.
  14. Here's what I have learned, after researching the same question for several months. The 22" wheel does not allow for a lot of sidewall, so there are not as many All Terrain options as there are for say 20" or 18" Tires. Nitto has several options in 305/45r22 that fits, according to several threads already started (hint) on the subject. BFG KO All Terrain does not fit without a front level - as they only do 35/12.5/r22 in that size. With the lift, the Upper A Arm has very tight clearance, still might need a spacer. The BFG option would be the Trail Terrain TA, in 275/45r22. There are also 285/55r22 and 285/55r22 options that fit. Happy hunting!
  15. ...Is your opinion. There is no collaborative evidence that lines up with that - Bad lifter springs and lifters have failed in engines with and without DFM, those parts are the contributing factor, not DFM. But, your popular yet unproven opinion sells lots of Pulsars and gives false security to those of you seeking out trucks that shipped without the DFM chip.
  16. Is the front leveled at all? Hard to tell from that picture, but 33x12.50 have generally rubbed from what others with stock 22" wheels have tried to run in the past. You would be one of the lucky ones if those tires are not rubbing!
  17. My guess is that they are different because in 2020 Chevy added Adaptive Cruise, where in 2019 there was just regular cruise, and the parts to support that have a different support structure behind the grill. Of course the 2022 refresh has a completely different grill and fender design.
  18. No - porpoising is not really a thing, it damps out in 2 oscillations at the most, the suspension cleans it up. Yeah, I'd say the rear weight of the suburban helps with smoothness but at the expense of payload capacity. The 2022 suspension is much more advanced than what you had in your old suburban. I have never considered adding sandbags when I'm not towing. Its plenty smooth for daily driving when empty.
  19. So, I tow a 4500 pound RV. Back in the day, I had a 2005 Suburban, standard suspension. I then went to a 2019 Silverado Crew Cab Short Box, with the standard suspension, There was just a little proposing, with a weight Distributing hitch. I understand thats not an option with a boat. I then went to a 2021 Silverado Crew Cab Short Box with the adaptive Suspension. The 2021 has much better road manners all the time, it is much smoother with, with less rear hop, with or without the trailer. I attribute that to the upgraded suspension. Is it better than the old Suburban? Well, its no worse. The Suburban has an advantage unloaded because of the added weight of the back glass and roof, while the pickup has open space. That makes a difference in the ride quality, for sure. With towing, depending on how you load your hitch weight, i suspect you could dial in the correct weight easy enough to help eliminate the porposing. When I am in town and running the trailer back and forth to storage, I don't bother with the weight distributing hitch, and the ride is still fine. So, my takeaway is that you will get a smoother towing experience with the upgraded suspension. There are some guys out there that have done airbags with the adaptive suspension - etrailer has one, for example, so there are some modifications available. I don't feel at 5000 pounds I need to do that.
  20. As cool as the refresh is, once the newness wears off and the 30.00/month subscription for the google functionality kicks in (!), and that the software engineers that wrote the center display did not fully utilize the screen - the clock (and the other lame tile options that tale up the right side if the display) are just a wasted opportunity to me. Maybe in 2024 they will rewrite the software so the whole screen is utilized. In any case, I'm plenty happy with my 2021 High Country Black/Umber Interior, and that I'm not waiting on chips.
  21. This trailer is in the 3/4 ton range - you will most likely be over your max payload once you are loaded up. You'll ba happier with a lighter trailer or a bigger truck. You'll be pushing the limits, for sure.
  22. Mechanically the 2021 and the 2022 LTD are the same. I don't know for sure, as i have a 2021, you should reach out to the chip tuners to confirm compatibility - I suspect you will like what they tell you!
  23. Not as many as there were, lol - I had a 2005 Suburban in that color - its just a little different than the SEO teal that is (rarely) available. A few years ago (2019) I saw someone here that had wrapped one in teal that was very close to the old GM one. Here's the link:
  24. If you like the truck, buy it already and extend the power train warranty and enjoy it for years, If you're really worried about it now, don't buy it - you'll always have one ear listening for the tick tick tick.... I'd buy it - the forum exaggerates every problem these trucks have to where you would think they all break - and they don't. Many of us have trucks that work just great, we just don't find as much to ****** about.
