  1. it it is anything like the AMP step strip, which I bet it is, take the board end cap(s) off and the strip should slide out. The strip on the AMP slides in a groove
  2. me experiences with it as well
  3. bed them in really good. do several hard stops from at least 50mph or above. don't follow the "take it easy for the first 250 miles" bs. i had mine replaced a couple weeks ago. so far so good, and they actually bite better than the original pads. i bed them in like above
  4. nice. quick question, do the kryptonite tie rods still mount to the bottom of the knuckle or did they move to the top? thanks
  5. the only thing the diesel has over the gas in the longevity department is the engine itself. everything else bolted to it is does not live longer than gas components. In fact, most components attached to the diesel engine will fail long before the gas parts. IE,... injectors, emissions related components, fuel filters, etc... the 10 speed tranny is unproven, the 6 speed is.... at resale, yes the Duramax will bring more value. but you also pay nearly $10K up front for it. I just did a quick KBB comparison of trade values for my truck with Duramax, vs gas 6.6. The trade and retail price difference was $7k. so in reality, diesel does not even bring the initial cost back to trade or sell. I love the diesel, but will be going gas next truck. with all the issues they have, and my needs, it just doesn't make sense anymore
  6. I have a '20 Denali/Duramax. I would 100% go with the gas AT4. For what you tow and the frequency, the diesel is just not worth it. Despite what CRApex says about emission issues, they are not few and far between. They are actually quite common. Also you could potentially have all the fuel related issues as well. For me, I am over diesel. My towing needs don't warrant it.
  7. i just had the shaft replaced in my truck with the new part number posted above. shaft has a label on it that clearly shows the number. so far, so good. time will tell
  8. it has lane departure warning, seat will vibrate, but not assist. unless your truck is victim to the chip issue and they removed that feature. on the dash buttons, center cluster, there is a little button with icon that looks like a vehicle going out of the lane; that is the lane keep alert button. adaptive cruise control is not on the HD trucks, only the 1/2 tons
  9. Well, I finally got my truck back after 66 days at the dealer. Everything seems to be good except they did not replace the front brake pads per the TSB, only the rears. Asked why, said pads are on backorder. I said the parts department told me they are in, they called me. Service guy checked, sure enough, they are in under my name. So truck now has to go back again for the pad replacement. Intermediate steering shaft seems much better, time will tell. They indeed installed the new part number shaft. It is clearly labeled. Rear window seems to be fixed (we had good rain, no leak). New rear axle housing appears to not be leaking
  10. what color is your truck? i am looking for summit white. I have chrome ones with keyless entry buttons on all of them. I would be interested in a trade if you have summit white
  11. update: truck has now been at the dealer for 60 days. The second replacement axle was shipped from GM on 6/28, but has yet to arrive at the dealer. and nobody can track it or knows where it is. WTF??? how can a huge piece of steel not be tracked?? there was an update on the part order from 10 days ago that said the axle was at the "unloading cross dock". supposedly that cross dock was in the city, 30 miles away. however, it has not shown up. I am so frustrated and just cannot believe/understand how they cannot track such a big part.
  12. wrong. OP needs MORE backspacing. Assuming the OP has a (-) offset. OP needs about a +12 or more positive offset the clear 35x12.5 on a 9" wide wheel
  13. i am running a set. picked them up used with "1000" miles on them, probably actually more like 5000. I have put maybe 3000 more miles on them. they seem to be fine. did fine in the winter snow. the one thing they have though, is a right pull. my truck did not pull with stock tires, but sure does have a pull now. the alignment is dead on as well. rotating tires side to side does not help.
  14. go to a 285/65-20 BFG KO2. slightly narrower, slightly taller, less noise. you are not going to be able to do much with the with because of the offset of the wheels. +18 or more offset would have tucked the wheels/tires in more
  15. steve, that is an awful story. what dealer in california? i see you have sacramento listed, that is right down the road from me.
  16. that is load range, not index. many E rated 35s have less carrying capacity than the stock tires
  17. 35s will fit. make sure the load index is correct. many 35s come in 2 load index versions. i would not use any type of wheel spacer. that is just asking for problems. a 285/75-18 would be a great tire to throw on the 18s
  18. can anyone confirm on the silverado where the holes for the bracket are? on the GMC i know they are on the lower surround. I am looking at a silverado that has the plate holder attached. If there are holes in the bumper, it is a deal breaker
  19. at least another week of shipping time to get a new housing. then a few days to build it up
  20. rear window leak was one of the things they fixed on my truck. invoice said they used the bulletin. my headliner looked fine. buy i literally drove the truck 4 miles before it went back to the dealer where it sits
  21. update: thursday finally get a call saying my truck is done. it's been at the dealer nearly a month. friday morning i go down to pick it up. it is in the parking lot. i take a good amount of time looking it over and looking to see if the obvious things were done to it. I noticed right away the front brake pads were not changed, the rears were. i go into the service office, i get the paperwork. the ISS was replaced, the rear brake pads were replaced, not the fronts, the rear window leak was fixed, and the rear axle housing was replaced/rebuilt. good enough... i take the truck, drive 2 miles down the road to the store. I come out from the store and notice what appears to be a leak under the rear differential. I thought maybe it was there from another car, so I look. The damn new rear differential housing has a hole in it and is leaking oil . I cannot believe it. It looks like a casting flaw where there is not any metal there (looks porous). Immediately I head back to the dealer. The service writer, service manager, tech who did the repair, and another tech have a look. They are all dumbfounded and cannot believe it. The tech who did the repair said he drove it several miles and checked it out and it was fine. I even checked it out before I took the truck and did not see any leak or problem. So now they are trying to figure out what to do. The service manger was calling TAC and was going to get back to me. Haven't heard yet what the plan of attack it going to be. I don't know what to do at this point. I cannot believe that I have had 2 factory defect axles on the same truck. what are the odds?? 1st pic shows the leak from new diff, 2nd shows the original leak
  22. i think HD radio just allows the receiver to decompress and play the HD radio signals sent out by radio stations. some stations send out both analog and digital. an HD radio is needed to listen to the HD signals. the signals are a better sound quality
  23. called parts dept yesterday to find out where my axle is. they said they got all the "parts" in yesterday. Parts?? apparently GM cancelled the whole axle assembly order and said it was not available. instead they sent all the parts to build one. Great, who is going to build it?? I asked the service writer if they were going to send it out to a driveline/diff shop, and he said no. He said they have a "great" rear end guy. I am not confident to say the least....
