As far as being clear, the view in the dash on my truck is very good. The line-up view gets me pretty close - not perfect but better than I used to do using a camera without the line. There is another view available that looks straight down on the ball that I find really good once I'm close with the line view. I've also put white electric tape on the coupler so that it stands out against the black background - helps a lot. I've seen where others tape off the coupler and spray it red or yellow for contrast. I've got a 2019 Ford F-150 that has similar backup features but the resolution on the dash display isn't as good.

The easiest way to change the trailer dimensions is to use the phone app if you have an OnStar subscription. Alternatively you can press the pencil shown in the image below to go into trailer settings. Trailer dimensions are available from there.

They line up. Measurements are different because the front edge of the windshield is curved - therefore the center light measures further from the front edge than the side lights.

Attached is a front on picture of my truck that may help visualize what you want yours to look like.

I measured mine and here are the measurements: Center Light - centered on the roof and 6" back from the front edge of the roof to the front, center edge of the light. Side lights - 4.5" back from the front edge of the roof to the front, center edge of the light and 1 5/8" from the side of the light to the drip edge. (Drip edge has the black rubber strip running along the roof line) Measure from the front corner of the light to the point where the drip edge starts. The side lights are wider at the front than they are at the back. I found a drawing on another forum that shows the 2017 measurements. The 2020's are not much different. No question that the a gasoline engine is less expensive to buy and also less expensive to run, however, I wouldn't give up my Duramax for the the difference. Diesel fuel is $0.20/gal cheaper where I'm at and generally stays that way. The power of the diesel and the 10 speed trans are a great combination if you can afford it. I don't really drive it enough for the extra fuel efficiency of the diesel to make a lot of difference but there isn't a gasoline engine in a heavy duty pickup that can approach it for fuel mileage.

Problem solved. The new drive came formatted with exfat and the Chevy would not recognize it. I reformatted to NTFS and it worked fine. It's interesting that a 2019 Ford F150 does read exfat and the newer 2500HD will not. exfat is also the standard format for USB drives.

Changing torsion bars on the new trucks is the same as the older trucks shown above. There is a new tool for the newer trucks because the bars are heavier and the cross piece is thicker requiring a bigger tool. The bars are really hard to remove once the tension is off of them. I found that renting a rotary hammer at a tool rental is the best way to drive the bars out of front A arm.

I think you need an OBD2 scan tool that can retract the parking brake in order to do the repair. It's getting harder to be a back yard mechanic with modern cars. I might have been wrong - I just found this and it looks to have the info you wanted.

I had the same problem after getting my 2020 Silverado. I swapped out the 7 way plug with a blade style plug after reading about the problem on another forum. The blade style plug makes better contact and feels more secure when attached to the truck. It's an easy swap and the blade style plugs are available everywhere RV parts are sold. Trailers aren't all the same and each may have different characteristics when towing. Trailer sway on a hitch pull is easily controlled with a weight distributing hitch with sway control. Once setup, your outfit should tow in a straight line and be little affected by big rigs passing at speed. Contractors that tow more than one type of trailer have a challenge because the trailers may require different setups. That doesn't appear to be your circumstance and a 2500HD will easily pull a 10,000 lb trailer.

There isn't much change. I suspect they are longer because the truck sits so much higher. Probably a little more expensive too. I have the Rancho shocks on my Z71, most do, and I like them. For an OEM shock they ride well and give good bounce control. Rancho's get a lot of negative reviews for a poor ride but that's not my experience so far. I doubt they will last like a Bilstein shock but I'm going to drive them a see just how long they hold out. I googled for 2020 Silverado 2500HD shock absorbers and it looks like Bilstein and Fox both have shocks available for these trucks.

You should fill out your signature so we know what you're driving. The job is straight forward on a pickup with a few caveats. A lift helps but it's not mandatory. Bilsteins are gas filled shocks and require some force to compress the shock enough to put the bottom bolts into place when installing them. The bolts need to be tight but not overly so. Check out a couple of YouTube videos to get a better idea about what you're doing. It's not rocket science!

My grandson enlisted in the US Army and is in training at Ft. Benning GA. I'm storing his 08 Silverado with the Duramax engine until he can come home and get it. I'd like to install a battery disconnect so that he can disconnect the batteries when he's on maneuvers or otherwise away for short periods. I have a disconnect switch capable of handling 500 amps continuous load that should well for this truck. I can't see where the ground cables on the batteries are grounded to the frame - there isn't much room to see especially on the passenger side battery. Can someone give me some idea where the cables are grounded on an 08? I'm waiting on the wire and hardware to do the job and a little advance knowledge would be a great help. Thanks in advance!

I have no experience with the GMC but it make sense not to have the DRL's on when in park. Lighted DRL's in park could be a nuisance to others in some circumstances. Also, there is no way to program them otherwise on the 2020 Chevrolet - 2021 models might be different but that's not likely.

Try deleting the trailer from the truck and then add it back making sure all of your measurements are entered and that they are as accurate as possible. Disconnect the trailer pigtail and the camera from the truck before deleting the trailer. Then add the trailer back and plug in the pigtail to ensure the trailer is recognized properly. Plug the camera back into the truck last and enter your measurements. The truck should not be running when connecting either unit (pigtail or camera) to the truck. Starting over can sometimes resolve issues. Good luck with it!

Buy the truck for the total package. Sure, the interior plays a part but the GM is a nice place to be, maybe not as much wow but still pretty darn nice. If you tow, and I do, then nothing else has the camera system the GM trucks have. Other drawbacks can make the interior less important in the purchase decision. Google Ford and Dodge death wobble and the multiple fixes that don't last for those buyers. Ford is still using the Bosch CP4 high pressure fuel pump that can be a time bomb waiting to happen. That's a $4000.00 repair that very few get covered under warranty. The ride quality is another factor in GM's favor. The Independent front suspension is a game winner. Buy what you like but don't get awestruck by the interior alone.

If you tow and I do, then GM wins hands down on trailering features. The camera system on these trucks is incredible.

You made a good choice. I love the looks of the Chevy and I think it's far better looking than the GMC. The odd looking wheel wells with the side lights on the GMC are beyond what I consider to be good styling - the front grill is a little over the top too. The 10 speed Allison is awesome and the technology is incredible. Ford and Ram have problems with death wobble which is nonexistent on the GM trucks. Ford also uses the Bosch CP4 high pressure fuel pump which can be a very expensive time bomb. DEF systems are the most problematic area on modern diesels and all makes have them from pickups to the big rigs.

DEF is DEF there isn't a premium grade. Get it from the pumps at the diesel islands at truck stops - it's a lot cheaper and guaranteed fresh. Truck stops use a lot of it and it won't have been setting in a warehouse for months before you get it.
