Shaving Tail Gate Latch Trim

It may just be me but I hadn't noticed that people are taking off the black trim that surrounds the tail gate latch. I am toying with taking mine off. I saw it twice this week. What needs to be done to get this trim off? Does the inside tailgate pannel need to come off?

it snaps in..you can pry it off with a screw driver...be warned though it leaves the latch assembly open to debris and crap to go in there..i had to brake mine off to relube the internals of the latch, then had the replacement stolen...the piece is 6 bucks at autozone so its cheap if you want to experiment

Good to know. In that case I will look at someoines closer before I pry mine off.
