Hi,

 

I've just joined this forum to find out why a new GM with a 5.3l engine is burning oil. It started when my truck had about 60,000kms on it . I have changed the oil in it quite regularly. most of the time when the oil indicator status was between 50 and 75%.

I have been to the dealer for an oil consumption evaluation and i'm with in the acceptable oil usage limits!! My last GM pick up had 300000kms on it and never used a drop between oil changes. :D

 

I have been reading others storys on here and find that it is a very common problem with the 5.3 engine. It really pisses me off that I have this new truck and burns oil like a old clunker. If GM doesn't fix the problem there will be a Ford or Dodge in my yard soon enough !! :lol:
