  1. do the blocks appear to be centered on the axle saddles and with the springs? if every thing there looks aligned then the springs may be twisting from the added height. you may want to loosen the u-bolts to make sure the pins are in the sockets. if the spring center bolts were broken the axle would shift front to back and will throw the steering off. how was it possible to do an alignment with the axle off center? if the installer did the "alignment" and said there's nothing wrong take it somewhere else, have them fix it and try to get the installer to reimburse you or take them to court if its their screw up. I have seen blocks that are not solid and have other pockets than the alignment sockets that the pin can fit in so that's where I would start
  2. did you use the 8 cylinder wiring harness and it plugged into the ECM? if so change the ecm to the one for the 8, if you used the 6cyl harness it may not have the correct number of terminals in the injector plug
  3. probably the wrong bracket, the truck should have come with 1 maybe not installed if you bought it new take it back and have them install 1. if not ask the parts guy to show you how it mounts
  4. sounds like it may be the multi function/directional switch. any ABS codes?
  5. do you have power to the injectors? check with noid light or test light. they should have power and use the ground as the trigger I believe, all controlled by the PCM. start with the basics , check fuses and wiring if no pulse before pinning the PCM
  6. newdude hit it , theres an obstruction somewhere. fluid level won't affect temp unless very low, I would think the after market pan would be deeper so lower reading would be normal. have you checked it after driving it?
  7. they should immediatly issue a recall to protect themselves now that they are aware, if they ignore the fact that its a safety issue they open themselves to criminal negligence charges as well as lawsuits. Im not familiar with the company but if its a small operation a recall could break the bank
  8. so what was the outcome? are they going to exchange it for the new design or reimburse you? thats a lawsuit waiting to happen if you hit something you don't see
  9. I had an 88 k1500 silverado. it was a good truck. had to rebuild the rear dif once and the trans was rebuilt or replaced at least 4 times in 300k miles. got rid of it when the trans went again. that truck was like a bulldozer pushing snow
  10. new member Tid has an 88, maybe he can send you some pix. very nice interior!
  11. I tried to locate a NOS harness with no luck so thought I was going to have to spend hours in the boneyard taking 1 out so I was calling around trying to find the right truck as it only fits 98 according to GM parts.com but 1 yard put it on their locator and it came back in seconds. I had it shipped to me and it was in great shape all the conduit intact and no cut wires. the only thing I have found different so far is the plugs for the upstream 02s and the harness are both female so I'm going to change the sensors instead of splicing the harness. the biggest challenge is sorting out which pigtail goes where and how it was originaly routed but I'm getting there. I had to remove the trans mount to get enuff clearance between the back of the engine and the firewall to fish the wires down to the trans. we are getting a blizzard here tomorrow and this will be the first storm that the truck won't plow since it was new.
  12. I'm in the middle of replacing the whole engine trans harness on my 98. not having any fun but it was too damaged to repair after getting wrapped up in the front driveshaft while plowing.the stupid bracket thats supposed to hold the harness out of the way broke damaging the switch and the electrical plug on the trans tearing the op switch off the engine etc when it wrapped up. big snow storm coming Saturday ,don't think its gonna make it, have to work tomorrow
  13. I would go with a used harness and that way if you splice it in the connections will be under the hood more protected from the elements
  14. I would go to the boneyard and scope it out and possibly get what you need
  15. I suppose it's possible if there was excess clearance there that the end of the bar would wear but you would think it would make a bunch of noise if its loose. I tried to remove 1 once and couldn't get it out of the socket it was so tight and rusted that I took the bar out still attached to the arm so you may have an issue there where you would want to replace whatevers worn
  16. as I've said many times here, codes DO NOT mean replace the part rather thats a starting point for diagnosing a problem flagged by the PCM/BCM. there are trouble shooting trees in the service manual and on Alldata etc that if followed will lead you to the problem. did you replace the correct 02 sensor? there are at least 3 on that vehicle
  17. and Welcome to the forum
  18. you should be ok but if you want the specs try downloading the owners manual. it should be in there. where you have the base model truck it probably has fairly small brakes but 900lbs isn't even as much as the gvw payload. take a good look at the receiver or bumper brackets where its an older truck depending on your hitch setup. Reese hitches tend to rust away over time, oem doesn't have that problem but check where it mounts to the frame I had 1 tear off loading a car onto a trailer
  19. well, you need a scan tool that does abs/ airbags etc cuz thats bcm stuff and even then it might not do bcm data so unless you have access to a fairly high end scan tool such as Snap-on, tech2,etc you may have to pay to get it scanned.
  20. did you have any luck finding the restriction?
  21. was it melted inside the harness or was it just fire damage? how far away are you from Beverly? I maybe able to help you look at it after the storm if you aren't far off and are open to that. I think a lot of the problems other than the 02 sensor may be due to BCM problem. have you scanned the bcm as well as the engine or just read the codes?
  22. Welcome Letsride, thats good info and likely Es problem, Hopefully he can get the dealer to cooperate without a hassle depending on where he is in Maine there may not be the option of another dealer local to him
  23. that would NOT be the bad ground if its melted further into the harness, to the contrary that ground would be ok trying to make up for another bad ground in the system such as the battery cable , body grounds etc
