  1. There are so many ways to steal a vehicle. There are devices that can clone a key fob, even with rolling codes. They can clone a coded key. If they are close enough. Yes, it can be done if the fob/key is in your house or hotel room. There are computer programs that can access the receivers in the vehicle and unlock the doors and ignition system. The fob/key code clone can be easily made at home with a few parts. For all of the electronics and wireless systems, there is a way for a dedicated scum bag to access them. That truck was targeted. As I said earlier, the thieves had an "order" for a truck fitting those specs. Hotel parking lots are a prime target. I never use my key fob to unlock/lock the doors on my truck or car. Or do a remote start.
  2. Shame. Someone placed an order for that truck. It was probably in Mexico within a few hours after taken. These pros are just that. They know how to disable all the tracking and engine kill stuff.
  3. My 2019 Sierra does it. Just had it in for service yesterday. Dealer changed transmission fluid, which I was told was done on all 2019 and up trucks from the factory. I have had the hard downshift coming to a stop. The hard "chatter" shift some mornings. On the way home, 1.5 hour drive, the mild vibration seems to be gone. But the hard downshift is still there. According to the service advisor, it's due to the design of the transmission. If that's true, why change the fluid????
  4. Just saw this thread. I've had issues with a slight vibration on the highway. I could feel it in the floorboard and steering wheel. Hard downshift from second to first coming to a stop. Some hard up shifts. I have the eight speed. Yesterday, took it in for oil service. Told the service writer what was going on. We took it on the road, and of course it wouldn't duplicate. Pulled in to the service lane and it did do the hard downshift. After explaining how that transmission works, he said it needed a fluid change. I asked if that was supposed to have been done on all 2019s prior to sale. He said he would have it done anyway. After service and on the way home, at 1.5 hour drive, it did seem to eliminate the vibration. But not the hard downshift coming to a stop. Called him when I got home. He again said it was the transmission design that causes the hard shift. Anyone else?
  5. I guess my 2019 Sierra is old school. Has the sensor on the dash, which I believe most vehicles have as standard. But the auto dim? I haven't noticed it. I'll have to check it. Have you checked light settings on the DIC?
  6. Ford has a similar system that is more aggravating than the buckle to drive.
  7. I think just about every GM dealer carries BG products. Having worked in the service industry 24 years, parts and products are a big part of the profit margin in service. And service is the main money maker for dealers. Some dealers add a pretty high markup on aftermarket. I have seen BG MOA on Amazon at $33 for two. Personally, I only use fuel additives. Usually BG44K. I found that it works better than any others I have used. And those free oil changes? They are not a loss to the dealer.
  8. Many of us have that same issue. I have it on my 2019 Sierra. Scrubbing, grinding. popping etc. Transmission chatter when pulling out on the road. All I get from the dealer is the usual "all the trucks do that". That may be, but what is the reason?
  9. Just as an aside. My wife just cancelled OnStar in her 2014 Impala. She said the person on the other end kept trying to get her to stay connected. Wife finally got mad enough she raised her voice and told them to stop the account. They got the message.
  10. 2019 Sierra SLT X31. Experiencing vibration in steering wheel and floor board. Not heavy vibration. Thought it might be the roads but it does it on most roads. Usually above 55 mph. Taking it to dealer soon for service. Will have them check it out. Again!. Maybe tires, maybe front end. Curious if anyone else has or had this problem.
  11. In my opinion, there is more chatter on the newer models because they seem to make up the majority of those that comment on here. If there were separate forums for the 2019 Silverado/Sierra, there would obviously be a difference in comments. I went from a 2017 Silverado to a 2019 Sierra. Mainly because of the major problems with the Silverado.
  12. You need to contact Sirius so they can transfer the account to the new truck. You will need the radio code available on the infotainment screen.
  13. Do you have an active account? If so, you have to call Onstar to cancel the account. Use the blue button. Same for voice reminders. It's a pain in the ***. They will try to get you to stay.
  14. A few things to consider. Rolling codes. The fob transmits a code, if the vehicle recognizes the code, it works. Consider that one fob could unlock both vehicles if they are in close proximity. One fob would set off both horns/lights if the panic button is pressed. Remote start, may start both vehicles, however, I'm not sure of that part. Just my 2 cents worth.
  15. Agree with the seats. My wife's 2014 Impala LTZ has leather seats. at 71,000 they still look good. And yes, the ventilated (heat and cool) work great. Just did a 2600 mile round trip and that feature made for a more comfortable ride.
  16. You cannot disable it. It's an automatic safety feature. The only auto lock feature you can customize is the number of doors to unlock when you turn the vehicle off in park. Check your owners manual for instructions
  17. If FedEx has no tracking number and no record of pick up from the shipper, it falls on GM. Saying they are sure they shipped it is not proof, it's a copout. I would keep calling them. You can also call 1-800-462-8782. Customer complaint line. One thing I have found helpful when calling these numbers, at each prompt press 0. It'll get you a live person faster. Good luck and keep us posted.
  18. GM does not offer a single cab truck in the U.S. It's only available in Mexico. I have no idea why other than poor sales in the U.S. I'm not versed in the turbo 2.7. GM trucks don't have limited slip differentials. They use a locking differential. As far as the rest of your questions, maybe someone else will chime in.
  19. My wife's Impala LTZ just turned 71,000. I hope I don't jinx it, but she has had few problems with it. I had a 2004 Silverado LT and had no issues. Sold it and bought a 2017 Silverado LT. Piece of junk transmission. So what is the "time frame" for the lifter issue? I have a 2019 Sierra SLT X31. Have a bit over 12,000 on the clock. Biggest problem so far is hard downshift to first when coming to a stop.
  20. A big part of the problem, as I see it, is not the electronics themselves, it's the lack of ability on the technicians part to diagnose and repair. Dealerships are quick to point out that their technicians are GM or Ford or...trained. That may be. But not factory trained. Most are trained thru local community college automotive programs supported by the manufacturer. The CC here "trains" GM techs. Vehicle electronics is evolving at a fast pace. And it the techs are not receiving on going training and supplied with the needed tools, the problem continues. And of course the resistance by the manufacturer and dealerships to honor the warranty. Warranty work is lost profit to the dealership more so than the manufacturer. I do hope you get your problems resolved.
  21. Well, congratulations. I too have degrees. I'll stop here. No need to get into a pissing contest over education.
  22. Evidently you are the smartest person here. At least in your mind.
  23. I know some folks who ordered AVS shields by model and paint code and they don't fit or color match. Not sure about Weather Tech or the others.
  24. I should have clarified. This is from GMC " First, connect a compatible phone with the vehicle via a USB docking cable†. Depending on the vehicle and its equipment, a usable USB port may be located in the center console or glovebox. Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific details. Yes, it has to stay connected.
