  1. I'm pulling a 30' Airstream Flying Cloud behind my LTZ. It's perfect for two persons who travel. No weight distribution or anti-sway is needed - just drop it on the hitch and go.
  2. It will be no surprise to you but the 2500HD will be significantly higher than you 1500. These are tall trucks with or without the 20" wheels. My 2020 HD is a couple of inches higher than my 2008 model was. That shouldn't be a problem as there are many options for a hitch bar.
  3. I'm not sure this will help with the above problem but I purchased a GM trailer camera about a month ago but have not had a chance to test it until today. Temps have finally warmed enough to allow me to plug into the trailer and ensure the camera was working. It went well - the camera showed a light inside the camera lens as soon as it was plugged into the truck receptacle. The camera view also showed on the infotainment screen inside the truck when I went to that view on the system. I'll be running the cable to the back of the trailer and mounting the camera over the next few days. Everything looks promising.
  4. The view on the dash display is very good on my 2020 LTZ. No lines or distortion of any kind.
  5. I can address one comment above about iDash not starting on every startup. I had this happen a couple of times and found that I was taking my foot off of the brake too soon when starting the truck. iDash never fails If I start the truck and keep my foot on the brake pedal until I see the iDash lightup. Taking my foot off too soon seems to have been the problem. For the CEL problem, I'd put a battery tender on the battery and see if that fixes that issue. Low batteries on modern cars can cause many mysterious issues. I see similar low battery issues on the Ford and Corvette forums. It's worth a try.
  6. I suppose this is a problem to watch for but I haven't had an issue with the iDash on my truck. I'm coming up on one year of ownership on March 2nd. and I've had the iDash since the truck had 500 miles on it. I have 6,500 miles on it so far and I'd hate to be without the iDash.
  7. My 2020 does not have automatic braking and to the best of my knowledge - none did. Maybe the 2021 models do - don't know about them. If you don't want the rest of us to guess about what you're talking about - keep doing what you're doing.
  8. If posters here would fill out their signatures, then we'd know what they are driving when they make a post. None of the posts above have a signature and I have no idea what truck is in question.
  9. I'm glad to hear they work, but they aren't quite the same as the OEM Clips. The main thing, however, is that they do work and they are available at an affordable price. The bad news is that they aren't currently available from Amazon. Maybe elsewhere?
  10. Automotive manufacturers are shifting more and more resources to Electronic Vehicles and less to internal combustion engines. I don't expect another new diesel engine to be produced by any of the current producers. Emissions, fuel economy regs and cost to manufacture these engines will sideline them in favor of EV's. EV's are in the news and their popularity and acceptance will grow rapidly in the next decade. Some will say it ain't so - but it's inevitable.
  11. You do it just like any other car you've ever had. Just be careful not to cross the connections as most modern cars and trucks have sensitive electronics that can be damaged it isn't done correctly. The passenger side battery on Duramax engines have an easy connect terminal on the battery and a ground lug on the right fender just ahead of the battery for easy cable connections. I'm not sure what connections gasoline engines have but they probably have something similar.
  12. It's not likely that the feature can be activated even if it is in the software. GM has gone to great lengths to encrypt the systems so that they cannot be tampered with. Everything I've read to date says the system cannot be penetrated.
  13. They most likely will. The engine is capable of much more HP and torque - it's just a matter of when.
  14. Remove the screws at the bottom front and bottom rear of the molding that hold what I'll call mud flaps. Once the screws are removed, pull the mud flaps off. Then grab the molding at top center and pull - it pops right off without any tools needed. You will probably break two or three of the small plastic clips but they're replaceable. The clips are not really accessible from the inside of the fender anyway, so there isn't much other choice on removing the molding. There is recent a post on this site that gives a source for new clips on Amazon for about $15.00 for 25 clips. Link for clips at Amazon:
  15. Let us know how well they work. I'm interested!
  16. I have no problems reading mp3 music from an SDXC card. The infotainment manual states that USB devices may include those formatted in FAT32, NTFS or HFS+. You might want to format your card with one of those three formats. Many cards come formatted in EXFAT and may or may not work in GM units.
  17. I drilled a 1/8" hole in the lid and attached a hex flange nut upside down. Gives you something to grab on to.
  18. It is what it is. No you can't change it!
  19. One advantage of Autotrac is not having to worry about forgetting to take the truck out of 4WD. Leaving the system on won't damage anything whereas leaving 4WD engaged could potentially snap and axle or damage the transfer case itself if driving on a hard, dry surface. that's an extreme example but it does happen occasionally.
  20. Are you saying that the fluid film acted as a solvent and softened the frame wax making it gooey to touch? Also, did you spay the complete frame or just experiment with a small part to see how the fluid film reacted with the frame coating? Either way, I think you'll need to scrape the damaged coating off down to bare steel and then recoat it with something suitable. If I had to go down to bare steel, I would clean the metal as well as possible and paint it with a quality frame paint. After it was painted, The fluid film might be a good choice over the paint but not on bare metal. You might be able to remove a good portion if it's already soft with a power washer. Looks like you're job just became a lot larger than planned.
  21. The snow plow prep package already has the wire above the roof panel. You would need to drill your own hole in the roof and fish the wire through the hole. Switches go in the dash to the left of the steering wheel. GM makes a new dash panel with the hole in it for the switches. The link below has everything you need to know.
  22. Sorry if I rankled some feathers here about my diesel remarks. They weren't meant to stir up anyone's emotions on the subject. There are too many variables in the gas vs. diesel equation to make a definitive answer. I said gasoline wins hands down unless you are one of the few towing heavy and often. How much you pay for your truck, how far you drive, how often you drive, how aggressive you drive, how much gasoline cost vs. diesel are all in play and future cost of fuel is unknown. Electric trucks are just down the road and they are going to take a big chunk out of the fossil fuel market. Future value of a petrol powered vehicle could plummet in 10 years due to popularity of EV's. Buy what you can afford and be happy with it. The rest is speculation.
  23. Experience tells me that it's cheaper in the long run to buy the truck with the options you want than it is to tack them on later. There's also only one monthly payment to make.
  24. Gasoline wins hands down for cost per mile and total cost of ownership. It's less expensive to purchase and cheaper to drive with the exception of those towing heavy most of the time. That said, buy the diesel if you can afford it! I drove the latest Ford and GM gasoline trucks before buying the Duramax and there is no comparison for power and driving satisfaction. My last truck was an 08 with the Duramax/Allison and this 10 speed transmission is the best trans I've ever driven. One caution: newer diesels don't like short trips - don't buy a diesel if most of your trips a less than 10 miles. Diesel emission systems work best and will give fewer problems if the truck goes far enough to reach proper temps and have time to function normally.
