I have a 92 gmc sierra k1500, 5.7, with a 5 speed. I was driving it yesterday when suddenly it seemed to idle down real low and started running "quiet". Today i went out to fire it up and go to work and it wouldnt start. After about a half hour i went back out and decided to try giving it gas while cranking and it started up, I can sit there and rev it up and it will stay running, i even drove it to work today but it died multiple times and i had to keep it revved up in order to stay running, some times it will idle on its own but barely, other times it will just sputter and die. It did fine driving down the highway but its when i come to a stop when it dies.... Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Check your fuel pressure I just got done messing with my brothers 95 gmc that had a similar problem he was hauling horses then he got into town and it would barely stay running we thought it was the map or the tps then while testing we found that the intake had a bad gasket so we finally got the money and time to change it. when we got it all together it still ran like crap. I finally checked the fuel pressure and it was at 6 it needs to be at 9-13 psi. put a new one in last night and runs great. I should have done that awhile ago I just put a hose where the filter connects and a gauge on the other end and turned on the key.

Make sure the engine is grounded to the frame, and the battery is grounded to the engine or frame. Over time, the factory grounds go to hell due to corrosion and what not. Insufficient grounds can cause all kinds of drivability issues. This is common on trucks of that era. We had seen quite a few in the past where customers throw all types of parts at them trying to fix the problem when all they needed was a few ground wires. Check that out first before you go any further, might just be that simple.
