  1. I have the 3.0 diesel with max tow and love it. I average 25 mpg running around town doing errands on a mix of roads. Around here, diesel is cheaper than premium gas as long as you fill up in town and avoid filling up on the interstate, and that's comparing premium at Costco which is cheaper than typical gas stations vs diesel at most stations. So far I've towed a 2800 lbs trailer loaded with my 7000 lbs tractor, etc. without issue, granted this was sticking to two lane highway and I got 18 mpg doing it over a 50+ mile stretch. I was more concerned about stopping than accelerating and with the brakes on the trailer it was fine. I don't tow heavy often, maybe a couple times a year with the trailer and tractor over that same stretch of road. I considered getting a 2500 but decided i didn't want to drive it everyday so the 1500 with the 3.0 liter diesel was a compromise that's worked out really well so far.
  2. I've got nearly 22K miles on my 24 Sierra Duramax. Unlike my Kubota tractor, I have know idea if and when it's done a regen. DEF usage is about normal or better than expected. While I do a limited amount of short trips and running around town, 80% of the mileage is trips of 50 miles or more. I love the Duramax - averaging 28 mpg and with diesel at most in-town gas stations cheaper than the premium gas I have to use in my BMW, I am thrilled.
  3. I've had my 24 Sierra SLT with the LZ0 for a year now and surprising already have 19K miles. They have been all trouble free and the truck has been flawless. I came out of a 2017 Yukon Denali the the 3.6 liter and it was a great truck. I put 112K on it before we sold it to our daughter and her husband, and other than a transmission issue around 40K miles, fixed with a full flush and refill, it was flawless. I think he's got nearly 140K on it now and still running strong. Back to the LZ0 on my Sierra, I average 28 mpg most to the time. Diesel in my area runs $3.09 a gallon so it's been very economical to run. I refill the DEF tank when it drops below 1/2 and I'm filling it every 2.5K-3K miles. Oil changes are a breeze too with the drain plug and filter right there. I expect I'll need to replace the fuel filter in a few months. Most of our miles are highway between our home and our farm about 50 miles away, but it's also become the go-to for longer distance trips instead of my wife's Audi Q5. I absolutely love this truck. It's a standard bed with Max Tow so it's also a workhorse when I need to tow or haul something. I strongly considered getting a 3/4 or 1 ton with the 6.6 gasser but the cost of entry vs my 1/2 ton and the expected fuel expense at 12-15 mpg were just to hard to swallow. I may still need to jump up to the 2500 or 3500 at some point if i end up maxing out my tow capacity on the 1500, but I'm pretty happy now and hope I won't have to trade up in size.
  4. This is all very helpful. If my problem repeats, I'll schedule an appointment to take it in.
  5. This happened to me for the first time yesterday. No sounds at all, no radio, no door chimes, no turn signal beeping, etc. The next time I started it back up all was fine. I'm not even sure if it sat 10 minutes between issues and restart. I didn't panic or worry because I've heard this was a known issue. I suspect something in the computer system isn't launching or starting at start up as it should.
  6. I have the 4" Weigh Safe for my Sierra 1500 SLT Regular Box and it works well with multiple trailers. I wouldn't consider a 6" unless I had a 2500 or 3500 or a lifted 1500.
  7. I love the 3.0 diesel in my 2024 Sierra SLT (Regular Box and Max Tow). I don't tow a lot but it does a great job when I do tow. The best part of owning the diesel is the 28-30 mpg we get running back and forth the 55 miles to our farm. Diesel in our area ranges from $2.99-$3.39 a gallon depending on location (in town much cheaper than along the highway), regular gas is $2.69 and premium is $3.39 at Costco, so we do well with the diesel. All that said, I'm not sure the depreciation hit on trading a 2024 for a 2025 would be worth the change, unless you really wanted the diesel and really wanted to upgrade from Elevation to AT4.
  8. Agree the tariff thing could make it more difficult and more expensive. The Downpour Metallic Blue is nice, but is it worth it to order one only to find out it's an extra 5-15% more expensive when it comes in? The problem now is you don't know what the price will be in a month or two. I was back and forth between the blue and red and chose red and love it.
  9. I'm about the same, I average adding a 2.5 gallon container every 5K miles - basically I plan to add DEF when I change the oil and filter.
  10. Congratulations. I've had my diesel Sierra about 8 months now and love it.
  11. I love my Duramax. My commute is 13 miles or about 25 minutes and the engine heats up well in that time, even in winter. While I use the truck to commute some day's, we mostly use it to go to our property 50 miles away or for longer trips. Short commutes are hard on all engines, but I think worse for diesel engines. I'm not sure it does much damage, but I don't think you'll see the benefit of the better fuel mileage with short commutes.
  12. I doubt the remote start with the app works without wifi connectivity on the truck and I've really appreciated that feature this past month, especially on some of the really cold days.
  13. I just purchased 3 years of the wifi connectivity. I wasn't interested in the other OnStar offerings. Other's will say the wifi isn't really needed either since you can use your phone's connectivity but I didn't think the price for 3 years was too bad.
  14. I've had GM factory spray in liner on my Canyon Denali and in our new Sierra and would go without a rubber bed mat too. Great combo.
  15. The comments from @asilverblazer make sense. The imperfections in the road aren't enough to the compress the springs so the vibrations are being transmitted into the truck chassis and ultimately into your seat and your body. It probably has more to do with the stiffer spring rate in the AT4 vs other models and not so much with the shocks. The shocks just slow down or even out compression and rebound from the springs. Rather than trying replace the shocks with the hot name brand, I'd take it to a tire and wheel store that also specializes in suspensions and see what they suggest. Maybe take it to 2-3 places for opinions.
  16. I'm with you. I'd love to get some more light for backing up in my 24 SLT. I still haven't seen a solution yet.
  17. Here's what I was referring to in a earlier post. The photos somehow look better than the screen does when backing, possibly due to other lights in the field of vision like the headlights and the dash lights.
  18. I'll try to get a picture of mine tonight. From what I've read this seems to be an issue with 2024 MY vehicles and possibly 2025. It appears @Jus Cruisin with the good photo has a 2023. I don't know what, if any change there was between 2023 and 2024.
  19. Anyone have any updated solutions to back up camera issues at night or the back up lights on the 24 MY Sierra and Silverado? I am flying blind backing my truck up at night. The camera at night is pathetic and the back up lights are way to dim. It's a serious safety issue. I had my front windows tinted which makes it even more difficult to back up at night. If I put my front windows down, I can use the mirrors, but the back up light is still barely useful. With the windows tinted and up, there just isn't enough light back there to see anything in the mirrors. I purchased my 24 SLT in July and really didn't drive it late at night much so the reverse lights and camera issues weren't noticed because it typically wasn't fully dark yet, but now that it's November and getting dark a 5:30 or earlier it's an much more noticed issue. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
  20. I originally wanted a Denali to replace our 2017 Canyon Denali. When shopping for the new truck my "must haves" were 3.0 liter diesel, Max Tow and Standard Bed - everything else was negotiable. I wanted a few features available on the Denali like HUD and retractable side steps, but I couldn't get a Denali with Max Tow which led me to the SLT. I was stuck on GMC mostly because I wanted to purchase again from Laura near St. Louis. I also just liked the look of the GMCs better than the Chevys. For those reasons I really didn't look at an LTZ or High Country, even though I could have gotten the retractable side steps with the LTZ and I think I could have gotten Max Tow and the side steps on a High Country. Now 5 months and 6K miles in I am very happy with my decision. My SLT has all the luxury features I wanted with the Premium Plus Package and nothing I really didn't want. Buying at Laura worked out as I was able to get a great deal on price again. I also was able to get the sunroof I wanted and the color (Volcanic Red) I wanted. The retractable side steps would have been nice, but just something else I'd have to service and probably repair at some point. We recently drove a Silverado LT rental while on vacation for the week and the lack of features compared to our Sierra SLT were very noticeable. I really think from a price vs features standpoint the SLT and LTZ really hit the sweet spot. Denali or AT4 and High Country are great and have more nice to have features but the cost of entry is really quite a bit more and I'm just not sure they'd have worth the extra cost to me.
  21. There's definitely something wrong. I am impressed by how quite our Sierra 1500 is - probably one of the most quite on the road of all the vehicles we've owned.
  22. Like most engines, but more so with diesels, they don't like short trips. If I need to run up the street a couple miles to the grocery for my wife I take one of our cars. I generally don't drive the truck unless I know the engine is going to get fully up to temperature, which depending on weather is generally about 5-10 miles. Our truck isn't a daily driver so it sits in the driveway for several days in a row without moving and I've never had any issues with soot or regens. My DEF usage is also spot on to what the manual says - generally less than 1 gal. per 1500 miles.
  23. I've only used Sport mode a couple times and never really paid any attention to this. I'll have to try it out again and see if I hear anything.
  24. We recently rented a 24 Silverado LT with the 2.7 for a week while on vacation and I was impressed. Fuel mileage wasn't as good as my 3.0 Duramax, but it had more pep than the diesel, at least in regular drive mode. The baby max is definitely peppier in Sport mode, but I rarely us it. It was a good comparison to our Sierra SLT Crew Cab Standard Box as the rental was also a Crew Cab Standard Box. I was actually surprised to get a Standard Box in a rental since it appears to me Short Boxes outnumber Standard by about a 3:1 or maybe even a 4:1 margin. The rental had 18K miles on it. My wife also noted it rode a bit better than our SLT, but our SLT is Max Tow. As impressed as I was with the rental, I love our Sierra SLT. It's the best truck we've owned by a long shot.
  25. I'll second the suggestion on Laura. It's a ways from you in Cali but they'll ship it to you. I just bought my second truck from them, a 24 Sierra SLT with Duramax and Max Tow. Very painless online and phone purchase. Well worth driving the nearly 5 hours each way to pick it up. I'm not sure about ordering, but if you're interested in GMC, their inventory is so large they probably have something in stock or will soon that fits what you want or pretty damn close.
