Bug Guard For My Yukon Denali

Has anybody else had this issue where the clearance between the hood and the headlights is about an 1/8 of an inch, which is just not quite enough for a (nearly) 3/16" bug guard to fit there?

 

I bought a used bug guard for my 2004 Yuk Denali and I cannot close the hood all the way after it was mounted.

 

I thought maybe the headlights needed to be adjusted down a 1/4" or so, but that seems wrong, and other trucks I've looked at recently look like they're pretty similar in gap at the headlight. (the area above the grill is ok).

 

Weathertech has the guard to fit my truck (the 50048, dark smoke) but I'm afraid to order it if it won't fit.

 

Suggestions?
