  1. My 2019 would drive me crazy with that noise. I don't have that problem anymore. My 2023 Sierra doesn't do it.
  2. Not sure about the ten speed but the 8 speed was junk right off the lot. Some of the symptoms you describe are what was going on with the 8. I'm not sure what can be done mechanically, except tear down and see what's inside. Someone should be able to help.
  3. I understand. Diesel fuel smell is not as strong as it use to be. Especially since most of the Sulphur has been removed. My main complaint, and has been for years, is the tax difference between on road and off road diesel. There is no difference in the fuel except color. Off road is tinted red while on road is clear or slightly green. That's why on road is so expensive vs off road. If you get caught running off road in an on road vehicle, there's a substantial fine.
  4. Just bought a 2023 Duramax Sierra on Wednesday. Hour and 1/2 drive home from the dealer. Parked in the carport and update showed up. Shut truck off. Next morning update showed complete. No other issues noted. By the way, I traded my 2019 Sierra SLT. I could no longer put up with the transmission crap, the rubbing noise from the rear and a few other issues. Got the standard answers from service whenever I took it in. I've been told the 10 speed is better.
  5. Thanks for the replies. After doing other research and talking to folks, looks like I'll be going with the '23 3.0. Still working out details with the dealer on the money side.
  6. I know this is subjective. I have the opportunity to buy a 2023 Sierra SLT with the 3L diesel. The salesman, a good friend, talks this truck up big time. Mileage and performance. However, I've never owned a diesel vehicle. So my question, how is the diesel. I'm also looking at the 2024 SLT 5.3. I currently own a 2019 SLT. I know how the 5.3 performs with the 8 speed. Looking forward to the 10 speed.
  7. Check the glove box or console for a check in date. The dealers have to do a check in inspection for any defects from the plant and shipper.
  8. I have a 2019 SLT X31. The ride can be a bit rough. On the interstate or good roads, it's not too bad. A bit stiff due to the off road shocks. There are two wheel drive SLE and SLT, but finding a dealer that has them is not easy.
  9. Watch out for all the add ons that will bring those low prices back up. Dealer add ons like paint protection, bed liner, wheel and tire protection and a host of others. If you didn't ask for them, and don't want them, don't pay for them.
  10. Agree. I can't figure out why it was in 4WD to start with. I haven't used 4WD in at least two years. Today I took the truck out and did duplicate the problem in 4WD. Going to keep a close eye on it. I haven't located the gremlin who put it in 4WD. Thanks for the replies.
  11. Pulled out of the carport this morning and the truck shuddered hard and did the same in the driveway. Got out on the road and the transmission shifted hard 1st and 2nd. Low power and the typical noise from the rear. The truck seemed sluggish on the highway and hard the hard downshift coming to a stop. Got to my destination and started to pull into a parking slot while steering left and the truck would hardly move. I straightened the wheel and backed out, no problem. Turned the wheels right, pulled forward and had the same problem. 5 hours later, backing out of the slot, wheels cut right, low power. Pulled forward, wheels cut left, low power. It was as if the truck was being held back. Once on the road, hard downshift at stops. Seemed to be sluggish. I slowed down for some railroad tracks and again, sluggish acceleration. I looked down at the cluster and the 4 wheel hi icon was on. I haven't used 4WD in at least two years. I pulled over, put the truck in park and the parking brake light came on. Mind you, I hadn't noticed the 4WD HI icon earlier. I never use the parking brake either. I hit the switch to turn of the parking brake off and set the transmission to 2WD. The only problem for the rest of the 6 mile drive home still seemed to be sluggish acceleration. Turned into my driveway and hard as I tried, no problems with steering. I put the truck in park, set the parking brake, put the truck in drive and the parking brake went off as it's supposed to do. I've about had it. I only have 26,000 miles on the truck. 2019 Sierra SLT bought new in 2020. I still owe on the loan. Anyone else have similar problems?
  12. Looks like a lot of sludge too. What did the filter look like? That so called fluid flush is a joke. A band aide. Don't know about the ten speeds, but it doesn't do anything for the eight speed shift issues. I too, would be interested in what you find.
  13. I have a 2019 Sierra. About 5 minutes after I shut it down I get noise from under the dash and around the Infotainment screen. I believe it's the shutters closing. At least that's what it sounds like.
  14. What is the warning?
  15. I have a 2019 Sierra SLT. 26,000 miles. Haven't had any power steering issues. Yet. Just the usual transmission hard shift and other stuff.
  16. Had it happen on my 2019 Sierra. Rather disconcerting when towing a loaded 20' enclosed trailer through pouring rain. Trailer light test was always good. Everything worked as it should. Dealer couldn't find anything. Neither could the trailer dealer. Both tested with trailer attached and unattached. It went away on its own.
  17. It happens on a lot of vehicles.
  18. One of mine went tango uniform. Bought a new one from the dealer, programmed it myself. Swapped the key with the new fob. Works good. There is a section in the owners manual explaining how to program the fobs. Takes about 30 minutes.
  19. Dealer did that on my Sierra. No help. There is a class action suit against GM for these issues.
  20. Stick to the maintenance schedule in the owners manual. It can be adjusted to driving conditions as stated in the manual. DEXOS is OEM. Some dealers push extras. The Chevy dealer I use to frequent would push fuel and oil treatments, wipers and other goodies they made money off of. My current GM dealer does not push anything not needed.
  21. Talked to a friend who is also a GMC salesman and he said he's unaware of yellow DRLs on the Elevation. He suggested I call the parts manager on Monday and see if he has any idea.
  22. Those are not OEM tires and rims. The stock tire is a 275/60R20. The DRLs are aftermarket and most likely aftermarket exhaust since you said it sounded "menacing". The twin tips are stock on GM.
  23. My 2019 SLT X31 has the high capacity filter. I replaced mine with a NAPA gold filter. Just had my truck serviced, the service advisor said it was a good choice. Did the same with the cabin filter.
