  1. I have a 2023 Silverado with the 6.2. It has 29K miles on it. In June, I noticed the coolant level in the overflow tank was a bit low, like a quarter or a third of an inch down. I topped it off then. Today it is again down about a quarter of an inch. I'm checking the level when the engine is cold, of course. Is that normal/OK? I once had a Subaru that also seemed to need semi-regular topping off, but I also noticed on that car, once the level in the tank was down about half an inch, it did not drop further. Should I leave me truck as-is for now and keep watching it, or top it off again?
  2. One more data point....I got my inspection yesterday, it said the engine is OK. This is a 2023 Silverado 1500, manufactured in Dec. 2023. 28,000 miles, 12,000 towing a 7K pound travel trailer.
  3. I just got a message on my center display today, saying there was a pending update. I think the number ended in 132. It said something about updating for the low oil pressure indication. Does that sound like what you got, 15 z71?
  4. I am also glad to see it. However, I am disappointed in the scope of coverage. It is not a complete engine warranty, the only coverage is for the specific defects names in the recall. So if there is some other engine failure (e.g. lifter), this extended warranty will not help. I was hoping for extended coverage on the whole engine.
  5. What it says to me is that they are giving everyone a free oil change, so sure, exchange the 0W20 for 0W40, but then save it for the future.
  6. That sounds ugly. Did this happen on the fronts or rears or both? Do you have anything aftermarket like mud flaps or super-aggresive tire tread? Have you looked to see if all the factory fasteners are present on the liner? I have never driven my truck in significant snow so I have never been exposed to the conditions you encountered.
  7. When I ordered my '23, I wanted Max Trailering, which wasn't available on the Denali, plus HUD, which wasn't available on the SLT or lower, and I didn't want the spray-in bed liner, which was standard on the High Country. So I went with an LTZ and am happy with that.
  8. About that one-year countdown to zero on the OLM. I just bought an Equinox that has a manufacter date from last Fall. Based on the build date, It should be well under 50% left, but it's at 94%. So I guess they don't count down by date until it is sold. I'll be sure to change it before its birthday regardless of what the OLM says.
  9. Good luck with the new truck. Please let us know what the yellow sticker on the door jamb shows for payload. My '23 Silverado 1500 Crew Short Bed 4x4 w/Max Trailering came in at 1826, but that's with the 6.2L.
  10. I live in Colorado but have a wintertime gig in Texas. I got the cover from a dealer in Texas. I was back in Colorado when I identified the leaky slats. At that point I dealt directly with the Retrax corporate customer support people.
  11. I have a Retrax Pro MX on my 2023 Silverado. I started with a Peragon but sent it back because it leaked badly and my (short) wife could not open it. The Retrax also leaked a lot, at the corners and along both sides. I put up with it for a while, then made a cell phone video from inside with the cover closed, showing leaks coming through between the slats. I sent that to Retrax customer support, and then sent a new cover (and canister) very quickly. The new one is better. I do get some leakage at the sides but not enough to worry about. There is also leakage at the corners. I have added some sealant to the front corners but haven't licked the problem. Another thing about the Retrax. I do sometimes use it partially opened. You should know that when the cover is locked in the fully closed position, the locking pins drop into a hole in the track. That's pretty secure. But when you lock it anywhere else, there is no hole, and it's possible to force the cover open by just pushing it. The cover won't open accidentally.
  12. Does this apply to multiPro/Flex tailgates or just the traditional ones?
  13. I have a 2023 with the 6.2 and Max Trailering. I would describe the shifts as "smooth". Smoother than my 2001 Toyota minivan or my 6.2L 2010 Yukon.
  14. All I know is the Max Trailering option on the 1500s includes upgraded steel springs.
  15. My 2023 Silverado 1500 crew cab short bed 4wd LTZ with NHT shows a payload of 1826 pounds and a tow rating of 13200 pounds. This truck was ordered without sunroof, bed liner or running boards to help with the payload.
  16. Yes, just tried the app. My 2023 Silverado CC LTZ is shown with the right color and LTZ grill. This is on Android on a Galaxy S22+.
  17. Here is an idea you might be able to use. In my last vehicle I had a tire pressure display unit for my trailer. It was stuck on a flat part of the dash. There was no similar place on my 2023 Silverado. On my truck, the right most switch is a blank and the one next to it is an extra wide switch for powering all windows at once. I cut a small piece of sheet metal and bent it into an L shape. I used sticky back Velcro and attached the metal to the dash above and below those switches. Then I attached the display to the metal. This completely blocks access to the blank switch and makes the other hard to reach. You could do something similar that would block just the one switch. Yes it would be ugly.
  18. I decided to get a new 1500 last year. At first I looked at the Denali, but the lack of max trailering was a deal breaker. I ended up with a Silverado 1500 LTZ 4x4 short bed with 6.2, multiflex tailgate, tech package, and max trailering. I skipped the sunroof, bed liner and running boards. The payload sticker says 1826 pounds. The truck pulls very well, much better than my 2010 Yukon Denali AWD 6.2 that also had max trailering. I've crossed the continental divide in Colorado four times so far and I'm very impressed the cooling system. Towing my 7100 pound TT (also a 25 foot AS) from Copper Mountain to the Eisenhower tunnel, my Yukon's tranny temp went from 150 at the Dillon exit to 250 at the tunnel. I did the same trip this year in the SIlverado, the tranny temp went from 136 to 172! If you do go for the Denali, don't forget the carbonPro bed gives you some extra payload. By the way, the 837 pound tongue weight quoted by Airstream is not a real-world number. My 25FB's tongue weight fully loaded for a long trip is over 1100 pounds. (I have added four solar panels, a 1000 watt inverter, and replaced the original batteries with a pair of group 27 AGMs; but even without those changes, I'd probably be over 1000 pounds)
  19. A long-delayed update....The truck (2023 Silverado 1500) does have three fuse boxes: --On the right side end of the dash; Pull out on the edges of the cover to free it (not the square hole) --Under the dash to the left of the steering wheel instead of on the left end of the dash --Under the hood on the right front area.
  20. Mine too. I think it is fundamental to the design of the camera. The camera under the mirror has to look both forward and rearward, which means it has a very wide angle lens. It is practically on top of the front wheel, but much farther from the rear wheel. It has to stretch (zoom in) the image for the rear to make it look as big as the image from the front. That stretching causes the fuzzyness. I wish the rear view was better, but I'm OK living with it. I also recently drove my boss's new F150 XL (base model) with the surround camera option. It made me appreciate my Chevy's camera even more (2023 Silverado 1500).
  21. I went from a 2010 Yukon Denali w/Max Trailering (6.2L, 6 speed) to a 2023 Silverado 1500 crew cab short bed w/Max trailering (6.2L, 10 speed). I tow a 7100 pound travel trailer. The new truck has 6000 miles, 1500 of that was towing. I feel the new 6.2 is plenty strong. With the Yukon, I felt the need to use WOT somewhat often when towing. With the Silverado, I think I've used it maybe once. It just doesn't seem necessary. I think the additional gear ratios in the 10 speed help that perception. Another difference I have noticed is the use of the top gear. Then Yukon would almost never drop into sixth gear when we are towing. It would usually be in fifth on flat ground. Both vehicles have 3.42 gears, and eighth in the 10-speed is the same ratio as fifth in the 6-speed, so I expected to mostly be in eighth. But it actually spends a fair amount of time in tenth. The biggest challenge I've given the new truck was Raton pass (6700 feet to 7800 feet, so pretty mild) and it pulled like a champ with no drama. I'll hit the Eisenhower Tunnel in June.
  22. Just an FYI. I have a 2023 Silverado 1500 with the 10 speed and 6.2L. It also has Max Trailering. The tranny temp sticks like glue to 144F in normal highway driving. With my 7100 pound travel trailer, it's usually 144-150, sometimes 153. On Raton Pass northbound with the trailer, it topped out at 162. It got into the low 170s a couple times when I was in stop & go rush hour traffic with the trailer. I don't know if those low temps are due just to the bigger cooling capacity, or if the thermostat set points are also different with Max Trailering.
  23. I also just got one. I had a dealer install it. Mine does leak a bit, along the front, especially in the corners. Aside from that, I like it.
  24. Thanks. I'm glad to know this material holds up well. I took another look at my truck today, and saw that the other front fender liner has a small hole that matches the first one I found, so those holes must be on purpose.
  25. I have a new 2023 Silverado 1500 crew cab short bed 4x4 LTZ with 1000 miles on it. I was looking around under the hood and found a hole about the diameter of a pencil in the right front fender liner. I could see the ground though the hole. I noticed the liner was some kind of pressboard-type material, not plastic like I have seen in other vehicles. What is this stuff? How long has GM been using it? Does it hold up over time? BTW, I have the original Alenza tires on the truck, and I have only driven about a half mile on gravel so far, so the liner has not had a hard life.
