  1. Driving through water is risky business given how the air intake is routed. It's at the bottom of an indention on the radiator cover/shroud. Water can easily be caught up there and just drain into the air intake tube.
  2. Lifter failure is different than throwing a rod. Also there is already a delete kit out there. https://www.amsracing.net/collections/gm-afm-dod-kits/products/active-fuel-management-afm-dod-delete-kit-for-2014-current-gm-chevrolet-gen-v-l86-6-2l-engines or https://www.amsracing.net/collections/gm-afm-dod-kits/products/active-fuel-management-afm-dod-delete-kit-w-stock-cam-for-2019-gm-chevrolet-gen-v-l84-5-3l-engines
  3. I just made trip. It was an easy one. The U-Haul trailer is a pretty nice piece of hardware and pretty stable. The truck handled the extra 6400lbs lke a boss. Extra braking power would have been nice but overall an easy trip.
  4. My hardwire kit for my camera required two connectors to be connected to the fuse panel. It needed a constant hot and something that was switched. This is so it knows when to go into parking mode. I used F26 (three prong fuse) which is USB/SEO RAP and F3 (standard fuse) which is the Garage door opener. There are a number of good options for the three prong fuse. F11, F32, F43, or F17. I went with F26 because it was the easiest one for me to get my connector into. Ones you figure that part out it is quite simple to route cables and tuck them away nicely. One thing I will warn you about is that there is a TSB out there that hardwired kits seem to cause strange things electronically. On my truck once in a blue moon I will get a tire sensor not reading. As soon as I unplug the camera it fixes itself. I just live with it now.
  5. I lucked out in that the SS was my 3rd car. I ended up daily driving it for nearly 3 years! Now it just sits most days. My wife sees how much they sell for now and wants to slap me. How often can you sell a car for more than you paid for it after 6 years of ownership is what she says. I'm not breaking even..... but still buying at $37K and getting $40+ seems like something you shouldn't pass up. She also says if I did that it would save me this towing trip. I'm relocating to NC and dropping it off in the garage of the house we'll be closing on.
  6. Coming from St. Louis area and headed to Eastern NC. I don't mind the Winston-Salem traffic, pass through there quite often. Your trailer weight is what I'm looking at as well so that eases my mind knowing it's not so bad.
  7. Definitely very lucky to have it. I bought it in 2016 during the GM 20% off sales. I love driving it and love having it live in my garage Definitely gets a lot of attention and even people offering to buy it. Just the other day a local City employee offered $40K for it. Said he couldn't find one and he loved mine. I'm hanging onto this bad boy as long as I can.
  8. So this isn't the typical "How much can I tow" thread. I know I will end up well within the factory limits of the vehicle. 2200 lbs Trailer, with a 4000 lbs vehicle, with maybe an additional 500lbs in the truck. I'm used to towing on flat lands in the midwest without so much of a hint of elevation..... and I'm plenty comfortable with that. Just wanted to draw on some of your experience in making a pass through the mountains. The elevation grade won't be so terrible. According to flatestroute.com the steepest grade I can expect on the climb is 6.6% and the steepest on the descent in 7.7%. I'll be on I77 through most of the route and the steepest grade there is 4.5% at fancy gap, which as I understand it should be pretty pedestrian. US-52 from VA into NC and around Winston-Salem is supposedly where the steepest part is but I can't seem to pinpoint the part of the route that would have that grade as US-52 around Pilot Mountain doesn't seem to have grade marked. Thoughts and advice? Anything from route, loading, securing the load I'll take it what nuggets of wisdom you have to share. I'm already comfortable with loading and towing on flat land but if you have nuggets to share I'll read them!
  9. Hopefully shouldn't need to lawyer up. If he hasn't taken delivery can unwind easily.
  10. Pretty much what you say..... https://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/03/2019-silverado-trail-boss-vs-z71-off-road-package-comparison/
  11. Anyone want to help me understand how too thick of timing teeth would cause this issued (generic misfire) without actually causing other internal valvetrain issues?
  12. Im guessing something is lost in translation between the Tech, the Service Advisor, and you. If the Master Cylinder is losing pressure that is usually not a good thing. Fluid leaking past the pistons/valves, meaning poorer braking performance, just depending on how bad and what is causing the leak. Total guess/reach here..... my guess is that it is probably more along the lines of the power assist has issues which might require an entire master cylinder replacement especially if it is a single unit. When the power assist goes out you can still brake it just requires more force on your end.
  13. Just to add.... I found out that as long as they have the VIN they can complete the sale to you with the incentives and actually deliver it to you later. You as the buyer are accepting a little risk in doing that as you are taking "delivery" before the vehicle even arrives but with vehicles in demand right now dealers shouldnt have a problem unwinding and finding another buyer. I "bought" mine on April 30, but didn't actually have my hands on it till two weeks later.
  14. It gets better over time as he computer is able to store more information about average fuel economy. Initially my range computer said range was low like 220 on a fill.... now It's 350..... but it stays at 350 for a while. I made a 40 mile drive home last week with it saying 350 range. I wouldn't be surprised if that number bumps up for me to something closer to 400 for range.
  15. Which model did you end up purchasing? https://www.fumotousa.com/cars-pickups-chevrolet-2021-silverado-1500-6-2l-v8
  16. Sorry for the terrible collage brought to us by MS Paint. After and Before pics. 15%'ish all the way around and the brow on the windshield. I say 15%'ish because the fronts are exactly 15 and the rears are just slightly darker.
  17. There are definitely parts availability issues in the performance market. Shipping isn't really an issue that I've experienced. I was able to order from Real Truck in May and get items in two days..... we're talking nerf bars and tonneau cover. For your order in particular I'd look at the vendor. Not that there is an issue with them (I may be speaking out my butt; I don't have any experience with that vendor), but in my experience when I see a seller sell at those discounted rates it is usually reliant on volume to get those prices. So they sort of hang onto your order until they can get the 10 or so other orders (for instance) necessary to get that volume price. You might be waiting for other buyers to join your buying group. Maybe call other vendors (real truck, etc) and see what the typical fulfillment time lines on Borla exhaust and see if maybe you have been waiting too long.
  18. I've got one on my LS3 Equipped SS Sedan. Never leaks, no issues with weather or hitting things on the ground whatsoever.
  19. Wise investment for a DI engine. The amount of oil, oil vapors will definitely cause carbon build up on the back of valves which are dry on DI engines.
  20. yeah would be nice to turn down the infotainment unit brightness independent of the dash.
  21. Report back when the order is accepted. There are people on this forum that are reporting they placed orders months ago that haven't been accepted or have not yet started production.
  22. Is that the incentive GM is offering or is it 4-5K on top of the incentive? Sometimes you gotta watch how those are listed on websites because there are many incentives that many people wouldn't qualify for.
  23. They're being bought before delivered in many areas. Demand outstrip supply. So many dealers aren't budging from MSRP.
  24. Hi All, Have a 2021 Northsky Metallic Blue LT Trail Boss with 6.2L being delivered this week. Looking forward to picking the brain of the community as I make the truck my own. As a side note not new to the 6.2L crew; also have a 2016 HW SS Sedan that will be living an easy garage life now that I will have the truck.
  25. YMMV based on big of a net you cast. Lara Buick GMC sells at a great price but you'd be hard pressed to buy something from them. I was in their showroom last weekend and every truck on the lot was sold or waiting delivery. Everything shown inbound on the website had deposits. Every single truck. You could order and get a good price still but you'd wait 8 weeks (according to them). If you are playing the incentive game that makes it a wild card. I just bought a truck below MSRP but not much below it. 2021 LT TB with the 6.2L. Within a 6 hour radius of me there aren't any on lots with the 6.2L unless they have a deposit. Most dealers are selling them before they hit the lot so no reason to discount them beyond GM incentives. Depending on the truck, engines, and options you may have more luck than with others. Again, YMMV.
