  1. If it can't be turned off, and you'll be moving it just to hook up a trailer, move a few feet etc., buckle it like you would to shut off the irritating chime.
  2. It's recommended to use new bolts. Mainly from a safety and legal standpoint. Dealers recommend new bolts for that reason.
  3. The car game has changed a lot since the Chinese Virus showed up. Dealers are begging for used vehicles. My wife finally told one dealer not to call her anymore or she would file harassment charges. They want he 2014 Impala LTZ. I've had calls to trade my Sierra. All that to say that may be why GMAC is doing that. Just my thoughts.
  4. I have it. Used it a few times when coming up on accidents while traveling out of state. They can pin point the location. It is an added expense but if you bug them enough, they will give a better deal. My wife locked herself out and On Star unlocked it for her. Would have taken me two hours to get to her.
  5. In the settings section on the DIC.
  6. Recently towed my 20' enclosed with around 7,000 gross. I have a 2019 Sierra SLT 5.3. No issues. Towed over mountains and flats. As was said, trailer brakes on both axels, which most enclosed trailers have anyway. Proper tire inflation on truck and trailer. Proper hitch weight and balanced load. I used the trailer mode. Gas averaged 11 mpg.
  7. Same around here. Ford, Chevy and Dodge and Toyota are all at the same intersection. Ford does seem to have a lot of new trucks. Dodge has some. Chevy, not so many trucks or cars. GM is located in town and seems to have more trucks than Chevy. My very good friend works at the GM dealer where I bought my truck. Their stock is way down as well. There is a high demand for used cars and especially trucks. My friend and brother USAF vet works at Chevy. He's called me a few times asking if I want to trade my Sierra. My wife has had several offers on her 2014 Impala LX2. She won't trade or sell.
  8. The back end is lighter. The off road shocks make the ride stiffer. So hitting a bump, at speed will cause the truck to "skitter". My 2019 SLT X31 does the same thing.
  9. Not exactly sure what you mean. Do you mean the top gate dropping automatically when it drops? Looking at the video a few times, it doesn't show how he opens it, just that it comes down. I don't know how it works, unless it's an added feature on the 2021. A friend has a 2020 Silverado, he has a feature on his that lifts and closes the tailgate. Sure would be a nice feature for the heavy multi pro tailgate on the Sierra.
  10. My suggestion is to drive both of them. Preferably longer than 10 minutes the dealer allows. Consider warranty coverage. If I remember Dodge has two different transmissions. Do you plan on towing a filth wheel or bumper pull RV? I would also recheck the payloads. Both seem low to me. They sound more like payloads for gasoline (petrol) engines. Payload and towing capacity are two different loads.
  11. I need to check. on this recall. I have a 2019 Sierra 5.3 8speed. I haven't heard about a recall.
  12. My 2017 Silverado had some problems. Downshift was hard. Driving on straight roads at highway speeds, when I let off the gas to slow down I'd get the rumble strip effect. When I accelerated back to speed, upshift felt like the rear end was going to drop out. Towing my 20' enclosed trailer was no fun. At 9,000 miles I'd had enough. Took it to the dealer. Service had it overnight. Next day got a call from service. Seems while the tech was road testing, the trans overheated and went to limp mode. Took them two days for GM to ok repair on a truck still under warranty. The fix, drain fluid, flush, remove metal from pan, replace torque converter, replace filter, replace some valves. Road test good. It took a week to get a torque converter since no one had one in stock. Supposedly GM to one off the assembly line. I should say when I took the truck in I stopped to talk to my salesman who is also a very good friend. He immediately knew what the deal was and told me it was a known problem. Got the truck back. It ran fine for about two months then the same problems started over. Dealer service said they could do nothing more w/o GM ok. In October 2019, I traded it in. I told the salesman exactly what happened ans showed him my copy of the repair. They still paid off the remaining loan and kicked in another $5,000 on the new Sierra.
  13. Friend of mine had a 2020 Sierra. His tailgate would randomly drop. Caused some damage when it dropped while towing a trailer. He had it to the dealer several times, they couldn't duplicate and refused to fix the damage. He got so frustrated he now drives a Ram. Talked to him a few days ago. He's much happier.
  14. I posted about this on another topic. Shortly after, I got some e mails from GM Executive Resolutions Team. The lady said they were contacted about my post, (GM lurking in the wings) I explained the issue word for word what was in my post. The lady contacted someone else in GM, quality team or some other group. Bottom line, She called back and said the issue was with the trailer, not the truck. Seems strange that I did a test two prior to the trip and had no problems at all. For the record, I was towing a 2013 20' enclosed trailer hauling two bikes. As was mentioned, the DIC message was constant in heavy rain, check trailer wiring, trailer brakes connected. And yes, the ITBC light would go on and off. Trailer lights worked without problem, even brake lights. I had the wiring on the trailer checked by an auto electrician and a trailer shop. They could not find a problem with the trailer. It seems strange that so many have had this same problem. By the way, my truck is a 2019 Sierra SLT X31. As soon as I get a dry day, I'm going to check everything myself. I did mention to the lady that I've been a mechanic for over 40 years.
  15. Yep. Happened to my son on his 2020 2500 AT4. Got off the road quick. Had it towed back to dealer.
  16. Haven't had any issues with the gate on my 2019. A friend had a 2020 Sierra and had issues with his gate coming down while driving. Did it a few times and did some damage when it hit the trailer jack he was towing. Dealer couldn't duplicate. He had some other problems with the infotainment system. He now drives a 2021 Ram.
  17. Have to figure in what rear end is on that truck. I don't think it's too much trailer for the 5.3 I've towed heavier with my 5.3 2019 Sierra SLT. Go with the manual, find out what rear is in the truck, that is a big factor in towing.
  18. Just saw this while cruising through. Did you ever get it worked out??
  19. Yep. Threw me on my 17 Silverado when I had it. As mentioned, GM uses a variable voltage alternator, or smart alternator. Main reason is to keep the battery from overcharging and longer battery life.
  20. I have it on my 2019 Sierra. I haven't set it up since I don't use it that much.
  21. Given that max tow weight is gross weight, your actual tow weight will be less. By the looks of the photo, the tongue weight may be to high. Doesn't look like the suspension is set up for the load.
  22. I have the 19 Sierra SLT X31 Dark Sky Metallic. For me at the time, it was either that or the SLE double cab. I didn't even consider the AT4 though a good friend had just purchased a 2020 2500 AT4 diesel. I didn't like the double cab and none of them had the features I wanted anyway. The SLT i choose had driver/passenger tinted windows, the upgraded color matched floor mats and other amenities. The Denali was out of my price range and I didn't like all the chrome anyway. Regrets? Not really except I wish I had gotten the white version instead. I do like the looks of the AT4 though.
  23. Guess that's something I haven't noticed.
