  1. Google lets you download maps to your phone so you're not dependent on cell towers. Northern NH is pretty spotty so I started with that now I have basically the whole northeast down to DC on my phone.
  2. Factory nav is obsolete. Just use CarPlay or Android Auto.
  3. Just lower the headliner and unplug the roof antenna.
  4. The reason is cost. They run e-fans on the 1500s to help meet MPG targets. HD trucks aren't subject to CAFE regulations so they don't care. They don't run them because they're better.
  5. AC on my 2003 with a mechanical clutch fan was garbage when not moving. Electric fans are massively superior. No way that one shitty fan that can be stopped by a fried clutch that is dependent on engine RPM can outflow a pair of electronic fans. And I cannot recall hearing of an electronic fan failure on these trucks.
  6. GPS uses a tiny amount of data. I used to use my phone constantly when traveling and never saw an appreciable use of data. And you're gonna pay all that money for a database that is inaccurate/outdated. Google Maps/Android Auto/CarPlay is the future of in-car use. OE navigation is trash.
  7. It may not just be the cover. For me, as summer comes in and the trees fill out, the auto headlamps go on and off way more often than fall/winter. This is one thing where Chrysler stuff has something that I'm shocked no one else copies- you can easily override the interior dimming with the dimmer switch and they have a dedicated screen off button. It's like three screens deep to turn off the screen on our trucks and that's silly.
  8. Forums have taken a hit because of Facebook groups. But, I'm on two groups for 2014-18 GM trucks and they're full of morons. If you want pictures of giant wheels with stretched tires, sign up. If you want real advice, come here. haha
  9. I had one on my riddle that I bought because the crappy stock style cause horrible gas to face issues. They make good stuff. Bought a new hand guard from Geissele a couple years back that came with one of theirs which is top notch too. Bought a Radian for my pistol build which is great too.
  10. Those are LTZ headlamps. LT and the rest have a halogen lower element.
  11. Probably more like 20, if ever. EVs are a huge ways off from replacing gas and diesel. Ford absolutely has an optional diesel on the F150.
  12. I've read more than one article and a few books about auto design that say when it comes down to it, engineers make design decisions in grams. And yes, they would be considering the full weight as that comes out of payload capacity.
  13. Ford shrank their base gas tank too. The big tank is optional. It is 100% lazy engineering, an easy way to cut weight when they literally go down to the gram when considering part weight cost. People who aren't bothered by it must like having long trips interrupted more often.
  14. I think most of the newer tailgate stuff is answering a question no one asked. I think the corner steps work well.
  15. Where are you getting $2500 from? On anything but an LTZ it looks closer to $5k to me using the build and price. $2500 I'd be a little more open to the idea. Diesel here is usually around the cost of premium so there is a bit of extra cost there. I never said the 5.3 was great, it isn't. It's okay and that's about it. I have a 5.3 because it was the only option on this particular truck. I know the AFM garbage will likely be a headache at higher miles and that basically every GDI engine made is gonna need top end work because of the crud that collects on the intake valves but none of that really matters since this truck will be someone else's problem in 3-4 years anyhow.
  16. Yeah but they do that test up in the mountains. Most of us live a few thousand feet closer to sea level. And it still isn't worth the thousands more you'll pay for it.
  17. Took another home the other night. Sig Sauer P229 Legion SAO.
  18. If anyone posts a video for Old Town Road they're getting banned forever.
  19. The 509 now has a bunch of upgrades from Apex. New trigger, extractor and striker. It's become my EDC for the bulk of the time. The 365 is still a great discrete carry gun.
  20. I wasn't aware anyone still bothered with this given that basically everyone has a phone with bluetooth. Why pay extra for OnStar calling when you should be able to do the same, assuming you have a smartphone? 1. 15 minutes. 2. Common on a lot of vehicles sadly. 3. Probably a hill-hold feature if you park on an incline? Just guessing.
  21. OnStar is not connected via satellite. It uses AT&T towers.
  22. With the right gearing I don't see why it won't work. Look at old Toyota pickups or something like a Samurai with 2-digit horsepower on 37s or even big stuff like 40s. They run like 5.30 gears though. haha
  23. FN 509 Midsize. Great Glock 19-size pistol. I'll be ordering the holster for it this week.
  24. No idea why anyone would say the drain plug was 12mm. GM has used 15mm since I started working on cars almost 20 years ago. The new engines all hold more oil. The V8 holds 8 when they were 6 quarts for ages.
  25. You need to hold the button to make it use Google or Siri on Apple. A brief press only uses the vehicles system.
