  1. UPDATE 8/30/2023: I have my truck and trailer back. I’ve driven 40 miles with it and had zero disconnects. The tech had my truck and trailer for an entire day. He drove it all over the place with zero disconnects. A service bulletin should be coming out shortly. They replaced the TBCM with an older TBCM. They are VIIN matched and can be difficult to order under warranty for the 2024 when they don’t match with the VIIN.
  2. FIX IS COMING FROM GM! 8/26/2023 - Our FSA will be installing a component on my 2024 3500 this week and testing it with my LQ trailer (no solar charger, just aux batteries on trailer) at our dealership. Will update with the results. I can say that I had zero issues of dropping the trailer brakes when the Hydrastar CAM was working properly on my 850 mile trip to Tennesse in July. The CAM wire was cut at some point under the truck and the issues with the trailer brakes came back. Pretty certain GM is on the right path with the part we are asking this week. Fingers crossed!!!
  3. I argued with my dealership about how it was written in the book back in 2020. Didn’t get anywhere. My husband and I own this dealership and this is my 3rd HD 3500 and each one has had to have the plug swap done. The plugs on the end of the cameras are another issue. They easily pull off the wire and there is no means of getting the plastic end of the plug if it gets damaged. We are trying to run these issues up the chain but, it is an uphill battle. With the 2024 I had trailer connection issues and had to ad a Hydrastar Controller Adapter Module on the truck (not the trailer) to fix dropping trailer brake issue. I love my trucks. Just port design in the towing department!
  4. UPDATE: Drove 860 miles with no issue. Used another trailer to move a horse and all heck broke loose when I hooked up to my trailer. Truck spent 3 days in the shop and I was told it was the Hydrastar CAM that GM told our Chevrolet tech to wire to the truck. I’ve been stranded with horses in Tennessee for four days. GM is finally listening. Our field rep for GM is hard in this issue. I went and bought a 2022 3500 JUST to tow home. It works just fine so far. I was told NOT to connect the 2024 to the trailer until it’s back at our dealership. Tgakful to have a spare driver with me! ********* My 2024 3500 had similar issues with my LQ horse trailer. It required installation of a Hydrastar Controller Adapter Module 381-7073. My dealership worked with GM tech to install it ON THE TRUCK instead of the trailer. This fixes my issue with ANY trailer (hopefully!)
  5. The camera plug/4-pin plug issue has been a headache since 2020. There is a fix that can be made to swap those plug locations. Just google “Camera location swap GM bumper bed” and you can pull up videos or have your dealership make the swap.
  6. UPDATE 7/15/2023: Brake issue seems to be resolved. I still need to clear the turn signal errors at startup every time. Additional issues now: 1. I have driven the truck/trailer a fair distance the past few days. New issue has arisen. 30 minutes into my drive the camera that is activated when the turn signal is applied does NOT show the side view of the trailer. It DID show it earlier in the trip but, now shows the FRONT camera view. After I stopped I took a video of the issue. Put in park and then revers, that cleared the issue. 2. The cameras for the trailer show a blank screen. I have the older camera that worked fine on my 2022. Blank screen. I have a brand new camera that I plug in and same blank screen. I will have the dealership see if there is an issue caused when they did the bumper/bed plug swap. Sooooo, there is a service bulletin for the EOH brake systems NOT talking to the trucks correctly. This has been a known issue since about 2021. However, we found that this applies to our NON-EOH brake system (typicallly the Hydrastar brake system) on my Platinum horse trailer. Constantly dropping connection without losing lights. Constantly tripping turn signal failure alarm. We completed the fix by installing the Hydrastar Controller Adapter Module 382-7073 to THE TRUCK, not to the trailer, as this remedies the issue for any trailer I will pull. The bulletin says to connect it to the trailer. However, GM tech had our service department attach it to our truck. So far it works fine after 50 miles. No turn signal or brake connection warnings at all. Our service department is filing this under warranty because it started immediately upon purchase. Even though this is not a GM part they use, it should be covered. Now, onto the camer system issues in a different thread!
  7. I am the wife of a Chevy dealership owner and a horsewoman with a large LQ trailer. I waited for the 2020 so I could have the awesome camera system, as my rear view trailer camera used with my Ford was awesome and I needed to represent our Chevy brand. As soon as I picked up my 2020 HD 3500 I told the dealership I’d be back because the Camera plug being in the bumper would cause the cables to get caught on the bed corner or bumper during sharp turns eventually. Well, this week I was finally able to have our tech at the dealership move my plug to the bed. I found the above thread, sent him the info and he was able to do it with parts they had on hand, He is now trying to figure out how we can replace the 4-pin/7-way that is now in the bumper, with another Camera/7-pin plug. Being a Marine, I don’t give up on finding a solution! I also had or have these issues: 1. Rear view camera on the big trailer not working. Interior camera works. It just quit on a road trip. Rearview camera on my small trailer works fine. So, we know its not the trucks fault. 2. Left turn side view camera failed intermittently. They replaced the side mirror control module (?) if I understood him correctly. 3. GM OEM TPMS sensors will not fit in my Alcoa wheels. The threads are off by 1/64” I have a company working on custom TPMS sensors. I should hear if he was able to do something next week. 4. Gooseneck ball supplied with the truck rusted and became stuck in the bed within 8 months. The mechanism to remove it has broken. I am trying a B&W ball now.
  8. I have a brand new 2020 Chevy 3500. Bed plug works fine on my 2006 Platinum LQ trailer with EOH brakes. Tried to use my 2014 Sundowner bumper pull and the Park Lamps (running lights) and Trailer Brakes won’t work. The rest of the lights and signals work fine. At times the truck will not even recognize the that the trailer is connected. All fuses in truck are fine, replaced trailer plug and same thing. Hook trailer to my 2017 F-350 and everything is fine.
