4 Wheel Drive System Issues

Hi there... Im having some issues with the 4 wheel drive system on my 2001 Z71 Chevy Silverado. Basically what is going on is in 4hi 4 wheel drive will not engauge, neither will 4low, however if I put it in 4AUTO, 4 wheel drive does engauge and it works fine. When I hit the 4hi or 4low buttons they light up on the switch, but neither engauge.

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but are you in Neutral? You must be in Neutral to engage 4HI or 4LO.

Really? I need to try it then. All this time I have put both trucks in neutral before going into 4HI or 4LO.......

no strain and slight movement is what works best,i was thinking sycros but he doesn't have any with an auto ,right ?,he has the clutch pack and the fork ramps the clutch on.

 

ya neutral and slight movement makes for a happy t case shift lol
