  1. Hey guys, sorry to get back on here late. Been busy fixing things around the house. I installed a pocket door. I must say, it wasn't hard but I'm no drywall guy. Terry is retired Navy and also just retired from his Analysis business but told me that he is doing some still, just not on the scale with corporations and such. You can reach him at [email protected] Like stated above by Grumpy Bear, Terry sends a PDF and an audio file to explain the UOA report. Also his test for fuel dilution is current and more precise. It is my understanding Blackstone Labs uses an older method and it isn't very accurate. The process to detect fuel is expensive for the current system and one can't blame any lab for not wanting to update their equipment. Fuel dilution is important now with direct injection. It can cause major issues. Case in point. My FD in our 2016 Suburban was 3.7 and that is way to high. Needless to say it caused issues and this is why I do UOA's. So I can adjust my drain intervals accordingly.
  2. Maybe while leaning over the truck to put oil in and in the back something in your pocket was pressing on the key fob?
  3. Go back over all the connections you disconnected and make sure they are secure. As well as any connections in that area that you might have bumped and possibly come loose. Also, take all your grounds off, like around the battery and frame and clean them up really good with sand paper or wire brush and put some dielectric grease on them. Then see if that helps. A bad ground can cause all kind of headaches.
  4. Been a busy week for me. I didn't watch the video and I get on here when I can. How often did you change out the transmission fluid?
  5. Wow, that means the original mount was completely shot to have lowered the trans that much. Might want to check your u joints.
  6. If you are using AMSOIL fluids and there is an issue. Make sure to grab as much of the fluid as possible to be analyzed. If AMSOIL's fluid caused the problem, which is highly unlikely, they will cover the repair. If the AMSOIL fluid was still in specification and the dealer still states it was the fluid then you contact AMSOIL. I have talked to other dealers when this was the case and AMSOIL pretty much stepped in and turned it around. Like stated above. Here is a copy of AMSOIL's warranty.
  7. Nice job! My 2002 transmission drain bolt wouldn't come out either by using a 6 point socket. It started to round off. I got a bolt out kit from Sears and it worked like a charm.
  8. Had a friend come over with his backhoe and pull out 12 bushes stumps. I did some with my truck and that took me 4hrs to get 15 out. We did the 12 in under an hour. That little trailer was over weight. The tires looked like they were flat.
  9. Welcome to GMT.
  10. It sucks that you can't work on your vehicle, not even to wash it.
  11. Not sure but GM must have done it for a reason. I the design individuals didn't put into consideration the attention this would draw from the general public.
  12. How did I miss this thread? Nice truck! I like the progress.
  13. Someone mentioned warranty. As usual I can't find that post but here is AMSOIL's limited warranty.
  14. I like examples like this. Hard to prove that the oil didn't do it's job. Quality oil protects. HD Screaming Eagle oil in my opinion was made because HD was loosing customers to AMSOIL and other synthetics and wanted to get in on that $$$. Of course it is made for HD and the quality I feel is at the level of just meeting specification. HD is out to make money not lubricants.
  15. Matt, no advantage per say going local or online. Local you might be able to get product from a dealer as you need it. I do know that some don't stock product and some do. Having me as your servicing dealer you help support this forum since I'm a sponsor. Also if you plan on using AMSOIL in the future, then becoming a Preferred Customer is the way to go. That way you get everything at the wholesale price plus benefits of promotions that AMSOIL puts on at times. You also get points every time you make a purchase and those points can be used for future purchases.
  16. My take on Bank's and his test. He is targeting the 3/4 ton an up trucks. He doesn't have any covers for the half tons. To me this means the differential is more of a concern since the 3/4 ton and up trucks are worked harder so the rear diff see's more wear and tear.
  17. Nice report. The only issue I see is fuel dilution. Blackstone tests for fuel on an old system and isn't very accurate. This is also why your flashpoint is so low. You more than likely have a higher fuel dilution than what is showing. DI engines are bad for FD. This is also the main reason I feel that GM when with an 8qt sump. If they stayed with a 6qt then you couldn't go very long on an oil change since the oil would be shot due to fuel. It isn't the oils fault. As you can see AMSOIL did a great job protecting even with high fuels. Another reason to use a high quality lubricant like AMSOIL.
  18. It wouldn't hurt anything. Depending on what oil you use and how often you change it as well as driving conditions. Some don't realize that if you drive very short distances and don't really get the engine up to operating temperature, it can cause more problems. With these new engines and 8qt stumps. It takes way longer for the oil to reach optimum temp. Using AMSOIL's engine flush is a safe way to keep things clean inside at oil change time. It helps to put all contaminates into suspension and they drain out when you pull the drain plug. The best thing is to run a quality oil and filter and if you do extended oil drains get a used oil analysis to see how things are inside the engine.
  19. Yeah, I'm sure there is a way, but one that is not for the novice.
  20. 10/07/2020 2016 Suburban 65,463 total miles on the suburban 14,236 miles on oil OLM at 10% Oil AMSOIL Signature Series ASM 0w-20 Ea017 No noticeable oil consumption Sent sample off to Dysonanalysis to see how this sample did. This will be the second oil change at 14k.
  21. Are you saying you don't know of a way to add a by-pass filter? You can get a universal kit from AMSOIL. Is the filter a cartridge?
  22. Why do you buy qts when your truck takes 2 gallons? Just order the gallons and stop messing around with individual qts. LOL
  23. You change your oil every 3k in all your vehicles?
  24. At what mileage are you changing the oil?
