  1. The LXP cover is the best hard tri-fold cover you can buy!
  2. I suppose I didn't explain well enough. When you manually close either the front or back lids, you have to first push down on them so that the seals seal against the rails and tailgate and the locking mechanism bar will fit beneath the rails. So, that's why you won't be able to add any sort of automatic lock. If you adjust the locking bars too loosely, you may get water leaks.
  3. There's no way you can add a remote locking feature to a Diamondback cover. You have to push down on the cover in order to lock the cover and the way it locks is rather rudimentary.
  4. Gator doesn't make any covers, they are all rebadged covers. Yours is probably either a Bakflip Fibermax or an Undercover Flex. Your cover has FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) panels. I highly recommend that you keep some sort of UV light blocking conditioner on it. If you don't then the sun will eventually erode the black topcoat and it won't be covered under warranty. The picture shows what can happen to FRP after a few years without conditioner.
  5. Regarding the Armor Flex, the last panel (below the rear window) is NOT coated with LINE-X and has a 5-year warranty which is pretty good, but the LXP has a lifetime warranty. Here's a Youtube vid on the LXP cover:
  6. I have a few problems with those steps. Looks like they have plastic end caps, it's best to have welded end caps. It's chromed something. If it's chromed steel, you'll probably start seeing rust dots in the chrome in a couple of years. They have a 12-month warranty which is horrible. Most aftermarket steps have a three to lifetime warranty.
  7. The Armor Flex is not totally coated with LINE-X. The panel closest to the cab is not coated. Armor Flex has a 5-year warranty. The Truck Gear (by LINE-X) cover has all of the panels coated with LINE-X and comes with a lifetime warranty.
  8. If it was super shiny, it's probably made with FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) panels which is probably not the most desired these days. Aluminum panels with the LINE-X coating (Truck Gear LXP) is probably the best followed by aluminum panels with a paint powder coat.
  9. Weathertech does not manufacture any bed covers. The Alloy cover is a rebadged Access Lomax. It's an "OK" cover, but not a great cover.
  10. Most places charge $80 to $125 per hour to install accessories. Some trucks are more difficult than others. But, $100 to install Amp steps is stupid low.
  11. Amp steps can take some time to install. I bet 4Wheel Parts charges a higher price for the steps so that you think you're getting free installation. I'm just guessing.
  12. Looking at some pictures of the REV cover, it's exactly like a Bak Revolver. So, I would say the cover is made by Bak.
  13. The LOMAX is a fairly new cover and you probably won't be able to find a ton of feedback yet. The Ultra Flex has been around longer and more feedback is probably available. I don't think Weathertech makes any of their covers, they are all rebranded which is a common thing to do these days.
  14. Well, the Sentry CT won't really provide any security for your golf clubs if someone decide to slice it open. However, if someone want in, they will get in no matter if you have a hard or soft cover. Question is, how hard to you want to make it for the thief? My opinion on hard covers that are around your budget amount: Best warranty - Truck Gear (by LINE-X) Stealth and LXP covers, lifetime warranty. Most durable - Probably Truck Gear LXP and Undercover Armor Flex, both are new covers, so it's rather unproven. But, both have a LINE-X costing which is probably more durable than a powder coat. Best looking - Undercover Ultra Flex or Access LOMAX, really nice powder coats.
  15. $75 rebate going on for this cover!
  16. I agree, but FoldACover needs to get rid of their "piano" style hinges because the seal above them wears out.
  17. Not really a big deal, but the bare aluminum on the underside looks....unfinished. Obviously, it does not affect function. When folded, the latch thing (which i believe is made of rubber) is stretched to lock into place. Long term durability of the rubber thing that has to be stretched to work remains to be seen. The powder coat finish looks pretty good.
  18. Yes, the Ultra Flex does look nice. The Ultra Flex used to come with one canvas saddle bag and two LED light strips. Did you get the light strips? You didn't mention the two Truck Gear by LINE-X folding covers. They have a lifetime warranty which is pretty good.
  19. That's a DiamondBack cover, here's their website: https://diamondbackcovers.com/
  20. If you buy the cover and you get one free canvas saddle bag (along with TWO light strips), then you got lucky by getting old inventory. Newer inventory does not include the saddle bag and only includes one light strip.
  21. I don't own a Lomax, but I've seen a dealer display. Likes: The finish does look really nice. Semi-dislikes: The cover just looks a little odd because it sits above the rails with no side seals. The aluminum on the bottom side of the panels have no finish, they are bare aluminum. I wonder if the the little rubber attachments and rubber band thing that are used when securing the open panels will last a while or break prematurely. None of these things are deal breakers for me, but......
  22. The MX4 (and Truck Gear) have built-in water channels on the sides, so are you saying you're getting water in the water channels?
