  1. It was the gear on our 2016 Suburban. It was a bear to steer. I don't see how anyone could drive it like it was.
  2. On my 2002 Silverado I just drained the radiator and pulled the lower hose off. Let it all drain out and then connected the hose, filled it back up with water and left the top hose off. Started it and let it run and as the thermostat opened it would push out the top hose and put the water hose in the radiator to keep a supply of water going. As the water cleared up I stopped, drained it all and then went back with fresh coolant.
  3. I was wanting to get one as well, Forward and rearfacing cam's. I have it on my Christmas list.
  4. E85 will not hurt the cats.
  5. Love the pencil sharpener!
  6. The parts part to me didn't matter. They basically already were set up to go down the assembly line. Now the testing and making the ratings for using that fuel makes sense. The vehicles have to be able to handle some ethanol or they would have more work in their service bays then they could handle. It is just taking advantage of it is the main thing.
  7. That will work great. A gradual change out is good and doesn't shock the system so to speak. Plus it is lighter on the wallet.
  8. My 2002 had AMSOIL ATF in it from 10k miles on. Did a UOA with the fluid having 100k on it and it was good. This is even towing a 4k lbs 10x20 enclosed trailer. It served me well when I sold it with over 200k miles on it. Every vehicle I purchase gets switched over as soon as I can. Like my 2019 Silverado and it's 10sp. Once I get some extra time, it is going to the dealer to have them swap out the fluid for AMSOIL's ATL. My 2014 Cruze diesel's transmission runs at 225°F and that is one reason to switch to a good synthetic. Heat is hard on the transmission and seals. So having a fluid that will not break down like standard fluid is important.
  9. Congrats and welcome!
  10. I'm sure it is all about the money. As for why it would be is beyond me because the trucks and vehicles coming down the line already can handle it. The only difference it a sensor and the alcohol table in the ECM. Which is there on vehicles that didn't come with it like our Suburban. It had the table, just needed to be turned on. So why not just continue and give the public the option? There are so many out there that have the yellow cap and don't have a clue why and probably never will. I have talked to several while fueling up at our E85 source, Sheetz, and told them they can run it and they told me they didn't realize it. Yellow handle pump and yellow cap. At least here the E85 is a yellow handle pump.
  11. I ran a 50/50 mix of E85 and premium in my 2002. It wasn't a FF vehicle. This mix seemed to work the best for me. I ran it for a good 5 or so years. The performance was noticeable to me at least. Crisper throttle response and my fuel economy didn't take a hit. If I ran E85 100% then I would get two codes. Bank 1 lean and Bank 2 lean. So I didn't run it at 100% for that reason. Our 2016 Suburban I added the sensor and had Black Bear Performance turn the table on in the ECM and tune for it as well as what ever else he does for a tune. Made a really nice difference in that heavy beast. Sad that GM went away from it in the new T1's. I was hoping they didn't. I like running it for the performance as well as the cleaner burn in the cylinders. Not to mention the exhaust smells better.
  12. This is great news. Now to get a set of tow mirrors from a 2020 High Country that have all the same features that I have now. Thanks.
  13. I checked out the custom programing and didn't see it mention anything about cameras. I understand custom means just that but for those that are looking for a specific program it isn't showing on the site.
  14. I just went over all that is offered on your web site and didn't see anything mentioning that you are able to get the camera's to work properly when swapped from regular to the tow mirrors on a 2019 model. I do like the fact that the tap to pass can be lengthened. To me three blinks just isn't enough but when my trailer is hooked up it does 6 I think which is perfect. If you can get the camera's to work properly then it looks like I'm going to be getting a set of tow mirrors.
  15. I had a fully loaded at the time 2002 LT Silverado and it didn't have traction control.
  16. Lucky I print out and keep all mine in a binder. Old school. Just checked an Amazon has them for $12.65. Not bad for just the basics.
  17. Yes, I got a Wix UOA. They were on Amazon for like $8 at the time and I got two. It is just the basic break down. No TAN or comments about the UOA. Here is one on my 2002 running 5w-20 at the time for 5k miles. 2002 Silverado Wix UOA.pdf
  18. If you go through my website and look up Oil Analizers Inc. The UOA is $33.80 and includes shipping. This is Polaris labs/Horizon. Going though AMSOIL gives you a discount. If you are a Preferred Customer it is even less but I can't post that information.
  19. Hey guys, I thought I posted this but went back and and checked and I didn't. If anyone is interested in using Terry Dyson you can reach him at [email protected] He said that for me to post this in-case others were interested in his service. He is retired but still takes on personal vehicles. He has a huge data base to pull information on and the fact that he sends an audio file and explains every line on the UOA PDF he sends really adds a personal touch. Plus if you have questions you can contact him and he will be glad to explain in detail. If you do reach out let him know I sent you. Not sure if he will offer a discount but never hurts to try. I don't get anything from it. Just that I have used his services for years and even met him personally when I took a trip to Dallas way back in 2003.
  20. They are for the most part. Most don't go extended like me. Oil Analyzers/Polaris Labs uses an updated method FTIR, so it would give a better view on how your oil is doing. There are oil UOA's online where someone sent a sample to each lab and Blackstone's flash test showed fuel dilution as 0 but OAI showed it high.
  21. One other things is oil for a diesel is different than a gas engine. It has different detergents in it to help keep the engine clean and the soot in suspension. Something not really needed as much in a gas engine. So you have the DPF and soot in the oil to deal with. Yes the 0w-20 is an emission oil but remember this new 3.0 engine has been designed from the ground up. So I'm sure they took into consideration the lubrication as well. Would it run on a 5w-30 diesel oil, probably but what effect in the long run would it have on all the control systems that use the lubrication? My 2014 diesel Cruze calls for a 5w-30 dexos 2 diesel oil. I've been running AMSOIL's 5w-30 Signature Series in it and not the European dexos 2 rated oil. My UOA's are better with the SS. The main thing is I stayed in spec on the oil weight and diesel oil. Plus the diesel in the Cruze is also used overseas so it wasn't specifically designed from the ground up like the new 3.0. Not to mention technology has changed some from 2014 to now. Plus I'm out of warranty anyway. The complexity of vehicles is just going to get worse IMO. We either stay old school or adapt, not much we can do.
  22. The more complex the powerplant the more issues that can go wrong. People that move from old tech to these new powerplants think they can continue to treat their maintenance the same. Problem is you can't. The oil does more than just lubricate and cool. It controls how VVT and AFM and stuff works. Allow the inside of the engine to get dirty and not use the proper lubricant can and will cause issues. Maybe not right away but in the long run. I change the oil on a friends old Traverse. It is the older model that has issues with cam phasers and timing chains before GM updated the 3.6. They have loved the vehicle since they purchased it. It just hit 211k miles. That is pretty good for that 3.6.
  23. Cool. Taking care of it like you have you should get to 500k with no issues other than normal wear items.
