Google lets you download maps to your phone so you're not dependent on cell towers. Northern NH is pretty spotty so I started with that now I have basically the whole northeast down to DC on my phone.

Factory nav is obsolete. Just use CarPlay or Android Auto.

Just lower the headliner and unplug the roof antenna.

GPS uses a tiny amount of data. I used to use my phone constantly when traveling and never saw an appreciable use of data. And you're gonna pay all that money for a database that is inaccurate/outdated. Google Maps/Android Auto/CarPlay is the future of in-car use. OE navigation is trash.

Forums have taken a hit because of Facebook groups. But, I'm on two groups for 2014-18 GM trucks and they're full of morons. If you want pictures of giant wheels with stretched tires, sign up. If you want real advice, come here. haha

Those are LTZ headlamps. LT and the rest have a halogen lower element.

Probably more like 20, if ever. EVs are a huge ways off from replacing gas and diesel. Ford absolutely has an optional diesel on the F150.

I've read more than one article and a few books about auto design that say when it comes down to it, engineers make design decisions in grams. And yes, they would be considering the full weight as that comes out of payload capacity.

Ford shrank their base gas tank too. The big tank is optional. It is 100% lazy engineering, an easy way to cut weight when they literally go down to the gram when considering part weight cost. People who aren't bothered by it must like having long trips interrupted more often.

I wasn't aware anyone still bothered with this given that basically everyone has a phone with bluetooth. Why pay extra for OnStar calling when you should be able to do the same, assuming you have a smartphone? 1. 15 minutes. 2. Common on a lot of vehicles sadly. 3. Probably a hill-hold feature if you park on an incline? Just guessing.

OnStar is not connected via satellite. It uses AT&T towers.

With the right gearing I don't see why it won't work. Look at old Toyota pickups or something like a Samurai with 2-digit horsepower on 37s or even big stuff like 40s. They run like 5.30 gears though. haha

No idea why anyone would say the drain plug was 12mm. GM has used 15mm since I started working on cars almost 20 years ago. The new engines all hold more oil. The V8 holds 8 when they were 6 quarts for ages.

You need to hold the button to make it use Google or Siri on Apple. A brief press only uses the vehicles system.

I'm pretty sure it needs to be matched to your VIN. I would not buy a cheap one off eBay as I doubt they program it. That said, do you have an iPhone or Android device? If so, you can use navigation via CarPlay or Android Auto. GM's OE navigation is a nice system but it was outdated before it was ever sold. The phone based systems use Google Maps, Waze or other services that are basically always up to date.

The jump seat will do nothing to increase value. The center console is the premium option.

They did this because several appliance buyers managed to get themselves killed by parking a running vehicle in their garage and leaving it running inadvertently.

Guys, no need to be nasty and sarcastic. Knock it off. I would recommend leaving the truck in neutral with the parking brake on and perhaps the wheels chocked. I bet this would be a workaround.

If I had to guess, something to do with crash compatibility with smaller cars. Basically frame extensions that will engage the crash structure on lower riding vehicles.

The base three trims do not telescope anymore. Sad to say I think I’m writing GM off my list of trucks to look at this spring. They’re missing too many things I can get on a Ford, Ram or even the Nissan.

They even eliminated the under seat bin? Damn. I love Chevy and I want a Custom Trail Boss but the decontenting of these new trucks kills me.

The pics of the last generation kit and are clearly Corsa. Not so sure about this one. The pics on Chevrolet Performance's site show it has those funky mesh patches that are supposed to help with drone. Muffler might be Borla, it's hard to tell.

It is a letdown that GM downgraded the lights on these trucks but I’m not a huge fan of LED. I had them in my Wrangler and while they lit up the road nicely, they couldn’t melt snow off so when we got the “warm weather” snow that was heavy and wet, it plugged up the headlights. They didn’t get hit enough to melt snow. It won’t be as good but I’m sure if I wanted to I could get some LED bulbs as long as they didn’t dump massive amounts of glare like some aftermarket stuff does. I’m also not 100% anti-halogen. The lightning on my Grand Cherokee is great. In past vehicles I ran upgraded bulbs and was satisfied too. We’ll see. It isn’t apples to apples but once I get my tax return back and know how much money I have to play with I’ll be comparing a Custom Trail Boss to a Big Horn Ram. Both have things I really like and some stuff I’m not crazy about.
